Thinking it was my coolant leaking, we came across this auto shop with the fear that our trip would have to be postponed or just excruciating driving through SoCal without AC. But the idea mechanics inspected my car thoroughly and said nothing was wrong. It took some trust on my end to proceed with the trip after. And the smell somehow slowly dispersed after. Later, I found out that the cleanser for my friend's dog had leaked from the bag and had been circulating throughout the car, ha.
