Our service was exceptional, our server made a few switches to my omelet, without the "up charges" and it was delicious. The coffee was not drinkable, I asked what brand it was, and our server told us they had just changed the coffee companies and had other complaints about it. Hope they change it back or try Lavazza? We ordered 3 dishes because we had a cute little dog with us who eats people food, and he gobbled up whatever we fed him. I was very disappointed with my experience at Lighthouse Restaurant in Newport. My grandson ordered chicken strips and had already eaten about half of one before we realized the chicken was undercooked. This is a serious food safety concern, especially when it involves a child. I called over the manager, Greg, and showed him the issue. He apologized, but then simply walked away without offering any meaningful solution or showing much concern for the situation. Undercooked chicken can make people very sick, and I expected the restaurant to take the matter much more seriously. Unfortunately, the response from management left me feeling that customer safety was not a priority. I hope the restaurant improves its food preparation and customer service practices. read more

My husband and I happened to drive by and I told him that we should stop by cause they have the best lavender lemon drop martinis and it was my birthday. So we go in and find out they don't have a bar area. They sat us at the same table I ate there with a friend before. Marco was our waiter and he was beyond AMAZING. Excellent customer service, the best lemon drop martini, so good I had a second. My husband had a strawberry mojito and due to Marco suggestion, we got the taquitos and then the shrimp cocktail. Marco was very attentive, he observed when we needed something, had a charming conversation with us. Made reservations to celebrate my daughter's birthday. And let me tell you everyone from the hostesses to our server Carlos were exceptional! I wish I could give them 10 stars! It was an early brunch, and they were very busy, but gave us a great table on the patio overlooking the water. My daughters and I had the bottomless mimosas which were also very refreshing and perfect. The food! Of course, I had to taste my kids plates and nothing on that table was less than a 10/10. My lobster roll delicious, my daughter's steak Chilaquiles, outstanding and such a great Smokey flavor! My son got the breakfast burrito cheesy and so flavorful. My other son and his girlfriend had a hamburger and the turkey pesto sandwich which was out of this world! Next time I come, I will get that one for sure. We had 2 other places booked for our rehearsal dinner in Newport Beach and both went out of business. The Clam chowder was amazing, I highly recommend it. It is thick and creamy only complaint I wish mine came out a bit hotter. Calamari was nice and crunchy, I would recommend. Lighthouse is hands down one of my favorite spots. The food is absolutely amazing every single time, but the poke nachos are my personal favorite they are seriously the BEST I've ever had. So fresh, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor in every bite. Everything we ordered was delicious! What really makes this place extra special though is the service. Our server, Mary, is the sweetest. She even remembered my father from the last time we came, which meant so much to us. That kind of genuine care and attention is rare. FIRST OFF: I just wanna say this review does NOT reflect our server, he was fantastic and so attentive, shoutout carlos!! this review is for the manger and whoever answers the phones, i had come here for a birthday brunch for one of my close friend and first things first she said when she had called they were rude and short with her and said they cannot hold her birthday cake inside, fine, we get there and all of a sudden they can put the cake inside the fridge which was cool, food and service was great, thanks again carlos!!! we get the bill and there was a 25$ cake fee, they did not cut the cake or anything, just stored it in the fridge... i asked why this was there we had zero knowledge of this, manager told us to look on website and when we asked if he can show us where it was he said no handed us a menu in which it said $20 outside dessert fee in tiny fine print,... but yet we were still getting overcharged $5, then we got the new check, said $45 cake fee. so then had to get it fixed for the 3rd time, manager was rude and dismissive the whole time, it isn't about the money, it's about the lack of communication to us (the customer) and hey maybe let your employees know about this cake fee since they were all confused as well. long story short, Carlos was the best thing about this brunch, but because of management we will not be back. read more

