Discovered this place while strolling around SLO I ordered a dirty chai and the cashier was super kind. My hubby ordered a latte and we enjoyed it while relaxing in the back patio. It would have been nice to have our drinks brought to us, but the person who walks them out to you couldn't find us and I had to go and check on them myself - but that was just a minor hiccup. I'd love to return in the future. Very curious as to why this cafe didn't pop up when we searched cafes. Cashiers said that this cafe is the oldest in SLO.

REAL CAFE!!! Scent of wood and espresso upon arrival so welcoming. Posters in the window and local framed art all a welcoming sign of real community hub. So homey feeling. Housemate pastries. Full menu. Looseleaf teas. Excellent coffee. I got the gluten free olive oil cake. So moist, vibrantly fresh, and insatiabley scrumptious. So many spots to sit here: outside circular tables with umbrellas, window bar, big living room feeling space with tables and plugs and a crammed bookshelf with books and boardgames, and then the oh so charming back courtyard with many sweet seating possibilities. Love Linnea's!

Fantastic spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Not fancy, just good old fashioned diner food. Sit at the counter or wait for one of the limited number of tables. Seating both inside and out. We had a short 15 minute wait at noon on a Saturday. Not the fastest service which is fine. A great place to just relax and enjoy some comfort food.

The staff was very kind. Its a bit small in the front, but plenty of spaces to sit. I got a vanilla matcha and it was still very earthy. The food was also very good! Would be back

Very cute and quaint little spot. So cozy just to sit back, have your coffee, and let the world pass you by. The baristas even bring the food right to you.

The best food and tea. I filled up a whole punch loyalty card and will keep going back! It has the nicest back garden patio to relax on. Tables inside have outlets!

We went to try a new coffee place and it was great service great drinks and great ambiance. We wanted a drink and I ordered the ambrosia turmeric. My daughter got a ginger loose tea. She had throat issues. So she felt a little better when she finished the tea. They gave her the bag of tea and told her to put hot water in it. They had a hot water dispenser for the public to use. She added some honey and ready to drink. She even made it a little less hot and drank it faster adding some cold water. I got my hot drink. It was kind like golden milk. I asked them not to add any sugar but the drink tasted sweet. I was in a hurry so I didn't want to go back and ask. It was not too sweet, it was very good. It had the kick of the turmeric. Really enjoyed except for the doubt of the sugar in there. They had sweet pastries and also they prepared food there. The place looked very inviting to go on the back and relax for a bit. The staff were very helpful and happy. They were smiling all the time. Definitely a place to come back.

Cool place some a few gluten free vegan options but more lacto-ovo options. The herbal tea is unusually good. The outdoor area is quaint. We enjoyed what we ordered. Thank you!

We ordered the hot chocolate and it was served with a beautiful design on top that made it extra special. The flavor could've been just a touch sweeter, but overall it was rich, comforting and perfect for a chilly evening. Such a cute little café with a cozy vibe.

Loved this cozy coffee shop! Ordered a drip coffee, breakfast burrito, and almond croissant. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick. The interior was cozy and had an older coffee house vibe but the exterior back patio was fresh with beautiful greens, brick, shaded areas and fountains. The drip coffee was really good! You get 1 free refill with your cup and they let us take our free refill to go which was great. Almond croissant was classic, no notes. And the breakfast burrito was nice sized and filling. It had creamery eggs with mild salsa, roasted potatoes, and black beans - it was a different flavor than I'm used to for a breakfast burrito but still really good!

