Pros- Lucky to have a great Thai restaurant in downtown Erie that is all-inclusive. Friendly server & chef. Loved the local art on display. Clean restrooms. Good portions & great flavors! Chicken Satay Skewers; very moist & succulent with 2 dipping sauces; sweet chili & traditional peanut sauce. Both were perfect. They were very accommodating on the few modifications we asked for. I ordered a noodle stir-fry with delicious marinated tofu. Watch the spice level, though. I got 4 out of 5, but I should have gotten the 3 or 2. I like heat, but it was a lot for me, but still, I ate it all. Not outrageous pricing. We were full too. . Cons- Back restaurant seating and open kitchen were dark. Heavy metal, long-hair rock music with wailing electric guitar music was not appropriate, but probably favored by the owner/chef. Something mellower, international, would've been better. I asked if the music could be changed and was told no. Lack of parking can be an issue, unfortunately. . Definitely would return, but for less spicy, and I'll bring some ear plugs. read more

Only ordered takeout and judging the food off the fact that there's not too many Thai places in Erie. Got a tofu drunken noodle and bok choy. I actually enjoyed the bok choy a lot it was flavorful, seasoned well, and lots of veggies for only $6 as a side so pretty decent. The drunken noodles were definitely not authentic though. The use of five spice marinated tofu instead of of regular tofu is an off putting texture to the dish. I could forgive that but the noodles were so hard and clumpy. You need to stir it a lot more, pan fry the noodles before tossing but seems like the chef just kind of tossed the noodles all in cooked too quickly and so they were still all a bit undercooked. Also seasoned a bit too sour with tamarind. So giving it a 2.5 but price was decent and bok choy I liked so 3. Chef should focus on making better Thai food before trying out all other Asian dishes. read more

Nice little place. Clean and welcoming. Service was thorough and very polite. The food however was unexpected. I had the Pad Thai and it did not taste like any Pad Thai I've ever had. That's not a bad thing as is was still tasty. The major put off for me was the level of salt. It was definitely way too much, borderline unpalatable. It's almost as if it was a mistake. I will be honest--I am shocked there is even a debate about the best thai food in Erie. This is hands down it. I was raised in Seattle and spent many evenings having dinners with my thai friends and their delicious cuisine. This is on par with those meals. We ordered the Indonesian curry and the pad thai. The pad thai was so flavorful and included a healthy array of bean sprouts, veggies, and crushed peanuts in a spicy blended sauce (she order 2 stars). I have eaten at other places and their pad thai is just like rice noodles in an overly sweet sauce. Bland and it lacks the flavors and textures provided by bean sprouts and chopped nuts. When I saw Thai eatery was more higher rated, I was absolutely floored. We also ordered the Indonesian yellow curry--3 star. It had a wonderful kick, creamy brother and hearty mix of veggies and chicken It was one of the best curries I have had in a very long time and I am a thai food snob (I had tried nearly every thai restaurant in Denver CO before we moved recently and this food was right up there with the VERY best) I would normally deduct a star as a result of what I deemed to be very "casual" service (long delays, empty water, late apps) but the food came out so fresh, so hot and so delicious--I looked past those quibbles. This place is one of our favs, period! Appetizer: You have to and I mean it should be law, get the tteokbokki! This stuff will legit change your life. We also love the bok choy. My hubby and I come here whenever we make a trip up to Erie. My only heads up would be to check their hours if you are traveling to come here. They do sometimes close unexpectedly. But, it's part of what I like about this place. This is hands down the best Thai food I've had. I had the Thai Basil and it was amazing. I even ordered a second order of it to take home. I'm trying to find a reason to go to Erie so I can justify the trip from Buffalo Cleanliness - for a little hole in the wall kind of place it is pretty clean. They've been doing some renovations and I can appreciate the effort. Friendliness - the owner and the server are always very friendly and inviting. Atmosphere - I do like the new updates. The live recorded music playing was a bit much. It was very loud and I didn't like the screaming in the recordings. Can't wait to come back! read more

When you go to Erie, PA, do yourself a favor and go to Mike's restaurant on State Street, Like My Thai. When I first approached the building the store front was covered in messages of inclusivity, a quote by Maya Angelou that spoke out against racism, and a few others, that I really should have taken more time to read, and a pride/trans flag. Now, I wasn't sure if this facade of inclusivity was just a good business gimick, or genuine. I go in. A busy place! Folks seated, lots of take out coming and going. I sat down at small table by myself, near the chef himself, and one young man clearly enjoying whatever he was having. Now, I did notice no one there seemed to be Thai, and perhaps I was being judgmental because I'm thinking, don't you need a Thai cook to make authentic Thai?! The waitress came up, very friendly, not stressed from working there, gives me a glass of water and a menu. The chef is running everything, singing songs to the ones playing. Himself and the waitress seem to be in a dance together to get orders out. I ordered some fresh spring rolls and decided to try the panang curry. At some point the chef talks to me, I say I'm up from Pittsburgh, to which he said, "Oh so you're here at the Pittsburgh French Riviera!" And he's correct, if you are from this dreaded southwestern confluence, Erie is a magical, and special place. I ordered my curry and when I did, Mike (asked him his name later) stated, "Perfect! I got one more wok open!" I get my spring rolls. First thing I notice is the freshness, and the sauces the one fresh ground peanuts (tasted like a tahini) and a brown dipping sauce. Man, I needed something quality and fresh. Pretty quick the curry comes out. OK. It looks different than the one from my local place down the street - it's a HUGE bowl, with a side of rice in a tin container. I taste it. Once again, you can taste all the flavors, lemongrass, and the quality of the produce. This produce was meticulously hand picked and this meal was clearly cooked with love. Damn it was good!!! Mike tells me, "We make all our own paste with the ingredients for that specific curry." First of all, EVERYONE there was chill as fuck! Happy employees, no shit-head bitchy customers...it was blissful. Finally, I had to ask the guy, "So this is your place? What inspired you to open it?" He tells me simply, how it's his passion he loves to cook Thai, and you can taste it! I told him the quality of the meal including the unmistakably fresh ingredients was amazing. He thanks me for noticing that! I ask his name finally, Mike, I introduce myself. I had: 2 large fresh spring rolls, panang curry and and iced coffee with sweet milk for the road. All for $26 bucks. I felt like I should have told Mike to please raise his prices just a bit, this was TOO good for so little! Sure as heck expect to pay more down south for less anywhere! Look, Erie folks, and anyone passing through, do yourself a favor, let Mike make you dinner that night. It's like going to a friend's house who REALLY knows how to cook and he is making you a special dinner because he is happy to see you, and cook for a friend. 10 out of 10. It turns out, EVERYTHING about the messages, Mike, and his food is 100% legit, genuine and served up with compassion and love, oh and I did I mention it's GOOD! read more

