I found them on Yelp when searching for somewhere to have a pageant gown altered and am so glad I stumbled across them. My gown required quite a bit of altering as the sides (almost all the way down the dress), length and shoulder straps all needed adjusting. Linh was so kind and meticulous with her work when fitting me that I instantly knew I went to the right place! You can tell right away that they have experience will all different types of garments and truly do want you to look and feel your best once the work is done. Additionally, I brought in an extra piece of chiffon fabric I picked up from Fabric-Mart to have added onto the shoulder of my gown as a shoulder cape/train. It was this vision I had in my head and Linh really made it come alive! It looks like this piece was on the dress to begin with! Seamlessly was added to the shoulder. I always take my clothes here to get tailored when I'm in Hawaii because Linh is extremely talented. She does a great job every time. This review is specifically for my recent experience with her when I took my traditional Vietnamese dress to her. I purchased a traditional Vietnamese dress that was made in Vietnam for my rehearsal dinner. When I received it, the zipper was really hard to zip up & down. Unfortunately, the zipper broke 6 days before my rehearsal dinner! I nearly broke down in tears because I wasn't sure if it could be fix in time. There was a lot of beading/appliqué on my dress and I just knew it would be very difficult to fix & it would take a long time to do. I took it to Linh and crossed my fingers that she could help me. Lo and behold she told me she's able to fix the zipper on time for my rehearsal dinner! I was jumping up for joy and hugged her & my mom. When I received the traditional Vietnamese dress back, the zipper was 10x times better than before. It had no problem zipping up and down, I was thrilled and thanked Linh a million times! Linh is a miracle worker! She took an ill-fitting bridesmaids' dress and tailored it with less than a week to go before the wedding (I'm a procrastinator) at such a reasonable price. The tailoring was beautiful and even though she had to do some major alterations, she managed to do so in a way that made them look like part of the dress's design. The shop is very clean and she has two fitting rooms for you to try on your garments in. She also has a website where you can book appointments online which made things super convenient. Linh herself is very kind. She and her husband (I believe husband?) are both warm and welcoming. Linh worked with me to figure out the best way to alter the dress and was so sweet about it. Take your business elsewhere - they don't even want your business. I called prior to going in to price check a very simple hem shortening of a bridemaid's dress. Nothing fancy, single layer, polyester hem. The man on the phone quoted me about $30 then told me it was okay to come right away. I fully understand it's an estimate, sight unseen, things can change. Thirty dollars wasn't exactly what I was hoping to pay but it's in the price range for a formal dress. Twenty minutes later, I was in their shop with my dress and the heels I was going to wear to the wedding. It wasn't my first alteration done on a dress. Let's face it - I'm a tiny Asian woman, unless I buy my clothes in Asia, the fashion industry isn't made for us. Practically everything I wear is altered in some way. Once I'm in their shop, the owner Linh takes a five second look at my dress and tells me, "Okay, FIFTY dollars. Be back Friday." "UMM. WHUUUT. This is only a single layer, simple straight hem that you have to take up half an inch." (A little backstory: I understand varying levels of difficulty in alterations. I come from a family that all know how to sew, some that make their own clothes and have businesses in the industry. If I had a working sewing machine, I'd sew that puppy myself. But I'm crazy busy and I'm here trying to support a small business.) She practically throws my dress back at me and tells me, "Okay, you go somewhere else." DAMN, LADY! JEEZ! I had called three other places prior to going in, two didn't answer and one was on vacation. My dress had come in with limited time for this mainland wedding so I was in dire straights. She was my only real option. So, I dealt with her attitude, stood in teenage-angsty silence as she did her fitting, and forked over the fifty dollars then crossed my fingers she wouldn't mess up my dress out of retaliation. I picked up my dress that Friday, tried it on at the store and the length was as it should have been... but FIFTY dollars should have been?? I don't think so. I was the only bridesmaid from Hawaii in that wedding. The other girls needed resizing on their sleeves, darts taken in, hems shortened, all on the same dress. Did any of them pay close to what I did? Nope! They paid about $20-25 each - and they live in Orange County, CA - it's a comparable price tag to Hawaii's cost of living. Will I ever return here? Absolutely not. Would I ever recommend getting alterations