It just so happens that my brother in law told me to stop in San Luis Obispo during my pacific coast highway roadtrip, told me it was a really cute area he thought I would love. Little did he know at the time, there is a coffee shop, the BEST coffee shop in San Luis Obispo that's called Scout coffee and Scout is the name of my brother in law's daughter AKA my niece so this was fate. Fate I tell you. I came here later in the day on Saturday right before closing, the shop is just adorable, really sweet tables outside on the street and some seating inside as well. They had some delicious looking pastries in the window and they had merch. Yes I came for the coffee, sure but I came for the Scout merch for my niece when she grows up and wants to drink coffee out of a mug and thinks it's just the coolest thing that her Aunt went to California for the sole purpose of buying her this mug, or something like that. They had mugs alright, $18 a pop. They had some t-shirts too that were PRICEY and sweatshirts that were even pricier. It was a bummer because they didn't have a lot of size options and when I asked the staff if they had more in the back they were not the friendliest bunch. Anyways, got two Scout coffee mugs and a Scout coffee travel sticker and of course a coffee. It was late so I had a decaf americano and went on my way. I came back the next morning for a regular drip coffee and the place was busy! This time, the guy helping me behind the counter was an absolute sweetheart. We made some small talk and it put a better taste in my mouth from my experience with the staff the day before. They don't use sleeves here and I LOVE THAT. I hate sleeves on coffee cups I really and truly do. They tied a napkin around instead and I've never seen that before. The coffee was delish, love the name of the shop, love the merchandise.

Learned that they offer milkshakes as their frozen drinks so ordered a coffee flavor with no whip cream. It was $8 for a regular size so a bit pricey for sure. Friendly staff, efficient in how you order and receive your drink and yes...they are busy and it takes a tad of waiting for your order. Dog friendly patio out front.

If I lived here, this would be my GO TO spot for ALL my coffee needs. The space is thoughtfully designed with many furniture pieces from repurposed goods. It is spacious with a light, bright airy feel. All the "baristas" were so welcoming and friendly. They seemed to enjoy their job and their coworkers. They set off a very cohesive vibe. I wish I could have spent the morning just being there but had to leave for a funeral. So many things caught our eye! The baked goods were devine. The T-shirts were super soft and I would have bought one of they had our sizes. The roasted coffee beans were priced fairly. I haven't even gotten to the coffee yet! There were so many iced coffee/cold brew options it was really hard to choose. We ended up selecting the Lemon Pistachio shortbread cookie, a Ginger Molasses cookie, a seasonal scone: Honey Cinnamon, an iced Latte and an iced Vanilla Bean Latte: 1/2 sweet and a bag of Classic Espresso beans. My only sadness was I should have gotten a large latte instead of a regular. We saved the desserts for after the funeral and enjoyed the yummy coffees on our way. The Ginger Molasses cookie was perfect. Moist and chewy and not too much ginger. I should have bought more! The Lemon Pistachio cookie had a lovely balance of lemon zest and fine pieces of pistachio in the cookie and a not too tart lemon glaze and pieces of pistachio on top. It wasn't dry or super dense either. Someone making these is an experienced baker! The Honey Cinnamon scone was the best scone we have ever had. It was messy but so worth it. It was past 7pm and the place was still hoppin' with groups on the outdoor patio, back room lounge and main area. It has more of a restaurant/club vibe than a coffee shop which gives it a special charm. When asked about their chai the friendly barista was happy to share that they don't use dry powder, they use a spicy concentrate. That's one plus!! But, it's not a house brew, it's basic Third Street Chai you buy off the shelf at the local grocer, chef supply, or natural foods store :( To their credit, they heat it up well and top it with a fancy cinnamon design on the milk foam. When asked if there is a local chai, the barista (who is a chai fan) couldn't think of any. This explains why the local reviews were so good for mediocre concentrate. Outdoor seating, indoor group seating and even a few private seats in the corner that give it a VIP ambiance. Hidden inside was a narrow lounge area with turntables with a bar area at the end. But I went back on Monday, June 8th and had a very different experience. I ordered 2 small cups of hot chai with extra foam, extra hot and 1/2 sweet. When they were done, both were "heavy" meaning they felt like there was no foam. I checked and yup...no foam. I mentioned it to the barista who said "no problem. I'll do them over". They were done quickly, but still felt "heavy". I didn't want to go back and figured "it's just me". I got into my car and tried one. It was 90% the same as before. She simply scraped a sliver of the drink off the top and added a touch of foam. Plus...the liquid was "thin" meaning she nearly scalded the drink to get it hot. The 2nd chai was the same way. And the shop wasn't even busy at the time. Everyone at the Nautical Bean is friendly and the vibe is great, but next time I'll take my own advice...even if that means going back to the barista twice to get things right.
