Per a recommendation on Instagram, my family and I came here for breakfast on a day trip to SLO! We arrived relatively early on a chilly morning. We ordered and found a table in the back to sit at. Since it was a chillier morning, we were admittedly a tad cold at our chosen seat. First the drinks came out which were nice to enjoy whilst waiting for the food. I had a lavender matcha latte which wasn't too sweet! After a few minutes, the food came out as well! Everything was very delicious. My dish was a bowl with the contents of a burrito without a tortilla and it was sooo good. Everything was cooked really well so there was a balanced plating of textures and flavors. Overall, I had a really nice experience at Linnaea's. I would come back! read more

While visiting SLO for the weekend, dropped into this cute cafe to try their house blend of chai. Service was amazing, from ordering to personally delivering a warm mug & egg tartine to our outdoor table. The chai, however, fell far short of expectation. While I appreciate the effort of a house blend, it sadly lacked any spice or uniqueness. It was liquid, it was brown, and it had some sweet to it. But didn't get any hint there was spice. That may be what they were going for, but it definitely won't make my list of chais to come back for. On the plus side, the egg tartine was tasty and well prepared! And we had a wonderful conversation with a local at the outdoor seating area. Overall, pleasant eating experience, but not my cuppa chai. read more

Discovered this place while strolling around SLO I ordered a dirty chai and the cashier was super kind. My hubby ordered a latte and we enjoyed it while relaxing in the back patio. It would have been nice to have our drinks brought to us, but the person who walks them out to you couldn't find us and I had to go and check on them myself - but that was just a minor hiccup. I'd love to return in the future. Very curious as to why this cafe didn't pop up when we searched cafes. Cashiers said that this cafe is the oldest in SLO. read more

REAL CAFE!!! Scent of wood and espresso upon arrival so welcoming. Posters in the window and local framed art all a welcoming sign of real community hub. So homey feeling. Housemate pastries. Full menu. Looseleaf teas. Excellent coffee. I got the gluten free olive oil cake. So moist, vibrantly fresh, and insatiabley scrumptious. So many spots to sit here: outside circular tables with umbrellas, window bar, big living room feeling space with tables and plugs and a crammed bookshelf with books and boardgames, and then the oh so charming back courtyard with many sweet seating possibilities. Fantastic spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Not fancy, just good old fashioned diner food. Sit at the counter or wait for one of the limited number of tables. Seating both inside and out. We had a short 15 minute wait at noon on a Saturday. Not the fastest service which is fine. A great place to just relax and enjoy some comfort food. read more

Coffee, egg tartine, chat with a local while we're waiting? Yes please! This cute little cafe is a gem. Had an iced honey orange blossom latte which was divine. The sourdough bread here is fantastically sour, probably from the long fermentation. It paired nicely for the egg tartine. A tasty way to start my day. The gentleman who hung with us at our outside table shared some of his faves in the area and pointed us in the right direction for our next adventure. read more

We went to try a new coffee place and it was great service great drinks and great ambiance. We wanted a drink and I ordered the ambrosia turmeric. My daughter got a ginger loose tea. She had throat issues. So she felt a little better when she finished the tea. They gave her the bag of tea and told her to put hot water in it. They had a hot water dispenser for the public to use. She added some honey and ready to drink. She even made it a little less hot and drank it faster adding some cold water. I got my hot drink. It was kind like golden milk. I asked them not to add any sugar but the drink tasted sweet. I was in a hurry so I didn't want to go back and ask. It was not too sweet, it was very good. It had the kick of the turmeric. Really enjoyed except for the doubt of the sugar in there. They had sweet pastries and also they prepared food there. The place looked very inviting to go on the back and relax for a bit. Whenever I'm driving up and down CA I try to stop by Linnaea's Cafe to take a break. I get a matcha latte and maybe something to eat like a salad or quesadilla. It's a beautiful place, carpeted interior make argue ambience so cozy and homey, garden back patio with a live music stage. Food is fresh and tasty. Friendly staff who makes you feel welcome... Loved this cozy coffee shop! Ordered a drip coffee, breakfast burrito, and almond croissant. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick. The interior was cozy and had an older coffee house vibe but the exterior back patio was fresh with beautiful greens, brick, shaded areas and fountains. The drip coffee was really good! You get 1 free refill with your cup and they let us take our free refill to go which was great. Almond croissant was classic, no notes. And the breakfast burrito was nice sized and filling. It had creamery eggs with mild salsa, roasted potatoes, and black beans - it was a different flavor than I'm used to for a breakfast burrito but still really good! read more

