The most delicious roast beef sandwich you'll ever eat in your life. It's a St. Louis tradition. They cook the meat to your desired doneness. There are quite a few choices for different types of sandwiches, including turkey and chicken, and the fries are cooked a special way where they are brined in salt. I highly recommend if you get a roast beef you get the barbecue sauce and horseradish sauce for it. And the frozen custard is epic. The kids meal has a lot of really good choices and they give you a cookie. We walked up to the counter and were served right away. It's a nice atmosphere inside with good lighting, lots of pictures on the walls, it has kind of a retro feel to it. read more

Lion's Choice is easily my favorite fast food restaurant. Everything is super fresh and made to order. They prepare the roast beef to the perfect temperature, but they'll also serve it your way if you want it overcooked. I highly recommend, adding cheese. It just makes the sandwich more flavorful. If you like their seasoning salt, you can have them add a few extra shakes from the shaker. When someone ask, "Who has the best fast food, french fries?" I will always answer, Lion's Choice. Their fries are thin, crispy and have skins on them. They're lightly salted, so for me, they are the perfect french fries. I like the condiment bar, where you can add different sauces and a variety of other toppings. For me, a lover of jalapeños, I always add a few to my sandwich. I also, appreciate the small paper cups that you can fill with ketchup to did those tasty crispy fries in. After a horrible experience two years ago while in St. Louis, my husband said we had to try again bc I didn't really experience Lion's Choice properly. Ok, fine. So, we were already over on this side of town running errands before heading to the airport so we drove through the drive-through of this one which my husband said he's eaten at 1000x at least and it's one of the best. He had the original sandwich and we got a kid's meal for our daughter to try - it was $6.99 and came with a choice of fries/veggies and cookie/shake with a drink and a small slider-sized roast beef sandwich. This one was MUCH better. The sandwiches were delish and the portion/quality of the meat was less fatty and much better. All in all - this did change my opinion of the place. I visited location, thru the drive thru, on 2/7/26. It was almost 10:30pm and I was happy that they were open. When I got to the window I could see that the counter person appeared to be working alone. When I asked her about that she verified (with a smile!) that she was working alone. She did not complain and was actually very pleasant. She did a fantastic job getting food out to the cars in a timely manner and my food was hot and the order was correct. Great job Tink! read more

I absolutely love Lions choice! I got the large roast beef meal. Side of cheese for fries. I love all the toppings at condiments counter. I can add pickles, onions all different sauces, bbq sauce, and some others but I forgot. The best fountain soda!!!! I luv the diet Dr Pepper. I love roast beef and before I made my way to the airport I decided to give it a try. The combo came with tasty thin cut fries. Jus the way I love them. The roast beef sandwich was good. In Wentzville from out of town. Thought we'd try something new, with a delivery to our hotel. Never tried Lion's choice. Regrets are many. The food did show up on time! 2 baked potatoes were made exactly the same, though they were not ordered that way. 1 was cold and not quite cooked. I had not ordered cheese or bacon on mine so the congealed cheese sauce and hunk of stuck together "bacon" bits was rather unappetizing. I didn't realize it would be difficult to get a baked potato with butter, sour cream, and chives, but apparently it is! Not to mention we asked for and were charged for extra sour cream but did not get that. 2 Italian Beef sandwiches with mild giardiniera peppers. 1 w/ pepper jack cheese 1 w/ "provel" cheese. What exactly is "provel" cheese, anyway? This sandwich was honestly the single most salty sandwich I have ever had! And I love salt. But there was so much salt it ruined the sandwich. My husbands was the same. Hopefully, we don't end up sick from this garbage. I don't know what the other reviewers ate there that gave 4 + stars but trust me it wasn't this sandwich! The only good thing about this meal was the mac & cheese and that was just good. All told (including tip and delivery fee) that was $45 we should have spent at Domino's, at least there you have a pretty good idea what you are getting won't be great but will at least be edible. Probably the worst food I have put in my mouth in a long time. The roast beef was dry and tasted like it was days old. The French fries were disgusting - bottom of the barrel - rock hard and tasted like they were found in the back of someone's Toyota and thrown back into the grease. Gross! Gross! Gross! No indoor dining after 8?? No ice tea! The "King" sandwich looked like a toddler frog prince (see pic). It was definitely not a king. The employees acted like it was a chore to even speak to me. Have past by Lion's Choice locations over the years on my way to visit family and never gave it a thought. Figured it was just like Arby's. Was very pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed the shaved roast beef and the choice of condiments. Fries were crisp and delicious. The employees were on top of their game. This place isn't only bad, it's dangerous. I ordered a regular roast beef and the sandwich I got was cold with red meat. I had pulled away from the window and went back to tell them it was bad. They asked if I wanted it well done and I said yes. The new sandwich had brown meat on the outside but when I opened the bun it was still cold and red in the middle, with something red on the bun today looked like blood. I ended up throwing it away uneaten. The "chocolate" shake was a vanilla shake with a little chocolate syrup on top. Hopefully it was safe to consume but it wasn't good. I came in today at 1:30 and it was busy in the drive thru. They were able to get me my food quickly and I was on my way home. I got home and took a bite of my sandwich and it was bright red. I opened it and my roast beef was extremely rare with a blood soaked bun and blood on the wrapper. I know Lion's Choice makes their stuff fresh and slices their meat so I can't believe someone sliced something that rare and served it to me thinking that was ok. Hopefully not many other people in that line ordered the roast beef. I had to throw my sandwich away and couldn't come back to replace it as I was at home with my baby during her nap so I just had to skip lunch. So disappointing. Hopefully they do some better quality checking before sending sandwiches out the window in the future. read more

