Extremely disappointing experience. If you don't want to read all of this: this place is overpriced, and will ruin your items. I brought a brand new bridesmaid dress -- literally took it out of the package in the shop -- for a simple hem and to be taken in slightly at the sides. I was charged $130, which felt completely unreasonable for the minor work done, especially after talking to the friend who referred me here who had a denim jumpsuit altered in several places for $50. When I picked up my dress, it had pulls in the fabric and was hung by a delicate off-shoulder strap, causing it to stretch and start to tear. Completely careless handling. Pricing here seems inconsistent at best, and I couldn't help but feel that I was overcharged unfairly compared to others I personally know. Pricing is inconsistent and questionable. Zero attention to detail. Look elsewhere read more

I took two dresses here a few years ago. One was a very my expensive MOH (Maid of Honor) elegant gown for my friend's wedding. Beautiful dress! It needed several alterations though as it was a couple sizes too large. Angela did an amazing job! I cannot remember the exact cost, but it was reasonable considering the work that was needed and the excellent quality of the tailoring. I also brought another, much less expensive dress in comparison, and she was happy to help me with that dress as well. I felt the cost aligned with the services needed and the quality! Angel Tailor is one of the best mom and pop tailor shop or any adjustment to the clothes. Angela is the owner and I first met her when I needed pants adjustment for the suit. She was very kind in helping me through and guiding me fix my needs. Being a denim head, I have love for wearing one denim for very long time. The one I brought to her was probably repaired over 80 times, but I needed more work. She adjusted the denim to the perfection and added new button to the denim that made it more easily wearable. Avid jeans user here and have had countless experiences having them shortened. On this occasion I rought 2 new jeans of same brand and same length which i tried on each individually and prepinned at home- very straightforward and have done this so many times without issue. However, in this instance one came back 4 inches longer, very odd but things happen. When I asked (on the same day of pick up) to have her redo the jean (which to me is reasonable) the owner said she would have to charge me same price. There was no discussion and no compromise of any sort, she did not even care to discuss with her worker that did the alteration as to why one of the jeans was four inches longer and she just immediately took the hard stance that i pinned the one jean a whole 4 inches off. Rather than consider that the other jean was fine and that they were the same brand, model and size she only put effort into giving me theories as to why I may have pinned it 4 inches too long (none were logical). She basically implied it was impossible they made a mistake. The take away is IF you decide to roll the dice by coming here do as much as possible to fully document the work request or be ok with significant deviations to your request as i get the sense that the business model is to prioritize pushing out volume at the expense of quality and customer satisfaction with no real quality controls in place. The owner will not reasonably work with you if there is any issue which was very likely caused on their end, she gets very defensive immediately. I advise save yourself the anxiety and explore the many other alternatives, there are many in the area as well as in chinatown. read more

Angel Trailor has been hemming my Lululemon pants and crops for years, but I've only met her (stepped foot into her shop) last week when I had to take my 2 LL shorts in for alteration. Usually I would make my purchases from LL (they deliver and pick up the items from Angel) and then return a week later to pick up my items from LL. They only pay for the hemming alteration, any other types of alteration- you're on your own. I needed the back air-vents sewn shut on my 2 new Run:Speed Shorts. I asked a sales rep at LL which alteration shop they hired for their hemming service, I needed someone that was familiar with the company's fabric material. Each of my shorts costs $54, didn't want to take it to just anyone. I dropped the shorts off weds night and picked it up fri from Angela. She did a terrific job and it was really affordable, compared to other places. read more

