My husband and I triple checked with the waitress that if I ate the 'gluten free Riverton pizza' would I be safe? She assured me multiple times yes that I would be. When I asked "is it baked in a separate pizza oven?" She replied "do not worry about cross contamination". She basically dodged the answer 'no' it wouldn't be in separate gluten free oven. But I took her word for it because I am a server also at the Belden house and mews, in litchfield. We are trained to take allergies seriously. If the answer was that 'sorry it's in the same oven as regular pizza' I would have gotten a salad to be safe. But again, I trusted that there was no cross contamination. However, I immediately got sick after one slice, had to cut dinner short, went home and immediately went to bed cutting my visit short with my out of town relatives. I'm just very disappointed that she didn't take my allergy seriously resulting in my evening being ruined when a simple solution of me getting a salad instead would have been better. This happened last night (Friday 8/14 at 6p.m.) I just hope next time when someone has an allergy she takes it seriously. She provided us with a list of nearby spots to checkout! For being an airport hotel, we had no noise concerns! The room was nice and spacious and clean. They do have a shuttle to and from the airport that is 24/7. You can call when you land and then schedule it the night before departure. The continental breakfast provided us with a wide variety of options too. We'd recommend to anyone with a quick trip and looking to be near the airport. We lived in Avon and now reside in Greenwich so I was looking forward to my quick stay. I tried to make some small talk and mentioned that I had lived at this property for seven months between the sale of our home and moving into our new one. I also explained that I had two separate reservations for consecutive nights and asked if they could be combined. Ms. Jennifer told me I would have to check out in the morning and check back in because one reservation was booked with a free night certificate and the other with points. I explained that I would be leaving the hotel at 4:00 a.m. for major surgery and that my 18-year-old son would remain in the room until I was ready to be picked up afterward. She informed me that because he was under 21, he could not stay in the room alone. She suggested that I complete the check-out and check-in process on my way to the hospital, which was exactly what I was hoping to avoid. During our conversation, she simply placed two bags of peanuts and two bottles of water on the counter without saying they were complimentary or offering any explanation. It felt abrupt and impersonal. She also could clearly see that I was having difficulty walking and had just told her I was there for major surgery. Despite that, we were assigned Room 233, which was quite a distance from the elevator. In addition, the room was a studio rather than the one-bedroom suite I had expected. On our way out to get something to eat, I asked if the hotel was fully booked. She replied, "No, why?" I answered, "Because you couldn't have given us a worse room than the one we received." Her response was simply, "That's how they design them." The entire check-in experience left such a poor impression that I called Marriott and canceled my second night's reservation. Instead, my son stayed with a friend in town. The next morning, when I came to the lobby before leaving for the hospital, no one was at the front desk. While waiting for my Uber, I noticed a woman asleep under a blanket with her feet stretched out in front of the fireplace. I chose not to disturb her, but it certainly added to my concerns about the overall experience and safety. Having lived at this property for seven months in the past, I remember a much higher level of hospitality and customer service. Avon, what happened to the service we used to receive?

It's great if you want to feel like a guest in someone's house, but not if you want to stay in a nice place. I recommend Airbnb if you want the "house feel," or you could just book a hotel (which is what we ended up doing).
