We like to give business to local merchants. We wanted to purchase a replacement faucet set for our bathroom. We found a set we liked and asked for help. We had 2 questions , how much was it and did it come in other finishes. The "faucet guy" brought us over to the customer service counter and stated to look up the item we were interested in buying. He had just started his query when another employee walked up and "faucet guy" stopped working on our question and got into a long discussion about what he wanted. The 2nd guy left and the "faucet guy went back to his computer to answer our question. Two minutes later another employee asked him for help on her computer. "Faucet guy" stopped helping us and went over to help his coworker. After several minutes he returned to us but was again interrupted by his coworker for hep with another customer. Once again he stopped helping us and went to her assistance. Now 15 minutes had passed and we still had no answer to our questions. We finally decided to heck with it and left. "Faucet guy" was still busy helping his associate with her customer. We went home found what we wanted on line at Amazon, got it cheaper and had it show up in 24 hours. If Jackson wants to keep in business they need to teach staff to handle one customer at a time. We will never go back. read more

I've been here several times for specific items for projects. They have an excellent knowledgeable staff ! Every size and type of screws. They had masonry screws, and bits to fit into our British made address plaque to replacement screws to secure a face plate to a Makita chain saw! And way more specialty tools, etc. the even rent out equipment. Don't waste your time and head right over to solve any project dilemmas. read more

I want to support Jackson Hardware instead of big companies like Home Depot. They have a wide selection of items that can be used throughout the home and work. I bought a kitchen faucet a couple years ago and was having it installed. It unfortunately was missing a part. We called Jackson and they told us it's a manufacturer issue, not their issue. We kept putting a stink and they finally gave us the show room one. Before that, we bought a toilet that did not fit. We had all of the parts, it was completely new, and put back into the same box. Again, they put up a stink but finally relented and gave us a different toilet. Just recently, we were in looking at toilets again and were being helped by someone. Mind you, this person is *helping* us. Another worker comes and begins to speak to her, making us wait 5-10 minutes. Complete and utter waste of time. Again, I truly want to support this store. But, I have been incredibly disappointed with the customer service on numerous accounts. read more

I was looking for new rubber gromets for a Pedal Steel volume pedal. I approached the desk & found Mike Rast working with another customer. Normally I'd go hunting myself but decided to wait. When he finished I showed him the volume pedal he immediately took interest & instead of directing to what looks like hundred of draws holding screws & gromets he took the pedal & I followed. He then fit the pedal with the right gromets within 5-10 mins which would have taken me a hour & I'd probably have wrong fit. Good service is hard to find these days but great service is rarely seen! Every time I shop at Jackson's I get excellent service. But Venus Savelli exceeded my expectations! She is totally knowledgeable as well as very helpful. When I went in to ask about ordering new parts for my Hans Grohe kitchen facet she called the company and placed the order. She even got the company to apply my warranty which I thought might have expired. When it didn't arrive in the time I expected she followed up and found that Hans Grohe had used the wrong address and got them to send it out promptly to my correct address. I love my local hardware store but i understand why everyone who works/has worked on my house over the last 2 decades loves this place. There are many stores like this but this place is not losing merch or staff- super stocked with anything and more and every brand~ ie Emtek, Ashley Norton door hardware and more, a full clothing and shoe area. BBQs and the Green Eggs section is huge, Didn't get to take in the out door patio stuff. The difference of big box chain store is this place has soul and the people are genuinely friendly & helpful. My unattended basket of over an hour (as i wandered and kept discovering more!) still intact and in it's location. They have that other stuff no one else has- and walk in and buy- in stock. I definitely waited too long to discover this store! I get it now! Definitely will return. I came to just get a Japanese tree branch saw. And picked up so much more! read more

I purchased a Larsen strap wrench 13-2603 at Jackson's Hardware store. It was defective; so I returned it, but was told no refund since I didn't have the original packaging. The reason I didn't was because the day before I returned it, before I could even use it, I had a serious heart problem occur, atrial fibrillation; which put me in intensive care for the night. I was released the next day shortly after 12 noon, but the trash truck had already come by between 8 and 9 AM. A store supervisor adamantly refused to issue a refund, while by the way, chewing food during our entire conversation. I won't be doing any more business with them. I seriously doubt if I will be buying any more Larsen brand products again, either. read more

This hardware store has almost everything you need without the hassle of waiting in lines and finding assistance like Home Depot. There's ample parking for the store. This place is huge once you walk inside. The rental department is convenient when renting equipment i.e., hedge trimmer, weed eater, lawn mower, etc. I recommend calling ahead in case they don't have what you need, especially on a weekend to do yard work. They take most credit cards, even AMEX now. I usually send my husband, but when he's out of town, I have to handle business. The staff are helpful, saving me time looking around getting lost. Jackson's Hardware allows dogs! That alone is worth a star or two--if you're running errands with your furry bestie and can't take him or her into a store--it can be a problem, especially on warm or hot days. Plus, customer service has gotten much friendlier. Employees have always been helpful, but now they go out of their way to show you where something is, rather than tell you where it ought to be. That's a huge improvement. Especially if you're uncertain whether you need one kind of fitting or another and there are at least 20 that look very similar. Great hardware store. I can't believe I have lived in Marin for years and never knew Jackson's existed! I found them because of a worker at HD of all people. Glad I did though. They also sell Carhart Work wear along with other brands of outdoor work clothes. Customer service is top notch! Mark went above and beyond the call of duty. I have a Hansgrohe kitchen faucet (bought at Costco) that needed a new cartridge. Mark tried to help me order the part but later told me that they couldn't get the part that was specifically made for Costco. He went and researched the part and printed the schematic of the kitchen faucet and recommended buying it online. I really wanted to buy it at Jackson Hardware but they don't cover Costco specific products. Thanks you Mark for the great customer service. The best decision and well worth it for the time they spent with us, paying extra attention and making sure we were making the right purchase. I hate to admit, but I have never stepped into Jackson's until earlier this month. How could this happen since I grew up in San Rafael and always drive by? Well those days are over. We looked through their inventory of pants and jackets and my boyfriend found a nice rain jacket from his favorite brand (Carhart). Friendly and helpful staff. It wasn't difficult at all to find an employee to unlock the dressing room. There were employees on the floor who were ready to help customers. A couple of them walked by and made sure we were taken care of. There wasn't a line when we checked out so it was a breeze. It's a nice change since you're usually in long and slow lines at other hardware stores. This hardware store is a complete 180 shopping experience from Home Depot where you either can't find anyone to help you or someone has no knowledge about the products they're selling. What I love is they're employee owned and I much rather support them than a big box corporation. read more