The WORST alteration job on a pair of jeans that I ever saw! I bought a pair of jeans at a store that takes their merchandise to Angel Tailor for hemming. Although Linh's always does such a great job on my denim, I decided to give Angel Tailor a shot and had the store do the alteration (with Angel) instead of bringing it myself to Linh's. I was devastated by the quality of work Angel Tailor provided. The thread color used was nowhere near a match with the color of the thread on the jeans. The stitching line was also extremely crooked, and the double thread stitching was loose and puckering in an uneven fashion! I was so upset I brought the jeans back to the store to see if the place kept the scrap pieces, so that I could use the original hem. Fortunately they did, so I was happy, thinking that now I would now be satisfied. After all, how could an original hem look bad if it's the original hem, and the thread matches?! WRONG! Angel Tailor did this weird thing where there were two hems, and a third piece of material stuck in the middle (because their two hems were crooked and they couldn't cover up the extra material in between). Again, all of the lines were crooked and did not match up. The first hem (the one not at the bottom but right where they attached the original hem) was thick and lumpy, and stood out noticeably. Oh well, at least now I had the original hem back. I took my jeans and ran to Linh's, who gave me back a perfect original hem...no lumps or weird lines, just a smooth transition to an original hem! Lesson learned. read more

I had a unique custom job for Angel Tailor to undertake, and she did an amazing job. The new authentic Nike NFL jerseys have really long sleeves that look nothing like the tailored look the players wear on the field. I bought a brand new jersey with sewn on numbers and lettering, and wanted the sleeves altered. 2 other places in Honolulu turned me down saying they were unable to accomplish this feat. I took it here next, and she was able to remove the number patches, reapply them, and shorten the sleeves when two other businesses said it could not be done. The jersey came out perfect, and I am extremely grateful. If she can handle this type of alteration, she can do anything! I definitely recommend going here! read more

She can rush items too, as I have asked her since I waited until the last minute for my birthday dress and she came through with flying colors! On the 12th I took my wedding dress to the shop needing some cups sewn in and some minor alterations. Told seamstress that my wedding was on the 21st and asked if this was a doable timeline. She assured me that it would be done by the 19th, possibly even the 18th. I showed up at 1100 on the 19th and she had completely forgotten about my dress!! I had a long list of things to do and this threw off my entire agenda. There was no apology and no price adjustment given. Don't come here!!! Worst alteration job ever! So I go to Angel for all my alterations. You name it, jeans, prom dresses, gowns, pageant dresses, blouses etc. I've been going to her for years! I was recently accepted into the EMT program over at KCC, and it's manadatory to wear a specific uniform that's similar to what city and county EMT's wear out in the field. I manage to order the EMT pants online because it's really difficult finding a store anywhere on the island that sells female EMT pants. Being short in height, I needed to hem them. So naturally I took them to Angel. She had me try them on. I told her I'm wearing work boots with these pants, so she measured it out and pinned the appropriate length (I had her take in the pants by the waist a bit too). Paid $60 for two pants and told me to come back in a few days. Came back in a few days to grab the pants. I was in a rush so I didn't get to try them on. Next day I put on my pants and the hem is two inches above my ankles!!! The other pair was about 1 inch above the ankle. Both of them were uneven and short! I was shocked and stuck in a bind. I had no choice but to wear the pants because it's mandatory to wear uniforms throughout the EMT program. I took one pair back the next day to have her fix it and she told me that I must have washed them and it shrank. So I told her that I haven't even washed them yet. The tags were still on. But she pushed aside my comment and told me she'll fix it, free of charge. And she told me to come back in a few days so she can fix the other one, since I needed one pair for class. I came back again and she did an okay job lengthening it. She had to add extra material to make up for the lack of fabric needed to do a proper hem. So I hand her my other pair and she goes ahead and says, "I have to charge you $10 for this one." She said it was my fault that it shrank since I washed it AFTER it was hemmed. I tried to tell her again that I hadn't even washed them after she hemmed them, when I picked them up the first time around. I said someone must have messed up the hemming cause it's not only shorter than its suppose to be but they're also different lengths from one another. Then she goes on to tell me that I should have washed them before I brought it in because this kind of material shrinks. That's not even the case!!! (Which btw, the pants did not shrink when I washed them later after all this was said and done.) She didn't seem to understand me. She continued to blame me saying that it's my fault that the hem is wrong. I got frustrated and told her that I was disappointed that this happened, hemming is not a difficult alteration to do and that I came here all the time with much more difficult requests. She said "I know you come here all the time. That's why I don't charge you to fix the first pants, but I have to charge you for this one." I was being charged for a mistake they made!!! And big whoop, she "supposedly" saved me $10 after all the stuff I've been bringing to her. I ended up saying that I don't plan on coming back and I walked out. And as I was walking out she says "it's not my fault, it's your fault." I'm appalled!!! I've been her loyal customer for at least 10 years. I've recommended her highly to everybody I knew. And honestly I wouldn't have minded paying to have her fix HER mistake, had she not blame me and just apologized. If she didn't blame me and apologized, she would still have me as a returning customer. I'm not okay with blaming a customer for a mistake that was clearly the companies fault. TLDR: Don't come here. Angel doesn't give a rats booty about her customers. She'll mess up on a simple hem alteration. She'll blame you for it. AND she'll charge you to fix her mistake. Two messed up jobs later and I'm done with this place. Took in 2 pairs of jeans a while back to get hemmed and have them turned from bootcut to slim/skinny style. The jeans were pinned from my knee down and I made sure she understood not to take them in at the thigh or hip since they were a perfect fit in that area. Come back a week later and pick them up without trying them on. Don't ever do that. I put one pair on later that evening and the damn jeans won't even go up past my knees!! So I flip them inside out and they've taken in the jeans one full inch from the hip all the way down to the hem. On both jeans. Apparently no one listens at this shop. Took both of them in and when I ask her why they did that (mind you they cut off the extra fabric so it can only be taken out so much now) and she said it needed to look even. No. It need to look like a skinny bootcut. And the best comment yet, "you kinda thick in the thigh area, that's why they don't fit." Seriously. She fixed them, but they're still tight on the thigh since they didn't have enough fabric to take them back out fully. Round two, caved a few weeks ago and took in a dress that's been needing hemmed & taken in for a few months. $45 for this. Again, made the mistake of not trying it on at pick up. Tried on the dress today and it's like the dress wasn't taken in at all! Flip it inside out, and sure enough, taken in 1/4 inch when it should have been a full inch on each side. I pretty much paid $30 for nothing. Never returning. There's way too many tailor shops around to keep giving my money to someone who can't take something in but charges an arm & a leg! read more

