Best lunch/dinner in HR. You don't need all that fancy overpriced food in Downtown you need this place right here.

Wanted something different on a recent trip to Hood River and out of the tourist area. This fit the bill! It's tucked in the in a strip mall next to the Walmart but don't let that stop you! Friendly service and the ambiance is a little stark but the food is great. read more

Lilo's BBQ - Kahlua Pig (large) - Barbeque Near Me - Hood River, Oregon

I've eaten here five times now. I think I'm officially addicted. On two occasions, I've ordered the Big Kahuna. Currently listed at $15, it comes with double rice, double mac, a slice of pineapple, pulled pork, beef ribs, and barbecue chicken. The Big Kahuna is probably the best value on the menu. For me personally, it's big enough to split, or to feed me for a whole day. While I loved the Big Kahuna, I'm not really a big fan of pulled pork. The third time I came in, I ordered the Ginger Beef. I liked it, but honestly not as much as any of the three meats that came with the Big Kahuna. The next two times, I ordered the large teriyaki chicken with extra sauce, to go. The flavor is basic in the best way possible. It's not necessarily interesting or innovative, but is exactly what I expect when I think of good teriyaki chicken. It's tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred. The pulled pork tastes like it was cooked in a slow cooker, or via some kind of process that took a very long time. It just falls apart in your mouth. The rice and mac are also plain in the best way possible. Traditional and plain, but still perfectly done. This has become my favorite lunch spot in Hood River. It's hard to not eat here every day. read more

Went around lunchtime--it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly and orders came out fast. The menu focuses on Hawaiian BBQ staples like teriyaki chicken, pulled pork, etc. Most plates are around $10, and the portions are hefty for the price. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate. The meat had a nice smoky char and a sweet-salty glaze (from the smoker outside). Not served piping hot, but still reason temperature, not super-tender either though. One piece had a slightly acrid taste, probably over smoked, but the rest was solid. The rice was standard. The mac salad was chilled, creamy, and well balanced--mayo-based with shreds of carrot, bits of green onion, and a light touch of pepper. Overall, a classic Hawaiian plate lunch. Fast, filling, and good value. read more

My friends and I stopped by Lilo's during our Oregon road trip and enjoyed the gigantic portions of food the restaurant had to offer. We arrived just before they were going to close, so we got the food as takeout and ate it outside on their picnic tables. I particularly liked the macaroni salad, but there was also plenty of meat and rice in the meal as well. I wish the sauce was a bit stronger, however, I know I tend to enjoy food with stronger sauces, so don't let my judgment prevent you from giving this place a try. read more

This was an excellent dinner that we enjoyed as take out on the polar express train ride. The rice was soft and fresh, the ginger beef was very good and the teriyaki chicken almost lived up to my bachan's but that is a high bar to reach. read more

A snowy winter day in da Hood had us craving a sunny lunch. Let's go to Lilo's. Universal expectations for any style BBQ joint is the meat needs to be moist & tender and memorable sauce. Kaumaha sad to say pulled pork was way dried out dude. 2oz of BBQ sauce is not going to soften it up. At least the employee was nice enough to give us an additional 2oz though he said he was supposed to charge for it. With dry bread to sandwich it made it to dry to eat and had to open it up and fork it. Rice was soggy :( Mac salad creamy but no flavor. Coleslaw had a crunchy snap but tasted just like the mac salad. Flank Steak was better but a bit dry also. Reggae music in the background might not be exactly a Hawaiian vibe. C'mon give me some Honolulu ukulele not Caribbean. Mahalo & hui hou. read more

Great fast casual food. I've been here multiple times over the years and it has always been consistent. Today I had the green curry special. It was so good with the chicken, definitely a steal of a deal! read more

Food was amazing, really recommend especially if you're passing through. I personally like the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a drink. The service here is also amazing! Every server there is kind & welcoming, the environment is calm, welcome, & very pretty!! My personal favorite of the decor is the skateboard filled with stickers. I love how they don't stand for ICE, love how they are bicultural & bilingual! An employee actually speaks & is learning other language from what I have asked! read more

