    Breakfast burrito

Mint mocha - pretty good! Minty and chocolatey Breakfast burrito - not as much filling as I would've liked. There was also too much tortilla

This place is cute and unexpected. The ambience is 90's skate/grunge. It has the best decor (in my opinion) without being tacky. Tons to look at while you wait for your food or drink. They have a couple TVs and even arcade games. There's a corner where you can set up to work on your laptop as well. The staff was super nice and d helpful when I didn't know what to order. We ordered two sandwiches, a burrito, 3 fancier coffees and cookie for about $45. The chocolate chip cookie was a hit. My California bagel sandwich was delicious and fresh. The croissant sandwich (switched with a bagel because they were out of croissants) was a hit with my picky daughter and the breakfast burrito was good. My husband wished there was more salsa in it but it was still good. It had cream cheese which was different but tasty. I got a white lightning at the suggestion of the barista for something caffeinated but sweet. Definitely needed more cream but it did have a good flavor and once I added more cream it was exactly what I was looking for! My husband got a vanilla latte and he loved it. My daughter got a blended mint chocolate chip drink. So delicious! Would recommend and come back!

Oh Warriors...? Come out and play-ee-yay!?!

Greeted immediately upon entry, we were happy to see at end of day there were still pastries available. The Blueberry muffin tasted great and we appreciated the heat up. My Mint Chocolate Mocha was fantastic. The real winner was my wife's decaf black and white latte! Loved the interior decor and how spacious the establishment is. "Oh Warriors...? Come out and play-ee-yay!?!" (See picture!) Will definitely return as our prime SLO coffee shop (beating out all others. And there were plenty we were disappointed with!)

California eggel on. Sesame seed bagel. Tasty.

Nice location along the Bay. Tasty well prepared breakfast foods. We had a California eggle, Mom's eggs, orange cream drink and hot chocolate. Smaller portions. Like a one egg omelette size. The avocado was fresh. All for $33. So a breakfast in the more pricey side. It's a pleasant place to eat breakfast though. Good outdoor seating with a view of the Bay.

Chicken Chipotle Sandwich and pomegranate drink.

I was in SLO to have a tire on our car checked for a leak. I asked the service manager at the desk about a nearby place to eat. He mentioned the cafe across the street which turned out to be Nautical Bean. That was a fortuitous recommendation for me. It was a short walk and worth it. The place is coffee house and bistro. I ordered the chicken chipotle sandwich and a blended pomegranate drink. The sandwich was excellent and came with Asian cole slaw. The drink was delicious and refreshing I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the time in the bistro which is creatively and artistically decorated with old photos and memorabilia. The next time that we are in SLO and want lunch, we will navigate to Nautical Bean.

    Breakfast Burrito with bacon.

I don't know what it is about SLO, but with each visit, I get this hankering for a breakfast burrito. Nothing fancy needed, eggs, bacon, potatoes and cheese, the perfect car food. Sitting in my car in front of one lone cacti, sipping coffee with one hot burrito, this is how Wednesday mornings should be. Employees were easy going, it's clean and fits the vibe of SLO.

One of my favorite coffee shops in slo because I love the choice of signature coffees, they have a solid food menu, theres lots of seating (although busy at times) and the decor is awesome. I got the shot in the dark (dirty chai) and it's delicious. Great vibes here and nice to sit and work

This place has beautiful and fun decorations. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. I ordered Mexican Mocha with macadamia milk. They have so many milk substitutes if you are lactose intolerant, which I absolutely love. I also got the breakfast burrito, which has decent portions (worth the price). I also got the Vermont Maple Muffin, which was divine. The service was kind and quick. Definitely will be coming back to this place.

FunkTastik! Nautical Bean has morphed into it in past 5+ years? We dig it!!! Food, pastry menu is great. Drink menu is always wonderful. Service quirky and smiley in a great way. Ambience cool, cozy, funky with great music!!!

Nice decor with a down to earth feel when you first come in. Lines feel long at first glance but seem to move quickly. Good options for food and coffee with a few interesting options. My food seemed to take awhile longer than the rest of my party's to get done but when it came out it was well worth the wait! Staff is friendly and inviting and the food came out great (Had the ham and cheese croissant and the Sol Bowl with their white lightning coffee. Based on my party's reaction to the food they all enjoyed it too and they all enjoyed their own coffees, mine was a vote of 2/3rds for it being good

    Mexican mocha coffee
    Robin L.

Such a cool coffee shop! Theres lots of space if you're local and want to do some work or meet up with friends. We tried the Mexican mocha coffee and to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Breakfast food was okay but I'd probably stick to just coffee here if I came back again. Really friendly staff and a fun shop overall.

Visited the coffee shop twice in one week while in the area. Service even when busy is efficient and with a smile. We enjoyed the Iced Mochas very much but was not a fan of the Hot Mexican Mocha as was sweeter rather than having a kick of heat. Sandwiches both lunch a breakfast are very good. I really enjoyed the Navy special breakfast. Please remember this not a place for big choices for bagels as the usually have only 2 or 3 kinds. The ambiance is eclectic for sure with loads of skateboards on the wall.

Like the cool touches every you look.

