The worst customer service imaginable. First, the 30 day return policy is useless. They are quick to tell you that you can return the product within 30 days, but the purple devil is in the details. Once you buy it, you can only exchange it for something else in the store. Don't open the box up or they will find some way to make it your problem. The policy sucks. These people don't want to build relationships nor work with customers like other reputable stores. They are here to sell product and run. Secondly, their price matching policy. Lol. We bought a new light after deciding the first purchase was wrong for our home we're unable to get a refund. Shame on us for not walking after our first bad experience. We found it advertised for $150 less online, not from a competitor, nope, through their website. Conventional wisdom says, no problem, they'll match their own price right! We just bought it. Guess again. Another form letter from their legendary CS team says no go. This company sucks. There are outstanding companies out there who care for their clients and their reputation has value. I drove an hour each way to buy a fanimation ceiling fan, so far so good. They order it.Two weeks later wife picks it up, they give her the wrong finish. I drive back get the right finish or so I thought. One part still wrong finish. They charge me again for the correct finish part and tell me when I receive the correct piece from factory then send back the wrong piece to the store. I receive correct part and call store for return label. They tell me not their policy to pay return shipping. IT WAS THEIR TO MISTAKE BEGIN WITH, yet they want me to pay for their mistake. Now that is what you call customer service. I want to support the local economy, but next time shop the store for make & model number, and then buy online. fool me once. You can tell the type of person the store owner is. ALL about the money. read more

Stay away from this store! My wife was told by a salesperson that she could purchase a light fixture and return it if she didn't like it. When she returned it she was told that she could only get a store credit. She was given an online coupon for a 40% discount. However the discount couldn't be used because the product was on sale (5% off online). Furthermore the store credit, she received, could not be used for internet sales. The light fixture was purchased with a telephone order to the store and the store did not grant the sale price. When the light was picked up the light was on sale. The store would not give her the sale price. I asked if we could return the item (new in the box) and repurchase at the sale price - the answer was no. Their customer service department a couple of days later said that this exchange was permissible. I called the store to make the exchange. The woman I talked to got very nasty and hung up on me during the conversation. Very poor customer service at the store level. Good product prices but terrible all around customer service. read more

Called to get pricing for a replacement sconce and they couldn't be bothered. Had to pay 10.00 for them to even research the pricing. Tried rushing me off the phone. Called Granite City Electric who researched the price for me and did not charge me to do so. Granite City called me 10 min later and I purchased the glass piece we needed for our client. Much like the previous review, lots to look at but not the best selection. They had pretty good prices and I would have considered returning here but not after making our first purchase. We did purchase a pendant light, which we liked a lot but it was not in stock. We ordered the light, it missed their delivery truck and arrived later than promised. When asked if they'd be willing to give us a break on the price for the frustration the manager was unwilling to work with us. When I picked up the light I had to ask again about reducing the price and she begrudgingly knocked off $10. The problem continued at home when the box had the wrong installation instructions for our light and a singed/spliced wire that I was able to work around. We finally got the light up, after a call to our electrician, but overall we were not impressed with our local "Purple Building." read more

Ordered about $1,800 for my new home build. I was told everything was in stock. This was 6 weeks ago. They assured me they would hold the fixtures until the builder needed them. Well once the builder picked up the order, one of the ceiling fans was missing. No one at Light'n Leisure notified him and when we checked back with them LnL could not tell us why it was missing or where it was. Took 1 day for them to notified me the item is now on back order and will be several weeks before I will receive this item. No explanation or apology. Will cost me an extra $200 to get the electrician back to install. Stay away from these people as there is no customer service at all here! read more