Happened upon this place by accident. We wanted a sandwich / salad and we were just walking down the street and found this cute little spot. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. They have the most charming little backyard patio area, which seems like a popular spot for students that are studying or doing schoolwork. We ordered a harvest salad to split as well as some sourdough with jam and butter and olive oil & balsamic. It was just the right amount of food that hit the spot for something light but tasty for lunch. We'll be back again. read more

One of my fav coffee shops in SLO. The banana bread latte with oat milk is my favorite. Staff is super friendly. I'm here pretty frequently, and I've had quite a bit of the menu. Seasonal, unique drinks on rotation. The food has generous portions. Espresso eggs and the burrito are a yes! Yogurt and granola are simple yet yummy, fruit is fresh. Starving artist (vegan chili) is super filling. Fill disclosure, all the food is vegetarian/vegan, but still delicious. The staff are what makes this place. Super friendly, and the service is great! It can get busy on the weekend, but don't let that prevent you from stopping in for a visit. read more

We got the breakfast burrito and the caramelized onion quiche, both were quite tasty. Portion size on the rito could've been bigger, twas a little expensive for size but tasty. Quiche was delicious, fluffy and flaky. Honey Lavender Matcha was tasty, good ratios. Gibraltar was good. read more

Favorite secret garden of a cafe, absolutely stunning, and a calm in the middle of downtown. Even though every seat was taken it has such a calm relaxing atmosphere. The staff are all so helpful and sweet! Everything was delicious! We had the Banana Bread Latte with the Nut and Seed Blondie. The latte was the perfect amount of sweet and was creamy and delicious. The blondie was the best I've ever had! Salty, nutty, and buttery. Most blondies are too sweet but this was perfect! My grandpa had coffee (which wasn't hot) but still good, and Rhubarb Cherry Crumble Bar (I think) which was very good read more

I'm not sure what happened, but Linnaea's used to be good. I order a Gibraltar, and it was gross. The milk portion was really off and I could barely taste the coffee. I also waited over 15 minutes to get my drink and there was only one customer ahead of me. The cafe interior and garden are nice however. It's a good place to study or read a book. I'm not sure if I'd come here often though due to the price and quality of service. read more

The food looks good from afar, and the service initially appeared nice and orderly. The ambience was well situated given their small business building. I ordered two drinks and a pastry. One drink was iced and one was hot, yet I still received an incorrect order, along with an extra coffee cup we never asked for. To clarify, it was a simple order that somehow became too complex in certain eyes. There were three or four mistakes the cashier had made, and although he appeared apologetic, it felt disengenuine, as if he showed little care for our order as customers. After telling the young man multiple times that the order needed to be compensated, it was finally comped, but I did not get to enjoy the barista's drink that had been made with great skill and precision. I wish the young man at the counter had been more coherent and present with his community, as I felt he could be a potential star for that business. Whether he does not understand or is unsure of a customer's order, avoiding extra drinks, cold versions, or compliance mistakes would help make this café a wonderful experience. I found myself nearly negotiating to have my meal comped for the mistakes he made. His coworkers at the espresso bar made no errors and seemed fully aware that we had ordered correctly and simply wanted decent service, not social disregard or stigmatizing behavior. It did not matter my skin tone. I was still disregarded by this young man and pushed aside as just another account for the business. That young, confident arrogance did not help him, nor does it help a customer's perspective on a first visit. I will still give this café another try, as I am looking for a new place to study and maybe people watch some. I am glad I did not ask for the young man's name and even more patient with his naivety for now. read more

Stopped by SLO on the way to Moro Bay and all our Cal Poly friends wanted to hit up Linnea's cafe since it's one of their favorites. The popular drink of the group was the elderberry lavender rose cappuccino, which was perfectly blended and not over powered by rose which is hard to do! Inside smelled so good with all the fresh and tastey looking pastries. The inside seating portion of the cafe wharf vintage aesthetic, and the back patio had birds chirping, a little pond and a vibe covered over hanging: a great spot to study and have a delicious pastry and drink. read more

Just under new ownership, what a wonderful Vegan Bakery find. No it's not a pure Vegan bakery, however it has Many options... the back room reminds me of a old theaters viewing room from the frames projection windows on high. Such a quaint little back garden that they share with the next door. Quite a find! read more
