Loved this brewery in Ithaca! I'm not from the area, so when I say that it's very conveniently downtown, take that with a grain of salt - but I thought the location was nice and easy to get to. Parking lot was a little tight for a large pickup to get through, but not a big problem at all. We tried several beers, all great! I particularly enjoyed the cider. And we thought the bartenders were super nice. It felt like a typical brewery inside - industrial, tall ceilings, metal, several long communal tables, high top, etc. Love the in house food truck. Ordering is really easy to do right from your seat if you want, or at their mini counter set up if you need help ordering. I liked that it was right inside, vs other breweries that have the food trucks outside and having to wait outside for your food, without your beer. :) Will def go back next time in Ithaca! read more

I enjoyed my time at the liquid state brewing company. I got the strawberry rhubarb sour and it was so good. My bf got the stray dog porter and a 4 pack of local vibe ipa to go and said both were really good. I was mostly exited for the food truck that have here (Silo) but it was just ok for me. We ordered at the table through our phones. I got the gluten'ous' to the maximus. The chicken wasn't great and wasn't even hot when we got it. The mac and cheese was crunchy in parts. The fries were really good. They have an outdoor seating patio where dogs are allowed. It's covered which was nice because we were a little worried it would rain. Staff were so rude I didn't even get the chance to like it. I went to meet some friends for lunch on their patio area but had already gotten a sandwich elsewhere because it was a spontaneous last minute decision. I didn't know about their strict no outside food policy because I had never been before. That was my mistake; however, one of the staff approached me and pointed out this policy in a very rude manor implying I had to leave. I obliged and thought that was a one time bad interaction. Once I was outside I sat away from the brewery and food track planning on eating my sandwich and then returning to order a beer and sit with my friends. However, a different staff member came outside to tell me I couldn't eat anywhere in the area, even though I was not in their restaurant or truck area, and stating their policy again extremely rudely like I had not heard and respected it. I had been recommended Silo/Liquid State in the past, but now I will never go again and I won't be missing much. read more

I really wanted to like Liquid State. I still really want to like Liquid State. So far. It hasn't let me. The interior of the space is gorgeous. There's tons of seating available, the bar is huge, the service seems very attentive, and I really like the decor and the old school arcade games and skee ball. The beer, however, leaves a lot to be desired. My friends describe me as a craft beer snob. It's not inaccurate. I have a beer rating app that I use more frequently than yelp (Untappd) and I've logged 1,400 distinct beers. BUT, I don't have many beers I don't like. My average rating is a 3.75/5. There's usually something to be said for just about every beer that isn't macro. I'm not sure that applies to Liquid State. I just haven't been impressed by anything I've had there, all of the beers taste very generic and don't have much character. My girlfriend and I have been consistently let down by their limited releases that typically feature a fruit variant on one of their regular beers, but turn out to taste pretty much like the original. At the end of the day, if you're looking for a chill spot to go with a big group and order a couple pizzas and have a few beers, Liquid State is your spot. If you're hoping for quality craft beer in the heart of Ithaca, you'll have to keep waiting (especially now that Bandwagon is gone ) read more

Visited Liquid State Brewing Company on Monday afternoon. A classic brewery that looks to old-world styles for inspiration. And while they did not have the same creativity of other up and coming breweries, you can certainly find a solid beer on the menu. Quality: Liquid State Brewing Company looks to old-world styles in its beer. This creates a fair amount of consistency, but it also is a little boring in todays craft beer world. During our visit we ordered the Join the Dark Side Beer Flight with Stache Black Lager, Stray Dog Porter, La Trapeze Belgian-Style Dubbel, and Isolator Maibock, as well as The Brewer's Picks Beer Flight with Surf Guitar Gose, Daypack Saison, Cloud Swing Belgian-Style Tripel, and Liquid Crush NEIPA. We also ordered the cask-conditioned Festbier Lage and the Snow Devil Winter IPA. All perfectly fine beers, but not many that stood out. The Stray Dog Porter was probably the best of the bunch, but even that was not a beer I needed another of. The mustard that came with the Bavarian Soft Pretzel, that was the best thing I tasted. A limited food menu, but even without the addition of beer cheese, they nailed the pretzel thanks to the flavorful mustard. Quantity: Extremely fair pours of beer, and the pretzel was a good sized snack. Value: $10 for a Beer Flight. $5-$7 for a Pint of Beer. $4.50 for a Bavarian Soft Pretzel With Mustard. Ambiance: Liquid State Brewing Company is located in Ithaca, New York. The taproom is quite large, a big indoor space with high ceilings and a long bar, as well as an additional semi-outdoor space towards the back. In the corner of the indoor area were a few arcade machines as well as skeeball, but signs were on them due to COVID. They had a few Christmas decorations up and were selling ugly sweater beer glasses, which was pretty unique. And in the background Christmas music played quietly. They have a small food menu, but a food truck also sat out front, though the hours are more limited than the brewery. Crowd: We arrived as they opened their doors, but were not even the first ones in. Two other groups entered ahead of us, with several others filtering in during our visit. Service: While I am not the biggest fan of preselected beer flights, it did seem to make ordering more efficient. They also took a rotation approach to service, with a different staff member assisting us whenever they walked by and saw we needed something. We enjoyed this brewery. I was skeptical based on the location and it looked empty, but it was actually pretty awesome. Good selection of beers, there were at least 2 I really liked that were not IPAs. While they don't have a kitchen, they do offer some snacks. We got a board with a large amount of salami and some really good smoked gouda and crackers. Prices were reasonable also and it's within walking distance of several good places to eat. Silo Fried Chicken, in permanent residence in the parking lot of Liquid State Brewing Company, is a must-try for exceptional fried chicken. Like Gus's, Prince's and Willie Mae's, this is a destination spot worth traveling several hours. The chicken is dense, moist, perfectly seasoned throughout and perfectly cooked. Available naked or with a variety of creative, thoughtful and delicious sauces. The sides are equally tempting. The Mac and cheese is definitive. The corn bread is impossibly light and moist, and is griddled crisp and served with luscious honey butter. Even the scratch-made pickles and pickled onions are done just right. I cannot recall ever having better fried chicken. Not to be ignored, Liquid State has great beer to wash it down. read more

Took the fam to Liquid State the day after Christmas for some beer. I was surprised at how family friendly the space is, with lots of games and seating. We were able to order takeout from a neighboring restaurant, and let the kiddos run wild all over the game area. Everyone enjoyed multiple beers from their long tap list, and staff were happy to keep us in quarters for the video games. Great new craft brewery in Ithaca. We have lots of great beer so always interested to see the new folks in town. This place is worth a visit. The vibe is modern with a truly industrial space. I only tried their beers, which were hoppy (my personal taste) so I really liked them with a favorite being the Lawn Dart IPA but they also have numerous beers from other brewers and wines for non-beer drinkers. Space was laid back, kid friendly and lots of onsite parking options which is great for Ithaca. They had a couple food options but this is something they could and maybe will expand, I think they partner at times with food trucks which would be great.
