I took a chance and searched up alterations on Yelp. Sew.and.me had good reviews and was conveniently located. I texted to make an appointment and she (the owner) responded within an hour. I set up a time to meet on a Saturday. It's a tiny shop between Hairspray Salon and Kumon. I texted her when we arrived and she let us in. Never got her name, as she didn't give it. She was polite but not warm and fuzzy. To be fair, I think English is her second language so I didn't hold it against her. We showed her my daughter's prom gown and she said it'd be ready by the following Saturday. I wasn't in a rush but two days later she texted saying the gown was done! We went back, tried it on, and it looked great. $70+ tax, easy transaction, and fast work. No complaints. Parking is metered or there's limited street parking. read more

I was looking for a place to take my daughters to get their jeans hemmed and since we live in Kaimuki, finding a place close to home would be super helpful! Yelp is always my first check, but then I went to Google and came across this lovely establishment. I called Woomi, and explained what I was looking for. She was so sweet and told me to come down. We were so happy with the finished product. It was a simple hem job, on a single layer jean, but my daughters were stoked that they could finally wear their skater jeans!! Thank you Woomi! We will definitely return! PS - if you need a rush, it will be extra, but like anything else, thoroughly explaining what you want ahead of time will help both parties be happy and satisfied with the end result. read more

Excellent service with reasonable prices. If you are looking for a good seamstress check them out. I brought several dress slacks and jeans for them to alter and all were perfectly done. Umi did an excellent job on the jeans by leaving the border of the Jean leg the same as when it was purchased. The Jean looked like it had never been altered! 5 stars service, value and friendly staff. Call them before heading over. They take customers by appointments only. read more

What a neighborhood gem! I needed to find someone to make minor alterations to my daughter's HS banquet outfit, which of course was only a week away. Woomi was awesome! She made suggestions about how to make the sleeves tapered and after explaining it, said it was very easy and asked if I was sure I didn't want to save money and do it myself. I didn't want to risk it (tricky fabric to work with) so had her do it. And of course, even though she was super busy, she got it done for us within just a few days. The results were perfect and my daughter was super happy! As was I. This will be my go-to place for alterations. Super easy parking and great snack/food options all around. We are traveling to a soccer tournament and my grandson is only 9 month old. We all had custom jerseys to support his sister in the tournament and I wanted something for him. I was hoping someone could turn one of the custom jerseys into a Onesie for my grandson. I went to 6 different businesses and none were willing to even suggest an idea, since they all said it was impossible. After nearly giving up, I saw Sew and Me on Yelp. I called and she asked me to bring what I had to her shop. Long story short- OMG- she turned it into a 9 to 12 month onesie, so my grandson will be in uniform with all of us at the tournament! It is the cutest thing- she was friendly, very affordable and such a joy! For those projects you think are not possible- go to Sew and Me! They are the best!!
