Terrible Customer Service! Being in the Design Industry, I travel and frequent many stores, trade shows and conferences domestically as well as internationally. I've purchased from this store a couple of times only by default. Both times I've literally had to run down a sales associate because they will absolutely ignore you and not even acknowledge your presence. I felt very foolish even spending money with them after "All Associates " totally treated me as if I was a ghost! I recently decided to stop by again in hopes that maybe all the rich associates that don't care about making sales had retired but I was certainly wrong. The exact same treatment. They literally look you directly in your eyes and don't say a word! I highly wouldn't recommend this business to my clients or anyone else...mainly because of the lack of customer service skills. Okay, in the world of enormous lighting fixtures (seriously, think of chandeliers as large as swimming pools), Lighting Inc is heaven. If you're one of those people with an enormous entryway (especially outdoors) and you need something large and grandiose, this is definitely the spot for you. I've never seen chandeliers of this size before (hell, I didn't know they made anything that large any longer!) and it just makes you wonder how heavy they are. The rest of the store has other fixtures, but mostly focused on ceiling components as opposed to lamps (floor or table). Almost everything in the store is traditional, so if you're looking for something modern, just go across the street to Lighting Unlimited. If you're looking for something standard, the prices seemed a bit friendlier here. The service was a bit lacking. While we were in there, no on approached us and we were completely ignored until I went to the front desk to grab a card to write down a lamp's information that we were considering. Still, not a bad visit at all and I'd recommend them for any type of fixture replacement that you're considering, as long as it isn't too contemporary. read more

I had the opportunity to replace a number of fixtures in my both my upstairs bathrooms. From the lighting to the door handles to the bath and toilet. I asked around about where the best small businesses in Houston were to look at and purchase new fixtures was and Lighting Inc. came up. Now, I didn't get all my stuff from there because I didn't know this place existed until the middle of the project but I did get a chance to finish the project here. Jessica, the sales rep for Lighting Inc. was great help in figuring out what we wanted. I just told her that some of the other fixtures in the room were going to be a brushed nickel and she showed us several options based on the height of the ceiling. She knew the wattage limits which is both strange to me and very helpful because I didn't know what kind of bulbs I wanted. What was more awesome was she showed us similarly designed options with noticeably different prices. We ended up picking two sets of lighting fixtures for the ceiling and walls. Bedroom fans are next. I plan on picking up a couple here as we finish the project. Until then...I would rate this five stars but I love the pun about fans in the rating. read more

This place has just about everything! I was very impressed by the selection. The store was fairly busy (Saturday afternoon) so I didn't interact with anyone, but I prefer to browse without a salesperson following me around anyway. It was fun to walk around but ultimately they didn't have the particular lamp style I wanted. One note: if in doubt, call ahead to make sure they are open. We tried to visit on July 3rd and they were closed for the 4th of July holiday. read more

Service, poor service. Not my first purchase from these folks. When updating a powder room with the current "oil rubbed bronze" I went here. Did not need a fixture to fit within castle walls and did not want to tear out the entire wall to update a fixture. My spouse put in the order of what was needed in person, and was told to pick up said fixture the following day. Discovered when I arrived home the following day that the fixture I was given was not correct. Returned to the store the following day with the wrong fixture, was told Lori, the sales person had the day off. The old "wrong invoice #", "mixed up box", "not in stock" (excuses to me are merely dressed up lies) were all utilized, this is not brain surgery, just mere little light fixture. Was promised that the correct fixture would be brought over the following day and someone would call me to verify same so as not to incur more downtime, lost energy/gas, etc. Three separate phone calls were made by me, each time I spoke with someone different that did not know how to assist, hopefully it was just a lousy week for everyone. Spoke with Jose who stated to me it was not his job to assist with this matter but he promised he would call me back. He did return my phone call and the following day I picked up the correct fixture. Doubt that I recommend friends or businesses to utilize their services in the future. Parking ghastly, the place has more business than they know what to do with, difficult to get into park or to leave out of the parking lot and I don't drive a Texas tank. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE THAT JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE I am a huge supporter of keeping business local so after I did my own research. I put all the information together including manufacturer info, specific item numbers and quantities down, emailed the info and called to follow up with a sales rep to reply to my email with a price quote. It took two additional calls to get the prices but I finally got them. I then called back with my credit card information to place the order. It took 3 weeks to receive the first part of my order, even after being told it would only take 3 days to receive because all merchandise is in stock. Not only did I not get what was ordered. I kept receiving product that was not related to my needs AT ALL. Yet Lighting Inc felt free to keep adding these items onto my credit card number. I think that maybe is against the law??? My original quote was $326.42, my credit card charges finally stopped at $561.22. I had to make almost 7 calls and it took 4 shipments and almost 2 weeks of wrong shipments to finally get ALL the items I needed. I even spoke to the "Manager" several times and each time it was like he didn't know which way was up or which way was down and totally lost and oblivious to the continuous issues. Numerous emails have not been answered, phone calls and voice messages are being ignored and so now we are in dispute with the credit card company. Thankfully I have documents of original quote and emails involved with the issues and I am to get my credit applied later this week but I will never buy even a light bulb from this place again. It has been a real "pain in the tail". I am not much of a complainer but this one just couldn't go unmentioned in my opinion. I have probably spent close to 7 hours of time tracking this down and out the money for overcharges for almost 2 months. My advise: If you need something and they have it in stock and you can pay and carry it out with you, go for it, local businesses need our support. But if you have to special order anything,,,,BUYER BEWARE! read more

I purchased a bathroom light fixture that was defective and looked crooked on the wall. I live approximately 90 miles out of town and had to drive back to address the problem and order another fixture. When the new fixture arrived I drove back to the store in Houston to pick it up and had to pay an electrician for the second time to remove the defective fixture and install the new fixture. The store manager had told me they would pay for the installation. I had to drive back to Houston to return the defective fixture and presented my bill from the electrician ($125) and was told I would have my check in about 3 weeks. When almost two months had passed I contacted the store manager and was told that because I had only spent over $200 that they were not going to reimburse me. In addition, all of those trips to Houston was when the price of gas was almost $4.00 a gallon. Lighting Inc. obviously has no concern as far as customer service and it will certainly be my last purchase and just getting ready to re-do all of the lighting in my kitchen. Do believe the $125 they were not willing to pay is small in comparison to what some lighting company is going to make on this project. Actually to give them a one star rating is too high! read more