Lighthouse Café in Newport Beach is located in a wonderful spot for families with young children. There is a small sandy beach right in front of the restaurant with shallow water where kids can safely play. Behind that, there is a large playground and a long row of picnic tables. It is a fantastic area to spend quality time with children. The only downside to the venue itself is the parking fee, which is quite pricey at $9 for 2 hours. Most customers seemed to prefer the outdoor patio over the indoor seating; while the inside had empty seats, the patio was completely packed. However, it feels like this place survives solely on its location and atmosphere because the food was absolutely terrible. My son ordered the Fish & Chips and rated it a 1 out of 10 because the fish was soggy instead of crispy. I ordered the Seafood Omelette, which contained shrimp and lobster but was completely tasteless. It had zero seasoning--just shrimp and lobster meat wrapped in eggs with no flavor at all. I had to heavily add salt, pepper, and hot sauce just to make it edible. The biggest issue came when we received the bill. The prices on the receipt did not match the menu. The Lobster Roll, listed as $37 on the menu, was charged as $39 on the bill. When I called the server over to point out the mistake, they kept apologizing and ended up giving me the difference back in cash. While they resolved the issue, it still left a bad taste in my mouth. This felt like a serious system error. I have seen this happen at supermarkets occasionally, but I never expected it at a restaurant. I might come back for the beach, the playground, or a picnic, but definitely not to eat here again. read more

The food is a bit pricy but was very good with decent portions. Lobster roll had a lot of lobster, in a fresh soft bread. The medium rare steak and eggs seem to need some sort of sauce. It was plain but was Ok. Potatoes were good and seasoned well. Parking was plentiful during a weekday. It has its own lot, with paid parking through the app or kiosk. Unfortunately, what kind of ruined our meal though was being seated an outdoor patio table right next to a gas fire pit.....smelling gas with our food just wasn't very pleasant at all....unfortunately, the place was pretty full so we couldn't change tables. Lighthouse is a restaurant located a block from the Newport sandy beach and is next to the dock/park. The restaurant itself seems to have a lighthouse itself, which makes this a very unique location. There's a parking lot and street parking available. However? Both require payment and there's no validation. This area seems to be frequently patrolled, so be sure to actually pay for parking to avoid fines. This seems to be a very popular brunch spot. I tried a few things. Firstly was the beignets, interpreted as a (I think) fried, flaky dough drizzled with a glaze and topped with a few raspberries. It was dry, not very sweet, and didn't feel like a true beignet. Secondly was the eggs Benedict - the egg was not runny, there wasn't a lot of hollandaise sauce, and the cured meat's saltiness overpowered the other ingredients flavors. Lastly, the Brazilian steak sandwich. I really wanted to like it, but the steak was burnt and bland. The steak wasn't seasoned with enough salt or flavors in general. One half of the sandwich completely tasted burnt, and there were some pieces that literally were burnt. Some folks may love charred flavors, but this time it felt like too much. Overall, Lighthouse is a prime location restaurant. I'd love to give their brunch another try in the future. read more

Served with housemade chips and melted butter on the side, though I wished they at least served something else too like a slaw. The lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were amazing, definitely made for a perfect sweet "dessert" at the end of our meal. Piping hot, fluffy pancakes completely topped with a marscapone cream sauce and blueberry coulis. Service was prompt and always had our empty dishes cleaned up and waters refilled. I grew up going here and their breakfast is very yummy! I went here for dinner for the first time and I got the Budi's butter fish and it was so sweet I couldn't eat it. It tasted like it was drenched in sugar. Not good at all! I usually like sweet things too but this was just overly sweet. I thought it was going to be a light cream sauce... I was wrong! Their clam chowder on the other hand was to die for! Very good! Their drinks here were very good too and my friend ordered the fettuccini and that was very tasty! This was the PERFECT cap to our beach day! My wife and I wanted a late snack but ended up going for two entrees! The lighthouse had a nice interior but the outside patio was wonderful on a beautiful summer day. We got the fish and chips and the lobster roll to share. The fish had a nice panko type crust that was very nice not thick typical batter but lighter which let the fish shine thru. The fries were great seasoned well with garlic. The lobster roll was perfect, it was not over stuffed but the lobster in it was so buttery and amazing. The chips were housemade daily and great.