It is one thing to raise your prices but when you shrink the size of the item and don't tell people they are paying more for less food it is really pathetic. When I unwrapped my Regular Roast Beef, I was shocked at how small it was. It has probably been around 3 months since I had one. Shame on you. So this place is a St. Louis 'must visit' for us usually. I have such fond memories of eating here with my dad (RIP) & of orange freeze outings on hot summer days. This visit was so disappointing. 4 words -- SWEET POTATO WAFFLE FRIES. I was tipped off on these by a friend of mine. Apparently the fries are seasonal. I don't even recall seeing them on the drive-through menu, but when I asked they had em. I got a regular order of the fries w/ a regular Famous Roast Beef sandwich for a bit over $5. When I'd asked for the fries, I was caught off-guard by an awesome question -- maple seasoning or marshmallow dip? That's right, you can slather your sweet potato waffle fries in MARSHMALLOW DIP. I decided that was too decadent to go at alone, so I went for the seasoning, which was like a cinnamon maple dust. It comes separately, it is up to you to put it on. All in all the fries were pretty damn good, and the maple seasoning kicked em up a notch. The roast beef sandwiches here are like crack. Something in that seasoning has me wolfing it down at twice the normal speed. It's probably some MSG-laced concoction. The sandwich is simple -- just bread and meat and seasoning. I've been to this location a lot recently to use the Lion's Choice gift cards I was given from a family member. This location seems to be a bit more consistent than the Chippewa location with how the roast beef is cooked. I opt for the Large Roast Beef Sandwich since I like the longer steak bun the beef is on. The sandwiches are well-seasoned, which is always a plus, though sometimes the bun is quite soggy. Earlier in the day you'll get faster service in the drive-thru compared to the evening hours. The service here is usually friendly, which is always a plus. Part of the lower rating for the review is for the recent changes to the frozen custard. I've been a fan of Lion's Choice custard since childhood, but lately it tastes really off-putting. I'm not sure if as a chain Lion's Choice switched over to different ingredients, but their custard now has a different taste, texture, and it doesn't melt as quickly (which is usually a sign that Carrageenan has been added). The custard just tastes really fake now and leaves a weird after taste in your mouth. It isn't worth ordering anymore, which is such a shame. I hope they bring the old recipe back. read more

This fish sandwich is a dull, tasteless square that is below even the worst frozen square you can get in a bag from the grocery store. Do not purchase this fish sandwich. We ordered dinner on Saturday, March 20th through the mobile app. When we arrived, we were apprehensive, because the wait in the drive through was about 20 minutes. When we received our food, the fries were ice cold and tooth breakingly hard, and the au jus had spilled into its unsealed baggy, so when I was taking items out, it spilled all over my lap. However, when my husband let them know our food was cold and I was wearing the au jus, they were incredibly apologetic, and went so far out of their way to make it right. They couldn't have possibly done more to make the situation right. The young man was so kind. I would visit this particular location over any other, because management has clearly done an excellent job hiring and training staff, and the young men working are exceptional individuals. read more
