It's not a pretty sight...seeing your husband uncontrollably frothing at the mouth over the…read moreorganized clutter. But this is exactly the effect that finding a superb, modeler's warehouse (such as Rare Plane Detective in Cathedral City) has on Mr. B. He lives for places like this. I completely blame the owner, Jeff. He apparently has quite a reputation for attracting sellers of model kit collections. He is internationally known. His reputation is solid, he guarantees every purchase. His business moved from Las Vegas about 3 years ago, but he has been involved in these kinds of sales, both in a storefront location and online sales, for three decades. There is nothing remarkable about this location. It is a small, unmarked, hole in the wall hidden in an industrial complex. The front room is a seating area with a black leather couch and chair, tv, and coffee table where a partially completed puzzle lies in wait for an OCD spouse to finish while the other half peruses in the back for the next hour or two. Just sayin'. This is a business that has three, floor to ceiling shelving units that extend the entire length of the shop, stuffed to the gills with boxes, somewhat organized, but not really. The jaw dropper is reading each red dot label proclaiming prices that are far lower than your friendly local modeler's shop. OK, so some of the models have been opened, some may have even been started then pushed aside, but others are in pristine shape. Some are treasures, quite old and hard to find. Some are collectors quality, some are more low end quality for beginners. There are military planes, tanks, ships, military vehicles, classic autos, diorama setups, tools, paint, and on and on. You never know what you will find, the inventory is constantly changing. And if you want to sell your collections, he is the man to contact. Between you and me, I suspect the sellers are widows and wives who furtively sneak into their hoarder husbands' collections in the back room with the intent of unloading decades worth of collections so they can have room for more shoes and purses. Yes, that must be it! I know my husband would never, willingly sell his.

I cannot say it any better than the previous reviewer Wendy. This is my husband's happy place. The selection is constantly changing which brings all model lovers back again and again.

Gamer's Haven is a relaxing place to play role playing games and such away from home with like minded people. Most of the gamers connect through the website meetup which shows the date and times gaming groups play. They regularly look for new players. The establishment has an extensive collection of roleplaying books for a variety of games. Think of it as a library of sorts only devoted to roleplaying. The owner/manager(s) (Dave) are thoughtful and considerate men who appear to run their business 1st to provide an atmosphere where grownups can enjoy each others company like a book or chess club only role playing games. Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Warhammer 40k, Rifts and card games like Exploding Unicorns and such. They have three private rooms for private gaming. The place is mature. You can bring your own beer as no one there is under 21 and everyone is polite. They have a membership program ($35 a month) but you can pay by the day ($5 a day). First day of play is free as a trail to see if you like it. They take cash, venmo, etc. They also have some paints and figurines if your into personalizing your character piece. Gaming materials (dice and such) for sale and can order. They even have a 3d print you can use by the hour (they charge by the hour). I like their snack section that comes with a number of candy bars, nuts, ramon, ice cream bars and drinks. They have a microwave, frig, and sink.the place is made up of 3 sections. The back appears to be dedicated to Warhammer 40k. They have free wi-fi at Gamer's Haven too. Overall I think the place is a must see once in your life as an alternative to the library. Your not in an awkward position of having people over late at night if you have kids and such. However, unlike the library their hours are open past 8 pm. I think members can stay after management leaves with membership access. They have security cc cameras inside and the doors lock after you leave. Atmosphere: 6 star. Clean. Fair temperature. Wifi Service: 5 star. Quality: 5 star. They have a gaming table with a monitor. A collection of gaming books. Value: not sure of the going rate in the industry. Still if one lives close enough and has they friend to play with its better than online gaming or watching TV

While these card games can be played online, nothing beats the face-to-face interaction with other players. While I don't play these types of card games, I can certainly tell that there was a good/healthy vibe from this room of players. I was impressed with the amount of parent with children players. Food is allowed to be brought in (please clean up after yourselves). While I was there, on a Tuesday early afternoon, there were at least 25 folks playing games with plenty of room for other players. To play there is free. As you can see from my inside pics, they have lots of card games for purchase. Each staff member has playing experience, and one of them is bound to be familiar with your game - if you need advice or recommendations. They also sponsor tourneys for you serious types. So follow them on Facebook or Instagram for details. Parking can be a bit tricky in downtown, but I found a spot on the top level of the parking structure and walked past 3 on Citrus on my in. As of this writing, they belong to the Redlands Chamber of Commerce.