If your going in warmer weather they have outdoor seating next to the smoker that they use to make this delicious food. Great portions for the price would recommend for anyone needing a pick me up. read more

Stopped here for dinner on a day trip to see Herman the Sturgeon at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. It was an extra 21 miles to get to Hood River from the hatchery and worth every mile. Each of the four of us had something different covering the meats from pork to chicken to beef and they were all excellent. The sides were great, the portions were large, the service was fast and friendly, the experience was ideal. Try the POG - pineapple, orange, guava - drink, too! read more

The small kahlua pig with rice and macaroni salad was good. We added additional broccoli to it made it healthier meal. The inside isn't really a sit down type of place it is more of a grab and go,but the workers are very friendly and nice,I definitely would recommend the pineapple soft serve, it tastes so close to the Disney Dole whip! read more

Food was great! Guy outside at the smoker then yummy food inside. Small or large option--large has twice as much as the small. We had the Kahlua pig and Ginger beef. Both were served with sticky rice, Mac salad, and a pineapple wedge. Quick service. Even avoided my tuna allergy! Price was right. We stayed and ate--very simple place. read more

I live in Hood River and have been to Lilo's a handful of times. I wish I could say I love it, but I don't because the place has been very hit or miss. The food is decent, although not an authentic Hawaiian plate lunch . On occasion the portions have been pathetic, and making matters worse; sometimes they run out of food and close early - so don't rely on the posted hours. read more

Having been to Hawaii several times, maybe I just have too high a standard. Food - well it was edible. The pork was dry and tasteless, how does one mess up rice? I also ordered extra pineapple, which they did NOT include in my order. Service - fair, basically indifferent. I don't think he wanted to be there, but he wasn't rude or anything. Prices - average, but not a good value based on the quality of food. Parking - plenty of parking. read more

As they say, "go big or go home!" Get the Big Kahuna! It's enough for two or leftovers the next day. We got the ginger flank steak - so tender and flavorful - and the huli huli chicken as our proteins and were very happy with the selection. Other times we swapped the chicken for the Kailua pork, which is cooked long and slow and not often found outside of Hawaii. The plate comes with one or to scoops of two sides. While I'm typically not a fan of mayonnaise Mac salad, at Lilo's, it's a must! Not sure what they do to this simple picnic side, but it has me craving it and coming back for more! For the other side, we go for the jasmine rice or the pan fried yakisoba noodles, which is always my choice since I can get rice anywhere. They have two huge smokers / grills out front and so you know everything is fresh. The aroma lures you in! Picnic tables outside so you can eat there or take with. Perfect for a day after hiking and adventures in Hood River area or to pick up food to bring along. Lots of options! Pulled pork sandwiches, teriyaki, bento boxes, coconut shrimp, burgers (why?), salads, poke, salmon - something for everyone. Large portions, friendly service, delicious food. Located off exit 62 on I-84, they are conveniently located in Hood River Square next to Pilenti's pizza and the Goodwill. For a common landmark, this square is the driveway before Walmart heading east. Enjoy! read more

Amazing food! Cute place! Service was good! The Ginger Beef was so good and so filling! Definitely recommend going!

Last time I was in Hood River I returned to Lilo's BBQ for the third time. It's that good! I always order the Kalua Pig with extra Mac because I love Hawaiian macaroni salad. The meat is tender, juicy, and nicely smoky. It can get noisy inside so I like to sit outside next to the smoke pit and watch the cooks work. Third time, as good as the first. read more

Found Lilo's while traveling down the gorge. Was driving down the street off the off-ramp and could smell the smoker from the road. I began salivating so had to check it out. Really lucked out on this meal stop. There's a large wood-fired smoker in front of the place. Obviously, smoked meat is the specialty with various sandwiches and meals offered. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was excellent! You have a choice of sides. I chose cole slaw, which was disappointing. Too dry for my taste. You order at a counter and they deliver your food to your table if you eat at one of the picnic-style tables, a few outside and a few inside. I will definitely return if I'm hungry driving past Hood River. read more

