After retrieving my car yesterday, I encountered abnormal noises midway through my drive home. Concerned, I decided to stop at the next exit to inspect the vehicle. Upon examination, I discovered that a critical mechanical component had failed due to gross negligence during the reassembly of my car. Recognizing the severity of the issue, I determined that it was unsafe to continue driving and arranged for the vehicle to be towed. The following morning, upon further inspection, I observed multiple mechanical failures, loose screws, and missing parts. This is utterly irresponsible and unacceptable as it could have caused a fatal accident. After emailing them, they have yet to respond even after a couple of days. How you can forget to properly reassemble a car is beyond me, considering that you are a mechanic shop. Not even the plastic trays under the car were reassembled properly, causing one of them to be missing as well as multiple screws. read more

I've been bringing my car to Car Code for a few years now. I've had several oil changes and also some other work done as well. They are very to the point and up front and I like that type of service when it comes to a mechanic. I have an extended warranty that they have honored and the process was unencumbered. They even discovered some shoddy work that another place did on my car. I usually call a few days in advance to let them know I am coming in and I will wait on the service to be done in their lobby. They work on all types of car, and for me personally with a "foreign" car, I like that they know their stuff. read more

I love this place because customer service is really good and friendly there. Thats one of the most important thing and gives me an impression i want to come back. Their reception area is clean and bright and i feel comfortable being in there waiting or talking to the technician. They have a couple different location nearby to accommodate customers need. Car Code's code: They don't value your time, and blame you THE CUSTOMER for all their shortcomings. Nice! Called for an oil change and the best time for it. Was told 12:30 and it would take about an hour. And was told I would be notified when finished. I did not leave with my car until almost 4pm. At the 2 hour mark I called in 3x going straight to voice mail. Decided to go in person. Walked in and was ignored with a worker sitting at the front desk. Was not until I almost had to walk behind the counter and ask about my car's ETA before I got a response. Was told the mechanic was out on break. I followed up with when will they be back? He said 15 min. I then replied how long after that; He says 20 minutes. This was already 1.5 hr past the time I was told. So I check back in 30-35 min later, the mechanic just got back, all the while no apology, no update on their part and just another hour of waiting! Finally when they ring me up I bring up the 3.5 hr delay from the ETA I was given and what way they could rectify this and the lack of communication? The counter man then proceeded to blame me for exaggerating and throw the other employee I talked to on the phone under the bus. When I pressed on with the time I lost he then blames the lack of workers, and also the economy, and that he loses money from oil changes. TMI? I respond with you waste almost 4 hours of my time when I was told 1hr and that it was not communicated that way, if I knew I would have come back at a better day for everyone. Kind of amazing since it seems like if he could blame the trees outside instead of just owning up to the terrible communication he would. No one is off the hook god forbid blaming a customer for a service they can't provide in a fashionable manner. Don't come here they hate you and your time! read more

Took my 350z for an oil change on Friday. The tech didn't put the dipstick back in all the way and oil spilled out all over my engine bay and exhaust. I'm not sure how you mess up a job that's so basic. I will not be coming back and would not recommend this place. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I took my 08 cayman for a "whining" noise from the engine bay. They said it's coming from the front wheel well. I told them I doubt it because the whine noise goes higher when in gear and disappears in neutral. I let them "fix" my front wheel for ~1k the day I get it back I swear I hear the same whine but think it's my imagination and within 10miles of driving the water pump goes out. The whine is a known sign of the water pump about to go. These guys do NOT know what they are doing. Nice car wash though! read more

