I looked into several companies for our garage floor coating, and after comparing bids, I found most offered similar pricing and followed the same general process: grind/sand the floor, patch any cracks, apply an epoxy base, broadcast flake, and finish with a polyaspartic top coat.
One thing I think the whole industry could improve is the quoting process. Nearly every company insisted on an in-person visit, which feels a bit outdated. If customers can provide accurate measurements and clear photos, the process could easily be streamlined. Thankfully, Lifetime Coatings worked with me on that. Since the house was vacant and we weren't moving in for a couple of months, scheduling was tricky--but they were flexible and got the job done without me needing to be on-site.
At the time of purchase, they were offering $200 toward Proslat cabinets, which I didn't need. But before the work started, I saw a newer ad promoting a $500 discount toward either Proslat or coatings. Not sure if I missed out on a better deal, but it definitely made me wonder if I could've negotiated a bit more.
So, why did I go with Lifetime Coatings? They started in Utah and have since expanded into the Dallas market, which gave me confidence in their staying power. But more importantly: their warranty, follow through on all my initial questions, quick scheduling, and the sense that they'll actually stand behind their product if something comes up.
The project took two days. Day one was all prep: sanding, minor crack filling (not much needed in my case), applying the epoxy base, and throwing down the flake. We went with the "White Water". They also coated the stem walls for a clean, finished look. Matt kept me updated throughout the day, which I appreciated.
Day two involved scraping the flake and applying the polyaspartic top coat. I was charged an extra $100 for a non-slip finish, which I was aware of, though it's still unclear whether that was an additive to the top coat or just more flake. I was notified when the crew arrived, but never heard when they wrapped up. It would've been nice to close the loop with a final update.
That said, the floor looks fantastic, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The quality and finish are a major upgrade from the old-school epoxy systems I've used in the past. I'd absolutely work with them again. read more
