Great little coffee shop. Heading to the Thomas Edison National Park. Great cappuccino!

I have passed this place a million times and finally had a chance to stop by. This place is so cute and I definitely want to come back with my laptop and work. There is a high top table with two chairs facing the street, a large table with a few seats and then a smaller table. They have a fully stocked bookcase as well. The person who took my order was very kind and the owner's sibling. The menu is cute and the prices are reasonable (much better than Starbucks). I got a large Chai Latte with Almond Milk to go and it was delicious. I wish their cups had some branding (maybe something that reflected the light bulb theme). They do give a bunch card and you get a free drink on your sixth drink which is so sweet and better than most places that use the same system. Anyway, this place is super adorable, but space is a little limited, but it wasn't too crowded on a Friday around lunch time. Parking in this area can be a little challenging, but you are usually able to find a metered spot. This place is unassuming, kind of feels like a hidden gem. Bathroom is gender-neutral. This is a great spot to get some work done, read a book, or catch up with a friend. I really only have nice things to say.

I've been here a few times and it always the same experience. Coffee is okay. I've always ordered a regular hazelnut with cream. Feel like the coffee could be stronger. This most recent time I included a toasted raisin bagel. Unfortunately when got home, I discovered the bagel was not toasted or sliced, it was warmed. Not the same. Customer service is always good and such a cute spot in West orange to get a coffee, sit and vibe for a few minutes. Plus they provide free wifi. There's some street parking and a lot down the street

We came here after visiting the Thomas Edison park. We are happy to find a unique and interesting cafe. The ambiance was relaxing. Staff was also friendly and accommodating! We had their ice caffe latte and apple pastry. They were excellent. A must stop when you are in the area!

This Coffee Shop just opened up on Monday! Cute establishment in West Orange. The interior is rustic with chill vibes. I ordered the Caramel Oat Milk Latte with a Ham & Cheese Croissant as well as a Spinach Danish. Unfortunately, our order took a half-hour to come out and both our danishes came out cold. I also wasn't pleased that a lady came in after us and received her drink before me. It just shouldn't happen. It seemed a little confusing. If the establishment wants to work quicker, I would suggest one person on the bar and the other handling the register and popping in the danishes to be warmed. Hopefully, things get better within a month!

Great hidden gem in west orange in the mist of Thomas Edison museum near by. This place has a unique ambiance and vibe. Love love love the decor. The empandas were really good, my friend and I had the chorizo empanda and sausage with eggs. Cafe on the side was hazelnut flavored infused with almond milk it was good. Only one star off because it was really humid in the store. Aside from everything great place to try!

    Best coffee shop !

Loved the staff, very friendly. The shop itself is adorable. I can't wait to go back when I have more time. Will definitely tell all of my friends to come check this this place place out. I only had a slice of the Tres Leches cake and a Caramel Latte. Can't wait to try something else. Sensai please let me know when you talk your mom into making it. Again, thanks for the great service.

There is almost always music playing and I really appreciate them taking orders over the phone and online. They also have this cool complimentary option of personalizing your cup with a black & white photo of you if you ask. I've also had the turmeric latte and the avocado toast which are worth getting again. The toast was fresh and flavorful. They have an enclosed booth that looks like it seats 4. Great for a little open privacy. The couches are quite comfortable as well. They have punch cards which is good, but I'm terrible with remembering so it would be great if they went digital with rewards. Maybe 1 point per visit or 1 point per $1 with tiered rewards. It's the only coffee shop I go to in the area that doesn't have digital rewards. Would love to see more vegan options on the menu, maybe a cinnamon roll lol. Con is they open late for a cafe. It's cozy, small, has warm décor, friendly staff, just enough seating, and the music overhead was chef's kiss. And bonus: it's a Black-owned business, which I will always support. We ordered a small iced coffee with oat milk and sugar, an iced chai latte, the grilled cheese with arugula, and the egg platter. Everything was pretty good -- I wasn't blown away, but it was solid and seasoned well. I really wanted to try the French toast because I've heard so many good things, but they told me it would be a 30-minute wait. Our food ended up taking about 20 minutes anyway, so honestly, I probably should've just held on and waited for it. Next time! Prices are what you'd expect for a coffee shop in the suburbs of West Orange. We lucked out with a parking spot right in front, but parking in that area can definitely be tricky. They also sell Harper's Café merch -- t-shirts, sweatshirts, and quarter zips. I'm definitely going back to try the French toast and the pancakes because I saw several people ordering them, so they must be worth it. This is a great place to hang out, read a book, get some work done, chat with a friend, or vibe solo. Harper's Café gives you all the good feels, and I'll absolutely be returning. One note: the menu is limited, and not everything you see online may be available that day -- just something to keep in mind.

Anyway, since then I've been back 3 more times; once for breakfast and twice for brunch. And while I'm confessing, the two times for lunch were on subsequent days. Yeah, they're that good. Actually, their chicken salad on a croissant is the best I've ever had and in my advanced years I've had a crapload of chicken salad. The have a nice sized coffee bar, decorated beautifully with some pretty delicious looking pastries. I'm on an anti-sweet phase so I'm basing my opinion on only on appearance. Then there's a seating area when you can eat, served by a friendly attentive staff and an adjacent boutique area where you can purchase housewares, clothing and other cool stuff. I'm not in Maplewood all that often, generally when I'm shopping at the equally awesome City Workshop but when I do, I always make sure to hit up Perch. You should too. 1/2 star deduction because they don't offer fake sugar, just that Stevia crap which is gross.

Nice black-owned spot with variety of vegan options and it is clean. There's space to dine-in and they are open on Sundays. The energy is also open enough where strangers will have a convo while waiting. Coming from Brooklyn, I'm happy to have this spot so close to where I am now. Savory: My go-to is the chickpea tuna sandwich. I've tried it on a roll, long sub, and gluten-free... highly recommend the long sub. It's way too messy on the roll for me. Typically get it with the works. The potato salad is also very good most of the time (sometimes the potatoes are a little undercooked). I've also had the macaroni salad and the fried mushroom sandwich which are also good. I definitely enjoyed the thanksgiving special with stuffing (highly recommend that if they bring it back this year). Tip: if ordering a hero and you don't see yourself eating the entire thing in one sitting, I recommend requesting for the sandwich to not be cut so you can cut it evenly on your own For baked goods: the peach cobbler is good and it comes in a cute cup with a little spoon. I've also had the lemon cake & rum cake. Would order all 3 again. Would love to see donuts or cinnamon rolls (hopefully without cashews or walnuts due to my allergy). DRINKS: I haven't had a drink there that I would get again. The teas are overwhelmingly sweet; hibiscus punch was a lot like kool-aid to me. I also don't recommend the matcha if you are a matcha snob. Harper's Cafe is a great black-owned spot for a consistently good latte and they use quality matcha if you want quality nearby. Great spot with lots of options, especially if you're looking for a black-owned spot to support.
