The train is dated and can use some new equipment and furnishings. So I don't arrive in style, but I do arrive in time to watch the puck drop at MSG.

Great Neck is one of the last stops before you get into the real meat of New York City. It's like a bridge between worlds. It feels more like NYC (far out Queens) than Long Island to me, but what do I know. Besides, Queens is technically on Long Island. Speaking of Long. But anyway. The station is pretty average. It doesn't get as busy as some of the others. Much like my Aunt.

It only takes an extra minute to stop at both during off peak hours, so this is just an inconvenience to local residents - as if the high price of commuting to Manhattan isn't enough!

On Labor Day Monday, I took the Hampton Luxury Liner from Manhattan to Montauk. I thought the bus…read morewas going to be full since it was a holiday. It was empty. Excluding me and the driver, there were about 10 passengers. I had two seats to myself. And speaking of seats, they were very comfortable. There was decent legroom (I'm 6'1"). Initially, I couldn't find the outlet. I eventually discovered that it' was hidden under the seat. And unlike the Hampton Jitney, the bus wasn't covered with a tacky looking wrapping. The bus left Manhattan at 1 PM. It was scheduled to arrive at Montauk at 4:15 PM. It arrived at 3:28. And with that said, the ride was far from perfect. The bus was as bumpy as a school bus. It was pure torture. The driver seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. He wasn't mean, just apathetic. Other than checking in people and announcing the stops in a soft voice, he said nothing. I paid $34 which is reasonable. The Luxury Liner doesn't run nearly as frequently as the Jitney or LIRR Montauk branch. Furthermore, you don't get the VIP treatment like on the Hampton Ambassador. If you're looking for a no frills experience and you don't care about comfort then the Luxury Liner is ideal.

It consists of 5 active terminals, 4 active runways, 1,200 daily flights. My wife and I came into JFK from LAX on a direct redeye flight, landing into terminal 4. The five active terminals are 1, 4, 5, 7, 8. Terminal 1 is being replaced (initial phase open in 2026, completion in 2030) by a New Terminal One (NTO). Terminal 6 is being also being built, replacing 6 and 7. Terminal 7 is still open, but will later be demolished to be replaced at a later time. With 2 major terminals being built, the airport is in a constant state of construction, a lot of which can be seen as you take the Air Train from one terminal to another. My perception of the airport is that it covers a lot of area, but was surprised it's not even close in terms of land size: (DEN [largest] at 33,351 acres, ORD at 7,627 acres, JFK at 5,200, LAX at only 3,500). Where it dose rank highest is around international flights, leading all US airports with 71,000 annual international takeoffs (42% of all takeoffs). In comparison, the two busiest US airports (ATL and ORD), have 41,000 and 54,000, respectively. Note: It is specifically stated that JFK resides in the borough of Queens. The city of New York consists of 5 boroughs, each also being considered a county (with the same exact boundaries as each other). This was the only example I could find where two or more counties exists entirely within the limits of one city (usually it's the other way around). There are many examples (San Francisco, Philadelphia, Denver) where the city and county share the same name and boundaries. Virginia is the other state (besides NY) where the term borough is used to further subdivide a city. He was super friendly, attentive and even changed the TV for us so we could watch the Mets game. He thanked us multiple times for coming in and we will absolutely be back. The great quality of the food, multiple TV's and it not being overly crowded will bring us back again for sure.
