I stopped by recently with my girlfriend to grab a drink and app before heading out to dinner somewhere else. I'll say that I've been to Stonewall resort a lot over the years but this was my first time having a drink and app here and I have no idea why tbh. It's much better in every way compared to the other two restaurants on premise. The views are great from the patio and the drinks and app we had were great as well. I'm excited to go back soon and try more of their food while on a weekend trip with my woman. I had a White Russian, my girlfriend had a glass of moscato for the first rime since she wanted something light and sweet(thanks Ashley for recommending it to her) and we shared the fried green tomato app. Our waitress Ashley was a wonderful in every sense and very complimentary towards my girlfriend in all ways. Thank you for being so sweet to us. You're the best employee I have encountered at the resort since the first time ever coming here. Much appreciated. We were not expecting much, just wanted a nice setting for lunch with the daughter. She thought we would enjoy the view at Lightburn in Stonewall Jackson state park. The views overlooking the lake and golf course were fantastic. Drew, our waiter was very friendly, and helpful. The lunch menu is small and simple, but everything we had was good. The daughter had and enjoyed Fried Green Tomatoes with bleu cheese crumble, candied bacon, secret sauce The wife and I started by splitting Signature Salad Smoked salmon, mixed field greens, candied black walnuts, dry cranberries, cherry tomatoes, topped with a very good blackberry vinaigrette We also both really liked the unique Slider Trio, consisting of a pulled pork with mustard jalapeno BBQ, brisket with a signature BBQ, and finally a fried green tomato, bacon, cotton onions. We had a truly great experience for lunch. I made reservations that morning even though they weren't really needed. We were welcomed warmly at the bar while we waited on the remaining members of our party. We elected to sit outside. The view is really beautiful. Being up so high, you can see the lake and mountains and then the golf course is right there. They were smoking salmon on the patio and it smelled fabulous. The chef also came out and picked herbs from his herb garden. You really can't beat fresh basil. We tried the trio sliders, the fried green tomato sandwich, the fried green tomato appetizer and a burger. Everything was delicious. The wine list is small, but we found a bottle of Chardonnay that was perfect. And, our server was very attentive. It was a perfect afternoon. We will definitely be back!! read more

Our steaks we're tough and overdone, similar to the quality of cheap chains. We had made reservations 4 weeks in advance, but were told we couldn't sit outside because those tables were reserved. 2 remained empty throughout the entirety of our meal. Definitely overpriced, but there aren't many optuons when you're staying at the resort. read more

Overall, I think they could be a good small plate/tapas restaurant. The rum drink I got, was great! We tried the pork belly, which was a bit pricy for the 5 small pieces you get, and deviled eggs appetizers. The deviled eggs were good and ended up being the highlight of our dinner. We ordered three different pasta entrees, which went from bad to worse. The chicken Alfredo was ok. The vodka cream smoked salmon was soupy and didn't look appetizing. And the jambalaya was over seasoned and inedible! The staff was friendly and the views were great. If I had to go back there to eat, I would stick with cocktails and appetizers. It was so poor that over half of our dinner conversation was spent speculating on what kind of shady WV dealings kept this place in business. Beforehand, I assumed that it would be at least as good as the other mediocre restaurants near the resort. But, sadly I was very, very wrong. It was like someone was secretly filming a parody of a bad restaurant. On the positive side, the view was nice, and the kids had fun putting at the practice course outside. read more

Made reservations here thinking we would avoid the crowds at Stillwaters. While we achieved our objective of avoiding a crowd, the 4 page menu listed online was not available. Instead there was a buffet. When we asked if the buffet was the only option, our server said they had a limited menu available which had to be brought to us. (Only the buffet menu was provided when we were seated). We made entree selections off of the limited menu. The food was prepared well and had good flavor. However no dinner rolls were provided, nor was an option of a salad to start. It was clear that they really wanted to push the buffet. Desert options were only items that were available on the buffet as well. We opted to go elsewhere for desert. Overall, it's not bad. The views sitting on either deck are amazing. The view here is beautiful, and the patio is a great place to grab a drink and relax. Sadly, I don't recommend anything to eat. The Boy had a burger that he described as slightly better than a drive through. I had chicken that was very dry despite the entire bottle of dressing they dumped on it and all the sides on the plate. For being the 'high end' food option at the resort, it was pretty lack luster. Not to discount the view but everything else was just okay. For appetizers, we had deviled eggs and the truffle fries. The deviled eggs were good. The truffle fries needed more truffle oil and less salt. For an entree, I ordered the burger with truffle fries. The burger came out medium... I ordered medium rare. And it was suffocating in a super sweet onion relish. I ended up just eating the patty. The sweet potato fries was served with a marshmallow sauce, it should be taken off the menu with alacrity. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye...it was served with an all too bitter balsimco sauce. The cheese risotto was good. Needless to say we skipped dessert and headed back down the hill. read more

On vacation at Stonewall Resort we were encouraged to eat at Lightburns, what a mistake. We were a party of 8 and this was the first time for our server. My husband ordered a fish sandwich with coleslaw emphasizing "no cheese", but guess what was on it. They took it back and when he got it back it was (I guess) re fried and hard as a rock. My order was supposed to have a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. What I got was a spring salad with dried out grilled chicken and no dressing!! I was going to let it go but my family told the waitress about the mixup and she resolved. We did tell the Mgr about the problem who took my husbands sandwich off the bill. I don't think we should have had to pay the customary 20% tip as we were not at all satisfied with the restaurant,just saying. I for one will never be back. read more

This place was mediocre. The fish was incredibly salty. The steak cut was fatty and overcooked. The tuna tacos were covered in mayo. People seemed to like their risotto, but the veggies weren't cooked very well. The deer also was good. Overall, it was a blah eating experience and it was overpriced for what we got. On a positive note, our waitress did a nice job, and the views were beautiful. We came in after being on the lake most of the day. We were promptly greeted and seated on the expansive deck. It was a beautiful day and we had a splendid view of the golf course, resort and Stonewall Jackson Lake. We ordered appetizers and drinks, all of which were served quickly and were very tasty. Caution to bourbon lovers: there isn't a very good selection, but between Knob Creek, Woodford and Jim Beam, most should be able to find something they like. Our server, Hannah, was helpful and provided very good service to our table of five. She is an asset to the restaurant and was a great server. We started with the grilled romaine, which was simply awesome. We ordered cheeseburgers, which were grilled to perfection. Overall, it was a great visit to a hidden gem in north central WV.