I was staying nearby and looking for something different than my normal fare. I like Hawaiian style so I decided to give this place a try. The place is in a little strip mall back. They have a sizable smoker outside where the meats are cooked. I went with the regular size teriyaki chicken and that was plenty for me. I definitely would not have been able to finish the large. Everything is exactly how you would get it in Hawaii, except for the smoky flavor to the meat. I'm not sure I'm a complete fan of that, but it was very tasty and didn't repeat on me later on. Mac salad was great, rice perfect and I wish I had gotten a second extra sauce. If I lived here, I'm sure this place would be part of the regular rotation of places to eat out. read more

Smoky meats meet Hawaiian style mac salad in a blissful array of succulent goodness. If in Hood River you should stop by just to smell the smoker outside of this small local Hawaiian barbecue restaurant. The meats have a nice woody and smoky flavor and were tender. Its not the typical Hawaiian style i am accustom to getting in the area but I think that is what made it such a surprise. If you find yourself in hood river Oregon I would recommend stopping by and give them a try. read more

Lilo's BBQ - Combo to go with double Mac no rice.... excellent fresh tasting smoky goodness - Barbeque Near Me - Hood River, Oregon

After a long morning of traveling to Portland and then driving to Hood River, we were in search for a place that would satisfy the hunger we worked up. We did a yelp search and found Lilo's, which was a 5 minute drive from the place were were staying. This place is tucked into the corner of a small mini plaza mall and it is easy to find. Indoor dining is still not allowed in this region, so we were lucky to get a table outside. The staff was friendly and the food was prepared in a short wait. We ended up ordering the following: - Auntie's Huli Chicken - Cooked well and full of flavor -Kalua Pig - Meat was tender and seasoned well Each of these plates came with mac salad and white rice which is standard for a hawaiian bbq place. Overall, we found the meals to be good. The portions were a good value for the price per plate and the complimentary sauces were a nice touch to add a kick to the meats. Now, we have visited Hawaii and live in the bay area where there are plenty of top notch Hawaiian bbq places. In comparison, this place is just ok. It will definitely be good meal with quality food, but don't expect the same level of authenticity that you would get from a restaurant on the Big Island. We would recommend giving this place a try, it's definitely something different to the rest of the cuisine in the area. read more

My order was very fresh! They use a big outdoor grill to prepare the meat and that gives it a great flavor. The portions are very large and enough for two meals or to share between two people. The value for money is high here. Aka, generous portions of fresh flavorful food. The macaroni salad was fun/a different side that you don't see often. The people who work there are friendly and professional. The plates and sides were visually pretty. They garnished them each with a slice of very fresh pineapple. 10/10, I will happily come back here. Thank you for the great meal and service! read more

This place was great got it togo and sat by the water. Mac salad was solid and the BBQ beef was wonderful!

I'm Samoan so I know what I'm talking about. I ordered Haupia and he brought me a vanilla pudding with bits of coconut in it. I told him it wasn't haupia and he said it's Hawaiian "style" and I told him it's not even Hawaiian style and it's false advertisement. I paid $3 for haupia and I should be asking for my money back. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the meats had a good smoke flavor. The chicken was dry. read more

I tried Lilo's when I saw it as I was driving by and saw them smoking the meat. I am so glad I stopped in. I had the ginger beef with macaroni salad and rice. The meat was so incredibly tender and moist, it oozed with smoked flavor and a nice flavor of deliciousness. It had a ginger glaze on it (I think that's what that was) but I also was given more sauce on the side. I sauced that baby up when I got to my hotel. I wanted more. The macaroni salad was fresh and good flavors as well. I don't eat rice much but I mixed some of the sauce into it as well as another sauce they had given me... I truly was craving for more. The service was friendly, professional and fast. I used to think Hawaiian Time where I used to live was the best, this topped that!!! I will be back...tonight probably :) KUDOS!!! read more