TLDR: Got a $1,000+ repair at Car Code that I found out was broken 1 year 2 months later. Car Code insists it's because of faulty parts without even looking inside the car and tries to sell me a near full-cost repair again. You won't see the problems until after you get work done here. Car Code did a repair for me 1 year 2 months ago for a leaking oil pan and valve cover. Total came out to be $1,000+ which seemed like a good deal compared to the dealership. But recently when I went to get a service check up, they said that I had the same problem again! Fixes like this are NOT supposed to fall apart in a year, especially when my mileage is low due to the pandemic. I went back to Car Code and was told their warranty only covers 1 year and since I found out 1 year 2 months after the repair, they would not cover anything. (In fact, the part likely broke even earlier, I just didn't catch it yet.) When a repair breaks so quickly under normal driving conditions, it's likely due to POOR INSTALLATION or FAULTY PARTS. Guess which one Car Code insisted was the reason without even looking in my car? Then they tried to sell me on a $1300 repair with a oh-so-generous $60 discount for the part. How could anyone trust them with that when their first "fix" fell apart in a year? Now I'm looking at a $1,000+ repair bill AGAIN just a little over a year after getting it done by Car Code. I called them for the first time on Monday, and a man answered the phone and said that only Friday and Saturday would be available. So I hung up the phone to check my time and freed up Friday time. Their phones are difficult to get answered now, and they are not as willing to answer calls as they used to. I called a few times before someone answered. Another man said that I can deliver it on Tuesday, and I have to adjust the time again. I drove the car over early on Tuesday morning and their staff said it would take 2 hours. So I left and came back after 2 hours. I thought I could leave, but the front desk said that my car hadn't been repaired yet and that it would take an extra two hours, which is a total of 4 hours. So he drove the car over, and I had to wait. Talking nonsense about time is a waste of other people's time，which has never been the case before. In addition, they are more than $100 more expensive to replace the spark plugs than American tires. Their front desk said that because American tires use inferior products. I saw their guests call, and the front desk clearly saw that there was a call, but they didn't answer it at all. Maybe They tired of new guests. In short, the service is not as good as before. read more

Car code is my FAVORITE auto shop that I've ever been to. I would feel confident in saying that they are the best in the area. Louis & Thuc (happy birthday Thuc!) are very personable & took great care of me & my car. I needed new rear brakes & a valve cover gasket & they gave me prices that were more reasonable than other estimates, & were patient & clear in explaining what my car needed & how they would fix it. There was a small issue with the rear calipers being delayed for over a week, but that was their suppliers fault not them, and they more than made up for it with a discount & putting the car back together to let me drive it until the part came in without charging any additional labor charges. They also changed my burnt out tail light & filled my wiper fluid without asking! I 100% trust them with any future work on my vehicles that I either don't have the time, energy, or confidence to tackle myself & highly recommend them to anybody in the area who needs car repairs. & it looks like from their Instagram that they only opened late 2018 - keep it up guys, with this standard of service & such a cool space & shop cars, I think you will become legendary & a household name for all car enthusiasts in the east SGV / west IE / north OC! read more

Just a follow up to my previous review. Verified with another car shop and car code did not replace rotar any wheel. So I paid for nothing.... And they tried to make me pay for the same job and charge more. Stay away from this shady business. Took it to America. Tire depot where they showed me the original rotar and did the work for $400 less then what car code was going to charge for work they should have done last year. read more

Tl;dr, oil change went from a 40mins job to a 2-hour job because they couldn't follow simple instructions. Took my car in for an oil change this morning for $25 as I provided the oil, filter, and washer. Told the front desk worker, who was nice and friendly, to not use the whole gallon of the oil, and there should be around 200ml left in the jug since my car takes 3.7qt max with filter. Being the first customer at 8am, got my car back at around 9am. Since I had 2 oil jugs in the trunk, I just checked to see how much they left in one jug. Shockingly they filled up more than 4qt since I am missing 1 jug, and the second jug was used for about 150ml. They overfilled the engine oil so they apologized and drain it out. Front desk worker was very helpful to show me and make sure they drained the right amount of oil out, props to him. Got the car back at 10am, finally good to go. Customer service was pretty good, not the mechanics though. If they can't even do a simple oil change properly, would you trust them for more complicated tasks? Think twice before you go to this place. read more

