I was unfortunately running late after getting lost that morning, but the front desk staff were incredibly kind, patient, and accommodating. They made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. Dr. Umeda was thorough, attentive, and genuinely caring. Unlike past eye exams where I felt rushed into a general prescription, he took the time to understand my daily needs and occupation. Since I spend long hours drafting in AutoCAD, working at a computer, and reading, he carefully tailored my prescription to support screen time and reading rather than overprescribing for distance vision that I didn't truly need. I appreciated how detailed and observant he was throughout the exam, which gave me peace of mind. Afterward, the staff also helped me choose frames that suited my face shape and style, and recommended lenses to reduce glare and blue light from computer screens. Overall, the appointment was efficient, thorough, and never felt rushed. Everyone was friendly, patient, and took the time to answer my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Umeda if you're looking for thoughtful, personalized eye care.

The whole experience was very pleasant - it was very easy to book, the front desk was extremely friendly, and Dr Kageyama was very thorough in his explanations. Having had an astigmatism most of my life, this was also the first time a doctor was actually able to explain and demonstrate this in a way that I could understand. On top of that, I found there were very few optometrists offering this service in the South Bay. It takes skill considering infants aren't able to verbally communicate yet, and yet still gets a decent eye exam. Dr Kageyama was very patient with our kiddo, who was wondering what was going on, but luckily also wasn't too fussy after a nice nap. The doctor was also very patient with all our questions. Even though it may be a few years from now, Dr Kageyama will be on the top of my list for my kiddo's future eye appointments. One note - I didn't see an elevator, so we luckily didn't bring our stroller anyway, but in case if any ADA concerns for this Campbell location.

Would not recommend…read more We came in because Dr. Kageyama told us vision therapy would help with our son's ADHD, and he sold us on a 60-session package that cost roughly what you'd pay for a car. We committed the time and the money, and saw no visible results. On top of that, Dr. Kageyama himself doesn't do some of the actual sessions -- a lot of the work is farmed out to staff he's trained to run the exercises, so you're not really getting his direct attention for what you're paying for. When we raised concerns about progress, we'd get two-minute responses that didn't really address the question. We asked for sit-down meetings specifically to get some kind of measurement of whether the therapy was working, and there wasn't any clear answer even then. Everything is "in the back room" as well and parents are not allowed to go in there so you have no visibility as to what is going on. For the amount of money involved, I think there should be far more structured assessment and feedback built into the program. Friends of ours have done other vision therapy programs with much more parent involvement and at-home practice built in -- this felt like the opposite. Overall, it felt like money down the drain with nothing to show for it.

I received punctal plugs from her to help with dry eyes. The whole process was faster, cheaper and easier than I expected! She explained the procedure to me and within an hour, I had less dry eyes for the next 6 months. This was awesome because moving from a humid climate like NYC to the Bay Area, dryness was a common issue for me. She's got the steadiest hands too so I felt confident in her knowledge and skills. Because of her, by God's Grace, I now want to pursue optometry as a career. I can't recommend her enough! Her schedule books up fast because she's so popular. Transparency-check your invoice and ask questions…read more I felt tricked. Lots of upselling without transparency in my last three visits. My last visit 6/26 had to ask optician to go over the list of charges when my bill was more than expected. Upgrades like anti-glare, anti-scratch, or extra thin material for my moderate prescription reading glasses were all on the bill without me being included in the choices. My prior visit, 7/25 was a similar situation. And the 7/24 visit left me with a pair of off the shelf Maui Jim's w/warped lenses. In this case, the optician (Bob) should have noticed that the lenses were damaged (probably due to being directly underneath the display light). Dr. Dally made it right on the 6/25 visit because the issue was within 1 year warranty, but I had to pay processing fees. The doctor here is good. It's the lack of transparency and inclusion from the front of the house that is something of which to be aware.

Jen was extremely rude and acted as though the clinic's main phone number was her personal number and she could simply decide whether or not a patient was allowed to escalate a concern. I repeatedly requested the manager's email address or another way to contact management, and she refused to provide either and continued hanging up on me. A receptionist's job is to assist patients and facilitate communication with the appropriate staff--not prevent patients from reaching management when they have a legitimate concern. Repeatedly disconnecting calls because a patient is asking to escalate an issue is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. A couple of days after the surgery, I woke up around 1:30 AM and noticed that I could not really see anything out of my left eye - everything looked 'very cloudy'. I called his emergency number and explained what was going on. The lady I talked to put me on hold. About 2 minutes later, Dr Engelman was on the phone. He asked me what I was experiencing. I described my symptoms and he said "Meet me in my office as soon as you can get there." We got there around 2:30 AM. Dr Engelman was there waiting for us. He measured the pressure in my left eye. It was down to 2. I had good reason to be scared. He told me that everything looked OK and that the pressure would come back up. I went home and by midday everything was OK.