Just spent almost $80 on altering two uniform pieces. Received it in a crumpled and wrinkled ball. The least she could've done was press them and hang or fold them nicely. And my usual tailor in Aiea always ask if I want to try on my altered pieces tk see if it was to my liking. No such option was given here. Not impressed and will not likely return. Plus, I wasn't impressed with the bar patrons hanging out smoking nearby. I guess there's a lot of bars in that shopping plaza. read more

I am never disappointed with any of my alterations when I come here. They do a really exceptional job and I can always count on them to get it right. I've gotten about 15 pairs of jeans/pants, a couple of halloween costumes, and some dresses altered and all were absolutely perfect. You can try on your garments inside and angela will pin it to your liking. Service is fast too..your clothes are usually ready within 3 days. Prices are also very reasonable with a pair of jeans having to be shortened costing about $12. read more

Angela is AMAZING!!!! First I will say about two years ago I was trying to find somewhere that would do a asymmetrical hem on my wedding gown she was the only one that would do it! Go to pick it up and it looked amazing! Fast forward to present day. My husband was looking for somewhere to go after the lady that did his alterations moved.He likes things super slim and knows what he likes. Tried a couple places then walked into angel tailor and she is amazing. Reasonably priced and she also does the alterations in a decent amount of time within a week. She's also super sweet.. No problem with simple, obvious hems. But if you ask for specifics, Angel's staff screws it up. I asked for a certain length, width, keep the hemline, etc. and they never get it right. even after pinning, my garment comes back WAY shorter, or tighter than it was originally pinned. This has happened with more than 3 garments. I'm ready to try someone else. Also, they do not iron/press the garments. It comes returned crumpled in a bag. At least fold the shirt so it doesn't wrinkle more than it has to! read more
