Little bakery tucked away behind the post office figured we would give it a chance since we stumbled across it. Not much of a section as we perused the cases. We opted for the macaroons and baklava. Macaroons were dry and tasteless. By the following morning the other half was as hard as a rock. The baklava was burned at the bottom and it tasted just that way. Very disappointing. read more

After enjoying a nice breakfast I decided to purchase 2 blueberry and 2 apple danishes to bring home for dessert. I was told they were filled with fruit. When I got home I cut them in half and they were hollow. Just a light coloring of blueberry and apple were present. I paid $10 for all four. This was our second summer stopping here, and I really love this place. Not only are the owners so welcoming they make you feel as though you are guests in their home, but they grow their own tomatoes just outside, and have amazing coffee. The lemon bars are AMAZINGLY!!! There is lime zest added to it and it sure is delicious. The crust is my favorite. Thick graham cracker crust makes my mouth happy. I am absolutely shocked about the negative review of the lighthouse bakery. They may not have the largest selection but all the food is cooked to order and the breads, pastries, etc. are made in house, fresh every day. The owners are a lovely husband and wife who are truly appreciative of their customers. I haven't had anything that isn't absolutely amazing. The veggie omelet served with a warm, buttered baguette is to die for. Their pastries, i.e. cinnamon buns, danishes, blueberry buckle are sinful. They're also dog friendly, always putting out fresh water for our dogs, which is so great. I love to support the local business with a fantastic product. read more

I purchased a cream puff (along with other things) and it was "stuffed" with wonderful cream. He called it a lemon bar but the filling is more like a fluffy cheesecake texture and has a great graham cracker crust. The owner was extremely pleasant. Ordered a 10 inch yellow cake with chocolate frosting for my mother's 80th birthday party that we were having in Mystic. It cost $42 which I thought was a little pricey, the writing on the cake looked as if it was done by a child. We debated asking for a refund while sitting in the car but decided that as long as the cake was good we would overlook this problem. During our party we had 10 people to share the cake with nobody took more than one bite it was terrible. Really bad after taste from the frosting. Stop back by the bakery to let them know about the problem and told them I did not want my money I just wanted them to listen to the problems with the cake. They were defensive irritated and disrespectful I then decided it was time to get a refund. They they gave me my refund but we're not nice about it at all. I wouldn't recommend this Bakery to my worst enemy. Very uncomfortable situation. read more

Coffee was watery- go to Green Leaf up the road; bakery items were sparse and often stale- Go to Sift down the road; sandwiches were nothing special-go across the street to Grass & Bone. wow, this tiny, hidden bakery/breakfast is fantastic!!! lemon bar was amazing. this caramel, sea salt, and chocolate ganache bar was soooo good! my wife and daughter got a simple eggs, sausage, and home fries with ciabatta. wonderful!! the potatoes in the home fries were slightly crispy and lightly salted that made them perfect. i got a simple egg and cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread. the ciabatta bread is wonderful! while the atmosphere felt kind of like a backyard feel, the food and the personable owners made me feel like i was at somebody's house eating their home cooked food! love it!! we're going here every morning that we're here visiting!!! read more

One of the best and for that matter reasonably priced places to get breakfast in downtown mystic. The owners are phenomenal and really care about their customers satisfaction. The coffee is always hot and their lunch is great as well. So if you find yourself waiting in the drive thru at the Mystic Dunkin by the YMCA or the Mystic McDonalds, do yourself a favor and drive 3-4 minutes for a similarly priced breakfast meal. And although it's near downtown, they have an adequate parking lot so it's a quick in and out and you get that fresh bakery feel with their giant dough mixer and open visibility kitchen. I currently live out of state but it was refreshing stopping back in today and look forward to frequenting this local gem while visiting my parents on Mason's Island during the summer months!!! read more

I took them to a friend's dinner party and was embarrassed to serve them. What was not tried (and left on the plate) was thrown in the garbage. I will never go back. read more

This is a hidden gem in downtown Mystic, tucked away in a courtyard off of Main Street. The couple who own it are so friendly and helpful. I tried a lemon square, and I'm a hard critic when it comes to this confection. The lemon was a perfect balance between sweet and tart. The base was not too thick or thin, and dissolves as it should. I got married in Mystic this past weekend and ordered a two layer undecorated cake from this bakery. It was supposed to be ready Friday morning and when my mother went to pick it up, it was not. He told us to come back at 4. We arrived at 5 o'clock and it was still not done. However, the most frustrating part was that the cake was HORRENDOUS. The icing was lumpy and falling off in clumps and you could see the yellow cake underneath in many spots. It was hideous. And lastly, but most importantly, when I told him I was unhappy with how the cake looked, he got mad and told us if we didn't like it, we could leave. He was impatient and rude. It was a huge disappointment and left us frantic at the last minute to find a cake. I strongly recommend you try somewhere else in Mystic!! read more

What a horrible experience! I stopped in, thinking this might be a "find" in Mystic. The owner was rude, and, to be kind, I think he was "altered." While we were eating, he appeared to be preparing a large order of bread. He dropped a loaf, pick it up, and put it back on the pile! I got a little nauseous and left 2/3 of my sandwich.