Always excellent! I had a 2015 Kia Soul which was leased and this was the only shop I trusted. Prices are fair and they dont try to rip you off and they are very knowledgeable and their waiting are is very friendly and accommdates your technology if you need to work or catch up on social media :) they have free wifi, outlets to charge your phones, tablet etc. and now ive heard they even have a cafe so thata a huge plus ! Never have I ever had to wait so long for nothing. I came in on a Thursday morning with only one other person in the lobby to get tires on a normal economy car. Just asked to have tires mounted and an alignment. One hour goes by, a another guy comes in but I'm thinking they're just finishing up. Another half an hour, the original guy leaves. Fifteen later the guy who came in after me leaves. Apparently they got busy but half their employees are just standing outside hanging out. I asked the guy and he said a half an hour later they'll be done with the alignment. It's been 2.5 hours now and they don't even have the car on the ground after the tires. I took off without the alignment to a better business who took care of me right. Don't come here if you value your time. read more

The one stop shop! A friend recently recommended I get my car serviced here for general maintenance, but also mentioned their other services. Last weekend, my car got T-boned . Same friend informed me Car Code also has a body shop! I was a little skeptical about auto service doing body work, but they actually own the body shop next door! Brought my car in yesterday for an estimate, and while there got an oil change. Saved me a ton of time getting both done at once. Extremely professional and courteous. And really reasonably priced. Best place ever. I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. My father is a now retired mechanic so I'm somewhat aware of what costs "right" and what doesn't. I received a synthetic oil change and check up of coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, etc for $50. I even had the dust/plastic shield hanging under my car and they told me upfront that I didn't need to repair it. They secured it to me for FREE. There are definitely other shops that would have advised me to replace it and possibly upcharge. I really appreciate the transparency, kindness and honesty here. I first came here in 2017 and the customer service was amazing. Not sure what happened in past few years but just everything about this place is no longer the same. Scheduling an appointment doesn't mean anything as it feels like they'll see you when it's convenient for them. The level of professionalism has just gone down the drain, and level of care just isn't there anymore. I can't stop referring my friends and family to this place! They do such a good job and thoroughly explain car problems to you before giving you an accurate quote at reasonable prices. They even are sure to call you if they have to add on $15 for a part they forgot to mention! They run diagnostics and if the problem is easily fixed they don't charge you! (I've paid $80 once to someone to tell me my gas cap wasn't screwed on tight enough.) My synthetic oil change is way cheaper here than anywhere else and did I mention their customer service is TOP NOTCH!? TLDR: dope place. 100% recommend. I was skeptical at first because other reviews said the MANY 5 star reviews could have been left by fake accounts BUT after my visit, I know for a fact this place is legit. I am leaving my review based on 3 metrics: customer service, transparency, and value. Service: 5/5: The service was great. Everyone in customer service should take notes. These guys are super down to earth. Shout out to James. Transparency: 5/5: so there was this plate under my car that was dragging on the ground and I was told by another repair place it would cost 400+ to replace the piece (immediate red flags). Car code took a look and told me the piece wasn't super urgent to fix, and that it was ultimately my choice to move forward with fixing it. No BS, which I appreciate. They told me that in there honest opinion, it wasn't super worth it to replace cuz it was only a small amount of damage. Value: 10/5: they fixed it for me for FREE. Granted it was a temp solution, but it beats paying 400+ to replace a part that I didn't absolutely need fixing. Plus they did it super quick. I originally came in with a blown oil filter housing gasket. Pros: James Wu is super nice and friendly. He was very accommodating and called me to ensure that I received the quote he sent over. My diagnosis took an hour longer than estimated, so he waived the charge. He was also transparent about the pricing and removed coolant charges when they determined they didn't need it. Prices were reasonable and the turnaround was only a day. Cons: After my diagnosis, the shop also found things wrong with my strut arms. They made it seem like it was a must replace. I checked in with a second opinion, and was told that it's more of a nice to have. James Wu would later call me and agree that this was more of a nice to have. Pro for James Wu, con on the mechanic. I appreciate them pointing out other possible fixes, but they should've told me it was more of a nice to have. I left my car with the shop, and was told it would be ready by 12 noon the next day. I was told specifically that if there were any delays in the parts, I would be notified. At 1pm, I called to check in. The part was delayed, so I was told it would be ready by 3pm. 3:30pm rolls around, and then I receive a call saying my car is ready. By the time I pick up the car, it's now 4pm. That's four hours later than I was told - I was going to use my car to run errands during the early afternoon. All in all, clean and friendly shop that had good communication at times, and then poor communication at other times. As with all mechanics, I would always get a few other opinions. read more