On our way to San Francisco, we took a slight detour to grab a cup and found Nautical Bean. What a gem! When you walk through the doors, you are quickly set back int to a laidback fun in the sun type atmosphere. The walls are filled with the type of decor the reminds us why we live California. I was taken back and loved it! Coffees are great here. Whether you're craving a hot latte or cold brew, this is the spot. Plenty of sweets to choose from, including vegan options. The staff was friendly and professional. So glad we stopped by. This quaint little place will always reminds me of San Luis Obispo.

If I lived here, this would be my GO TO spot for ALL my coffee needs. The space is thoughtfully designed with many furniture pieces from repurposed goods. It is spacious with a light, bright airy feel. All the "baristas" were so welcoming and friendly. They seemed to enjoy their job and their coworkers. They set off a very cohesive vibe. I wish I could have spent the morning just being there but had to leave for a funeral. So many things caught our eye! The baked goods were devine. The T-shirts were super soft and I would have bought one of they had our sizes. The roasted coffee beans were priced fairly. I haven't even gotten to the coffee yet! There were so many iced coffee/cold brew options it was really hard to choose. We ended up selecting the Lemon Pistachio shortbread cookie, a Ginger Molasses cookie, a seasonal scone: Honey Cinnamon, an iced Latte and an iced Vanilla Bean Latte: 1/2 sweet and a bag of Classic Espresso beans. My only sadness was I should have gotten a large latte instead of a regular. We saved the desserts for after the funeral and enjoyed the yummy coffees on our way. The Ginger Molasses cookie was perfect. Moist and chewy and not too much ginger. I should have bought more! The Lemon Pistachio cookie had a lovely balance of lemon zest and fine pieces of pistachio in the cookie and a not too tart lemon glaze and pieces of pistachio on top. It wasn't dry or super dense either. Someone making these is an experienced baker! The Honey Cinnamon scone was the best scone we have ever had. It was messy but so worth it. If you want an entire coffee experience, you have to visit Scout Coffee on Foothill Blvd in SLO. You will not stop thinking about what a beautiful experience it was after you've gone.

Very Good - But Don't Be A Lazy Customer…read more.... The Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road is my go-to place for sandwiches and drinks in that part of San Luis Obispo. - Overall: 4 - Location: 5 - Exterior: 4 - Ambiance: 5 - Menu: 5 - Sandwiches: 5 - Drinks: 4 - Service: 4 - Price and Value: 5 - Parking: 5 - Bathroom: 4 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the western part of SLO. This outlet of the small chain is on Los Osos Valley Road near the corner of Madonna Road in a shopping center. - Menu: It's not just drinks. They've got a sizable menu of sandwiches...lots of pastries and the usual drinks. - Ambiance: Casual. Many tables inside and 2 patios...one in front and a smaller one in back. You'll find students on computers and friends sharing a table. Music plays in the background. - Food: Excellent. My wife and I stop by once a month before visiting a local doctor and split a sandwich for lunch since they're large enough to easily divide. My favorite is the Tuna Melt ($18). Each comes with a nice salad. For people familiar with restaurants in the San Jose area during the 1970s, 80s and 90s...the sandwiches will remind you of the Good Earth. - Drinks: From excellent to okay. Besides visiting with my wife, I also drop by before or after other doctor appointments. That's what happens as you get older! So I'm a semi regular. I usually get the same thing - A medium hot chai with no whipped cream...extra hot and extra foam. On February 25th, I had one of the very best drinks in my life. A few days later on March 2nd, it went the other way. My hopes were initially raised when a talented young woman (who might be a manager) took my order. Unfortunately, someone else made my drink. The first version had no foam...so she emptied some liquid and added foam. I got to my car, started drinking and realized it was lukewarm - not extra hot - but I was tired, probably lazy and just finished it. It wasn't even busy in the shop. - Service: Always friendly. - Price and Value: Lots of good food and drinks for a fair price. - Parking: No problem. There's a lot in the front and a big one in back. - Bathrooms: Not bad. There are 2 behind the shop - both are usually quite clean and come with a code you get from the employees. Cons: - Consistency of the drinks: This is a problem at almost every place I've tried.....except The Tribe in Arroyo Grande. Most of the drinks here are very good, but people should not be on the front line unless they know what to do. Overall, the Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road makes great sandwiches, has a fine selection of pastries and does a good job with their drinks.

One drink was iced and one was hot, yet I still received an incorrect order, along with an extra coffee cup we never asked for. To clarify, it was a simple order that somehow became too complex in certain eyes. There were three or four mistakes the cashier had made, and although he appeared apologetic, it felt disengenuine, as if he showed little care for our order as customers. After telling the young man multiple times that the order needed to be compensated, it was finally comped, but I did not get to enjoy the barista's drink that had been made with great skill and precision. I wish the young man at the counter had been more coherent and present with his community, as I felt he could be a potential star for that business. Whether he does not understand or is unsure of a customer's order, avoiding extra drinks, cold versions, or compliance mistakes would help make this café a wonderful experience. I found myself nearly negotiating to have my meal comped for the mistakes he made. His coworkers at the espresso bar made no errors and seemed fully aware that we had ordered correctly and simply wanted decent service, not social disregard or stigmatizing behavior. It did not matter my skin tone. I was still disregarded by this young man and pushed aside as just another account for the business. That young, confident arrogance did not help him, nor does it help a customer's perspective on a first visit. I will still give this café another try, as I am looking for a new place to study and maybe people watch some. I am glad I did not ask for the young man's name and even more patient with his naivety for now.