here? Maybe I caught her on a bad day, you never know what people are going through. But according to the other Yelp reviews on here.. it seems like a reoccurring problem that's hurting business. I haven't received my altered dress yet, I just dropped it off, but I am sooo happy with the service I received. Linh is very sweet & thorough. :) I set my appt for 10:30am via the website, which is very easy to use. And I received my confirmation email instantly. I liked that the website provided a lot of information, like which days the shop will be closed (ex: holiday/Chinese New Year). The shop is very clean, has a nice ambiance, & great lighting. There was a big tv (security camera) that I used to look at myself at diff angles. Linh greeted me when I entered and we went over my alterations needs (bridesmaid dress needed to be shorten & tucked in) and the estimate. Before we started working on my dress, she told me that it might take a while to pin the hem, so to let her know at any time if I needed to sit down and rest. When she was pinning she always checked with me to confirm if I was happy with the adjustments and comfortable. Since I had my appt at 10:30am, I didn't eat anything yet and was planning on going to lunch right after. That was a mistake! After standing for a while in my heels, I suddenly felt very dizzy and a little nauseous, and let her know. I was kinda embarrassed because I felt like I was being a bother, and wish I sat down earlier. But Linh was sooo nice to me, she helped me sit down in a chair & kept reassuring me it's ok. She asked if I ate anything, and when I said no she gave me oranges, cookies, & water and told me to just eat and rest. I really appreciate how she was so caring, and had such a kind attitude the whole time even though I was taking up so much time. After I felt better, she got right back to business and worked very efficiently on my dress. When finished, I walked around to make sure I was happy with the length. She is very knowledgeable, and explained to me what she was going to do to help make my dress fit me better. The checkout process was fast and I got the 10% discount yay! It's convenient that they takes credit cards and I liked the pick up ticket I received, confirming the pick up date and alterations. My fiancé booked an 11am appointment on a Friday. She showed up, there was a sign on the door saying that they were out until 1pm, no answer on the phone. My fiancé is disabled: coming into town is a big deal so we booked a helper to assist her. I would highly recommend Linh for any type of alteration services needed, but even more so for wedding dresses. She truly turned my dream dress into reality! I purchased a wedding dress from a boutique and was quite happy with it; however, I wanted to give my idea at purchasing a knock off designer dress from China a shot. Mind you, the dress I purchased from China (DHL) was in addition to my primary dress which I had already purchased at a bridal boutique. After doing some research on wedding dresses from China, I figured it wouldn't break the bank to order my "dream" dress for much less via China. Dream dress designer means the gown was a ridiculous amount that us normal folk cannot typically afford - ha. Long story short, Linh was able to modify the China dress I purchased and did so wonderfully. I ended up using the China dress for my primary photos and the boutique dress during the reception. When we recently sold our home, we donated a lot of clothes, accessories, household items, and furniture. One of the items that I donated which I sort of regret doing was my "beloved" Husqvarna sewing machine that I owned and used since the 70's. I grew up sewing so I was always "handy" with performing my own clothing alterations (mainly because I'm short) or repairs. Oh, I have missed my sewing machine! But, my recent experience has distracted me from the loss. I recently purchased a new pair of denim jeans which has a good fit but unfortunately was unavailable in petite length. I checked my handy Yelp app for a seamstress in my neighborhood and found Linh's. I called to see if I needed an appointment to bring my jeans in and was told that I could just come in. I also asked what the charge would be for hemming and how long the turn around would be. Yay! The price is $12 and turn around time is usually 4-5 days. Easy-Peasy...I brought my jeans in while wearing the footwear that I'd normally wear with these pants. Linh was with a client being fitted for a beautiful sun dress. She directed me to one of the dressing rooms and to step up on a stand once dressed. I waited a scant minute while the other client stepped off her stand to her dressing room and Linh came to measure and mark the length that I desired. I changed, paid ($12) for the alteration, was given a receipt and told that my garment would be ready within 4-5 days. I wasn't in a rush, so, that turn around time worked for me. As I was leaving, her husband (?) gave me a chilled bottle of water which I gladly took because we've had very warm and humid days. I picked up my jeans and noticed that Linh had matched the thread color to the rest of of the jeans. The stitching is even and the NEW length is perfect! I'll be coming back to Linh for my future alterations...her workmanship is top notch, service is friendly and prices are fair. read more