I want to give a shout out to Rodney, Andy and James, the guys at Car Code, for the great work they did on my M4. Not only did they do a great job of fixing my car bumper after I was rear ended, but they also made my car look SICK, yet clean, with the installation of the Remark axle-back exhaust (carbon-fiber tips), spacers to both front and rear wheels to give it a more aggressive stance, and the carbon fiber front lip and side skirts. My car now looks and sounds AMAZING!!!! Thanks guys and I highly recommend everyone to go there for your automotive repair/aftermarket needs. read more

I really wanted to like this place as it is walking distance from my home however things did not go as planned - i went in for a new radiator, headlight wire-harness replacement and headlight replacement 1. When dropping off/picking up the vehicle i was sadden to see several employees without mask let alone one particular individual that was raised money to pay medical bills yet still there with no mask. LOVELY 2. as i was getting quotes for the work i needed to be performed i was texted one price for work as i tried to get more clarification as the price seemed to good to be true they then told me a completely different price over the phone- ultimately i had to ask for a written quote to be emailed to me as i was not comfortable with how the prices kept changing. 3. work completion was not done on time and no update was given - i was told early next week was not done till about end of the week. i had emailed them checking status however no reply was given except i did get a call later that day saying car was done. 4. once i received my vehicle i immediately went home and noticed that 1. the wires were not properly secured 2.headlights were not aligned correctly they were pointing straight down instead of straight. 3.coolant reservoir was completely empty. 5. I took video and pictures of issues and have submitted to them via Email, James has replied however we are currently in the middle of discussing a solution since i had to resolve work that their tech failed to do. Until then i will post my review and hope that do come to a fair resolution for both parties so i can continue to use them for all my other vehicles. read more

I got an after-market clutch installed at a different shop and immediately started having issues with it. After a few failed attempts and getting nowhere, I decided to take it to Car Code to see if they could figure it out. Gary and his team took the time to listen to my concerns and investigate the issue, rather than dismiss everything I had to say like my previous shop had done (as most shops do to us ladies...). They discovered that my new throw out bearing was already toast, the pressure plate was warped, and my transmission's input shaft was damaged and could not be repaired. I ended up needing a full transmission, clutch, and flywheel replacement and they were able to get the parts ordered, installed, and test driven in less than a week for less than $4k. Since they had to take off my exhaust to access the transmission, they also installed my new one at no additional cost (and even found a shop to repair my old one)! I highly recommend this shop to anyone. Everyone on their staff is a car enthusiast and they don't just work with/on cars for a paycheck. They appreciate the cars that come in and take care of them like their own. read more

My advice for any car owner (esp. German) would be to shop around for quotes, depending on what service or job you need to have done. The slew of 5 star reviews here are no joke, though. I came to Car Code back when its name used to be Walnut Auto Care, and this place is a far cry from a typical small auto shop. The staff here take initiative to greet you and they brief you in every step that they are doing. I had gone in to get a check engine light on my 328i diagnosed and Raul and Wei were very helpful in running diagnostics; they initially only found error codes that were vague but didn't just send me off on my way from there with no further answer; they ran deeper diagnostics to ensure my car didn't have any leaks that may be contributing to the error codes. In the end, they reset the engine light for me but told me to call them back if the light came back on. Calvin kindly waived the fee they would have charged for the diagnostic test. I eventually had to bring my car back in the following week since the check engine light came on again. Jody was helpful and updated me many times throughout the repair process (I needed the temperature sensor replaced). End cost was expensive, but not outrageous. The first time customer 10% of and credited diagnostic fee were pluses. The office of the place is small but clean and modern with a large screen TV, sofa, magazines, and coffee machine and refrigerated water bottles for you while you wait. Think a car dealership, but what sets Walnut Auto Care apart is that the staff here are sincere and treat every customer with attention and care. read more