This is the first bad review I have ever had to leave, but i felt that I needed to warn people about this place. I am not a picky person and love Thai food, I have gone to so many Thai places and always get Pad Kee Maow. Of course the flavor tastes different at each place, but this was downright disgusting. It tasted like they had just thrown as many seasonings as they could into the food. EXTREMELY salty and it was burnt. I have never had burnt drunken noodles. It was so overly flavored and salty that I literally couldn't stomach to eat it. Both of my friends had the same experience as me and we could only eat a couple of bites before getting up to leave. We did not leave a tip because the waitress was also rude telling us if we wanted soda we could go buy it across the street and then come back. She also made a comment afterwards about us to her coworkers saying "aaand no tip" of course I'm not going to tip when the food tastes like dog food. Seriously the worst Thai food I have ever tasted. It's hard to give this place a 4 and not a 5,but there were a few things that led to the 4. First off the positives. The owner was extra friendly and very nice and accommodating! Second the food (which is why your going there) was phenomenal! We sat out often and Thai is often our go to, so I like to think I have A good sense of taste. The Red Curry was incredible and the Vietnamese Spring rolls were huge. The negatives that led to a 4. This was the only restaurant I have ever been to that does not offer anything other then water to drink. Second, the service wasn't the greatest, it could have just been a fluke. We had the Thai Red Curry and the Drunken Noodle. The Drunken noodle was really good- the sweet peppers and the spicy sauce really tied in well with each other and there was a fried egg on top- can't go wrong. The red curry was different than any red curry I've had before but not bad different, just didn't have the usual red curry flavor. I think next time I'd choose beef instead of chicken. The only think I didn't like was the Thai Tea. It wasn't sweet enough and it didn't have any tea flavor really. The day we went, me and my sister were literally the only 2 in the whole restaurant besides the staff. Looking for a nice place to eat while in downtown Erie, we happened upon "Like My Thai". Mainly because we liked the clever name and it look like the diners in the window seem happy with the place, (read, Social Proof) we decided to try it. And we have to say at "Like My Thai", we more than liked it, we LOVED IT! Service was A+ as was the food! The green Curry was simply delicious and because they make their own curry paste, I could have it mild which I have found is pretty rare as Thai restaurants go because most just buy their curry paste already spiced. Friends of ours who lived in Thailand and have just returned from a months long vacation there have spoiled us when it comes to curry recipes. My Green Curry and my husband's Red Curry were perfection, just like our friends make them and they are great cooks who love nothing more than taking cooking classes from great Thai chefs while in Thailand. The spartan restaurant atmosphere is lively; staff seem happy, helpful and customer engaged, which is a nice change of pace these days, it seems. Colorful original artworks line the walls and imbue the space with some personality. We can't wait to return!! read more

It's a must go and repeat spot for anyone who has loved Thai food or wants to give it a go. First timers usually go for Pad Thai. I got Thai Basil, level 3 spice and Khao Soi Gai. Both were absolutely on point. The wait staff were amazing and helpful. I didn't know their soup options and the waitress described in detail each with eloquence. I'm not even joking... She's an absolute salesperson. She can sell ice to eskimos. Highly recommend, and I'm definitely coming back. This place was honestly a little strange. I walked in and it was filled with smoke? Somehow that didn't stop me, I thought it would lessen eventually (it didn't). You can see into the kitchen and there was one cook who did absolutely everything on a couple woks. Instead of cleaning them he would brush it off and set it on fire? Unfortunately, because of this, my food was burned. It had questionable charred pieces in it. The noodles were burned. I ordered the Pad See Yu. Despite it being burned and the black pieces drifting around, it wasn't actually bad. It reminded me of a scenario; if you had a good friend that loved to cook and they cooked for you at home. The food your friend makes is edible, even borderline delicious, but always just tastes like something cooked at home. You can taste the minor mistakes but you compliment it because they are your friend, it was pretty good, and you can see the passion! I will say this: if that cook can get a proper ventilation system and lessen the amount of charred bits from his woks, this restaurant would be one of the best in town. read more

Best Thai restaurant is Erie. If you like thai food, it's the best food in Erie. I live in Pittsburgh now, but Like My Thai can stand with even the best Thai restaurants in Pittsburgh.
