Expensive. We hired a designer to help with a kitchen remodel who sourced a pendant for above our table from them. I went to pick it up and despite being charged the designer discount price, with shipping, tax, and an extra fee for being below their minimum order, the total was $186. As they were charging my card I looked at Amazon and the same fixture was $119 with free shipping. I understand they need to pay the rent, but I felt I must either be a sucker or just supporting the local economy. Nice light though. read more

Yes, I like them. They were helpful and attentive. My lighting designer specified some products they carry and all had to be ordered, taking just under a week for all pieces to come into stock. Not cheap, they do a good job of taking your catalog order request and converting that into something you can use. If you can't be happy finding a product at the retail level that is in stock and ready to go, these guys can be a useful place to stop in and place your specific lighting or fixture order for a more customized look and performance. read more

We received exceptional service at Light Express when doing a remodel at our house that required a very complicated order for pendants, sconces, track lights, tapelights and switches and outlets in multiple colors. Sharon was amazing--knowledgeable, patient, willing to go the extra distance to make sure we got want we wanted. She helped us select items, straightened out billing questions, and returned a couple items that were damaged at no cost to us. Perhaps some items might be cheaper elsewhere, but Sharon's help streamlined our whole process and saved us a lot of time and effort. The showroom is small but quite varied. My recent experience as a walk-in customer at Light Express was mediocre at very best. While in the store, I was offered minimal assistance, by an employee who appeared to be working with sales representatives. This was at the same time she was "assisting me." I was given lighting fixture catalogs to review, and told to place post-it notes on light fixtures that I liked. When I asked a specific question about room lighting, I was told that I should perhaps hire an interior designer (lol)! My purpose of my visit was to find a chandelier for my master bedroom. I was given photo copies of those pages, with the light fixtures that I liked. When I asked what my next step was, I was told to leave my name, phone number, and email address with Light Express. I did so, but here we are, over a week later, and I haven't heard a word from anyone from this business. As a result of this, I searched online and found a lovely fixture, and ordered it. I was hoping for a better experience, and I truly wanted to support a local business here in Marin. As a result of my own experience, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this business to other consumers. read more

I believe lighting and the fixtures can make or break any room. Light Express has the same philosophy and they have the knowledge and the passion to back it up. My most recent purchases were for a foyer chandelier and a replacement for a dining room table overhead light. In both cases, I paid a nominal house call fee and then Justyna presented me with several options based on her expertise and my tastes. All I can say - I couldn't be happier with the choices and best of all, it was easy, fast, and very reasonable prices. They will also do installs (or refer you) and I am currently planning to add track lighting - I would not go anywhere else! read more
