We bought a ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate croissant, an almond chocolate croissant, and two cinnamon rolls (French style - not cinnabon). I was so hungry that we stayed in the shop to eat the ham and cheese croissant. It was delicious! I'm ashamed to say that I didn't savor it - I inhaled it. For me, a great coffee shop (I know, this is a "Café" and not a "Coffee Shop") needs to have more than muffins and cookies. Croissants and scones are a must (IMHO). The chai cinnamon bread was good (not great). They offer "Gluten-Friendly" items for people with that sensitivity. The cinnamon rolls were great. Gooey inside, like cinnamon rolls should be, and lots of cinnamon flavor. The frosting on top was very sweet (almost too much so) and there was a ton of it, so we had to scrape a little off. The donuts were also very good. I got two each of six different flavors (regular chocolate frosted long john, chocolate frosted long john with sprinkles, apple fritter, fruity pebbles topped, crushed Oreo topped with marshmallow cream inside, and peanut butter and jelly). My favorite was the peanut butter and jelly. My wife liked the fruity pebbles the most. The kids liked both kinds of chocolate long johns. The store looks like it was converted from house, so the layout is weird. The actual room with the donut case is small, so people have to wait in the hallway and kind of block the counter for checking out. I know they just moved to this location earlier this year, so they probably aren't looking to move again so soon, but it wouldn't be the worst thing. I thought the prices are super reasonable for a bakery. The dozen doughnuts was $14 and the cinnamon rolls were $4 each. When I picked up the boxes and felt how heavy they were, I assumed it would be much more than $30 for everything.

Like the cheesesteaks in Philly, there is no clear winner because everyone has their favorite. But in essence, we all win because they are all so great! West Side, Hi-Low, City or Johnston's, they all have great buns! Maybe I lean a little towards Hi-Low, but only by a crumb. I have to say West Side buns are very close! What West Side has going for it, is some of its other fresh bakery.... Peanuts Squares are to die for! I also love how quaint and old timey this cute little neighborhood bakery is. Nothing flashing, not even a ton of choices, but what they have is all good, and so fresh. The girl working was super friendly. When a "regular" came in, she knew him by name and what he was there for.... Almost like Norm on Cheers, only with danishes instead of beer! Love these neighborhood bakeries in Sheboygan. And you just HAVE to buy some buns (hard rolls), they compliment every sandwich...especially the local Johnsonville Brats!