Overall, I had a good experience at Light n Leisure in Kingston. The sales person, Richard, was very helpful and really nice. He listened to what I was looking for (flush mount ceiling lights for bedrooms, vanity lights for 2 bathrooms, and outdoor lights) and pointed me in the right direction. When I found a style I liked, he even showed me something similar but a little more affordable (and more within my budget). Although some of their styles are not my taste, they have a lot of choices for a relatively small store! It's crazy how much they can squeeze into their space!! Overall, I thought they had a lot more options than your typical home improvement store, their prices were cheaper than some options I saw at Lowes, and in my experience the staff were really nice. I didn't know what to expect before I walked in. Once inside, I couldn't believe how many different styles and variety of light fixtures they carry. Every other piece was as nice as the last and it was difficult for me to make my choices. It is hard to be restricted by a budget when you have so many choices. The team of staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and customer oriented. Thank's to Richard and Kurt's assistance I was able to walk away satisfied with my order. I selected one star for my rating - it should have been minus zero, but.... My neighbor and I both went to LightNLeisure in July 2018 to purchase new lights for our kitchen islands. We both purchased the lights we liked - they were more money than we each wanted to spend, but we loved them. We had our electrician install them; however, after one month, one of my lights went out completely (I won't go into what my neighbor went thru - that's her story). We notified LnL who had some difficulty understanding "the light doesn't work anymore". They ordered new lights and when they called to tell me they arrived (3 months later)(, they said they needed the defective (not their word) light in the original packaging. What??!! That ship sailed when we had them installed four months ago! I told them that since they sold me defective lights, they needed to reimburse me for my electrician costs to come back out to install the new ones. Nope, nada, uh uh! They don't do that! Picked up the light, asked the woman "manager" who the owner was, she refused to answer any questions. I left with my purchase, and did my own investigating on ownership and wrote a letter. The response was "I was never to set foot in their store, on their sidewalk, or parking lot again. If so, I would be arrested and fined". Hey, how's that for great Customer Service! I cannot recommend this company to anyone. read more

The customer service in this store leaves much to be desired. Watch their return policy as you cannot return an item even one day after purchase....you can only get store credit. Also, I discovered after the fact that prices are very high....they charged 89.99 for a Casablanca ceiling fan switch that our electrician said he can get for $30 max. read more

I was looking to purchase pendants lights but was turned off by the woman assisting me...she couldn't keep her story straight as to the inventory they had and was deceptive when I asked her of the return policy...she even went so far as to tell me that their website prices are different from store prices for the same item...really??? As I was about to purchase the light that I was originally told wasn't in stock but magically appeared, I see the policies behind the counter. I ask again about the return policy again since she had already said 30 days for returns...now I can see its EXCHANGE ONLY...I ask her again and she retorts "I told you it was no cash back". Never did she say that, in fact she couldn't keep anything straight. I was willing to pay twice the amount for lights from them compared to similar lights I had been looking at from a high end catalog...Instead I walked out empty handed and flustered..I'm all set with doing business here. read more

This store gave us really good service. we ordered our pendant lights through them, but the lights had a problem when we tried to install. they first spent a lot of time working with the manufacturer on a solution and ordered us replacement parts. when we still had issues, they had no objections to crediting us and having new lights we picked shipped to us. read more

I spent numerous hours walking their showroom floor, searching the internet and scouring their catalogs. They were right with me trying to find the pieces I wanted and getting me the best prices. I bought 4 outdoor lanterns on a Friday. I paid in full and they said 4 would be shipped to me by Tuesday. His words were-they will be to you by Tues. By Wed afternoon I hadnt received them so I called. I gave my order # they identified me and said-"Oh-those will take 7-10 days". And then he said "Oh those are backorderd" I asked why I wasnt informed nad said that it was upsetting and his response in a sarcastic tone was, "thanks for sharing" then he said you need customer service. He did that one 2 different occasions because I had to call back twice. As he was hanging up on me I said I wanted to cancel my order. He put me through to Corky their cheif customer service rep. I told Corky I was upset and confused an really wanted to talk to him about my lights and my poor customer service experience. AND 3 DAYS LATER I HAVE STILL NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE. I was recommended to this store by a friend and I'm happy to say he is still a friend. The store has a great selection of all types of lighting for all rooms inside your home and also a great selection of exterior lights. Kurt was a great help as my wife and I had a good idea of the style and size of the light we wanted and he was able to help us par down the options as you are a bit overwhelmed with the amount of selections when you first walk into the store. Bottom line we were sucessful in 1. finding the light we wanted and 2. at a price were were very happy with and 3. very satisfied with the service we received from Kurt in helping us make the selection. read more

I have had an unsatisfactory dealing with the staff at the Kingston store . The fixture I purchased for over my kitchen table was too small. I did not open the package returned it in four days was told originally it would not be a problem if the fixture was in the original package .When I tried to return it they refused to charge back my credit card said it was posted store merchandise only. I saw a posting on line that is not the policy.Since the store is closing I felt they were very deceptive..I question false advertising on their pricing too. read more