I'm a fan of another alteration shop for all of my alterations, EXCEPT for my jeans.... I take ALL of my jeans to Linh for alterations. She does the MOST AMAZING, MOST METICULOUS job at hemming jeans keeping your "original hem." Somehow she's figured out how to cleverly hem. Linh's Alterations is part alteration shop and part pawn store. You walk in and you'd never know they do alterations until you see the pile of jeans folded on the table in back. Great service. Pick up in a week. Price is good $15 for "original hem. I'd pay a lot more especially if you're spending $100 - $200 on a pair of jeans. You need to have trust in who is cutting, touching your jeans. One mistake and ooh...it wouldn't be a nice scene. Linh are her husband are SUPER COOL! Great taste, too....a few pairs of jeans I took in, Linh loved so much that she went to buy the same pair. I needed to alter the length on my maid of honor's dress for my wedding. I looked up the reviews on yelp since I don't normally take my clothes for alterations and this was all new to me. Based on the reviews, I felt confident that Lihn's could do a good job so I called to make an appointment. They are at the top of Keeaumoku next to Chevron. We parked in the stalls along the wall of Chevron. It says it's for a restaurant, but we went at off-hours for the restaurant so the stalls were empty. Once we got inside, Lihn was very helpful! She explained the proper length for long dresses and where the lining should be hemmed to as well. She made sure that my maid of honor was standing in a particular way so that she could get accurate measurements. It took her about 5-10 minutes for her to pin the dress. After that is payment, and we were all done! We picked up the dress a couple weeks later and it was great! Will definitely be coming back in the future for any other important alterations. I can't say enough about Linh's. I bought my wedding dress on the mainland and came here based off of Yelp reviews. My dress needed to be hemmed, taken in and it has a lot of detail. It really didn't fit right but the dress was beautiful. I was worried about picking the right person to do the alterations and my God am I glad I came here. From the first appointment she took great care in listening to what I wanted and explaining how she can make the dress fit me. I was recently part of a bridal party and needed to have the bridesmaids dress tailored. I found Linh's Alterations through Yelp, which had a lot of positive reviews. It appears to be a family run business, with great customer service. I initially made an appointment to get a price estimate on the alterations needed, which they were able to provide for me quickly. The dress had to be hemmed in length and taken in at the waist, and totaled about $95 (this included a 10% discount for first time visit and tax). I opted to go with them since they seemed sincere and were able to do it within 7-10 days. I tried on the dress that day - where they pinned and measured it for alteration. When I came to pick up the dress on the scheduled pick up day, I tried it on once more and it was still slightly long in the front, so they asked me to come back a few days later, taking the date I needed the dress by into consideration. Overall I was pleased with their service. It seemed a bit pricey, but I guess for the turn around time and their detailed work, I was willing to pay. I'm disappointed at the service I received despite all the glowing reviews. I took a favorite Kate Spade dress to have the zipper replaced since it kept splitting. The alteration took a week or so which was very easy to pick up the first time. I tried the dress on when I got home and immediately the zipper split. I have several other dresses of the brand and they all have the same type of zipper hardware. To me it looked as if they tried to repair the zipper instead of replacing it. I went back in to have them replace it, which they agreed to do a redo. I picked up the dress a week later thinking all would be fine. It took about 30 minutes to find my dress and they were shuffling though all of the slots with other garments. They finally retrieved it from the back with another zipper safety pinned to the side of the dress. Cool... I was happy to have my dress back. Unfortunately, when I went to inspect the zipper I realized it was the same zipper (with same splitting problem in the exact same spot) and just some generic YKK zipper safety pinned to it. So my thoughts are that the dress got lost in the mix and that they had the intentions of making the repair with the other zipper but never got around to it. So out 30 bucks with a broken zipper, but at least I have a new one not attached to my dress. I'd like to take it back a 3rd time, but my trust is lost. read more
