I made Phillips know via email, over the phone, and in person that I wanted a good deal and also a company that doesn't promote illegal immigration. I'm a legal immigrant who was harmed and almost raped by an illegal who shouldn't have been in the US. To ensure protocols of safety and liability were met, I'd ask for workmen's comp and proof of legal liability. Fernanda, Ethan and another employee whose name I don't recall from Phillips assured me that all of the contractors that work for them are screened and are allowed to work here. One of the managers said that he doesn't have control over who the subcontractors hire, but that the way they do business is 100% legal. So, I went with Phillips, despite their much more expensive prices than other companies for my peace of mind. On Mon 11/17/25 at 7:45a, the Phillips subcontractor showed up with his crew. Upon me approaching one of the workers to say hello in his car, his eyes were droopy and smelled strongly of weed. I live two blocks from an elementary school and children were walking at that time. I gave him a handshake still, and asked him if he was rightfully allowed to work. He evaded me by responding "no ingles" while pointing at the Phillips subcontractor. So I asked him in Spanish then, and he said no. I also learned he had been threatened by the Latino drug cartels and that he is very aware of the ramifications of letting anyone and everyone in the US. I thanked him for his honesty and excused myself to talk to the subcontractor, who told me I was a racist. I replied "I am from Peru, and hispanic as well". The subcontractor called the Phillips manager Israel Pena, and I went inside my house to call the police because his subcontractor's illegal worker was driving impaired around kids and looking to climb on a steep roof 30 ft in the air! Just as I was on the phone with the police officer, the worker fled. The officer then said there was not much they could do at this point. The manager, Israel P. from Phillips finally showed up, he spoke with his subcontractor outside my house, the subcontractor also left and Israel knocked on my door. He confirmed with me that their subcontractor had hired illegals, and that after speaking with me, he had to let them all flee and told them not to stay. I told Israel why I called the police - one of his subcontractor's illegal worker was driving impaired around kids, and looking to climb my roof! Later that afternoon, Phillips supervisor George called me, after the fact, claiming that his company cannot control who their subcontractors hire, and so they can't be held responsible. I can't accept that explanation. I made it very clear to them the importance of having vetted workers on my property to increase safety, and that I chose the most expensive company (Phillips) for that specific peace of mind. Ultimately, this is Phillips' fault that I have unscreened criminal workers at my house, under the influence, near our kids, looking to do work on a steep roof 30 ft in the air. At the end of a lengthy conversation, Phillips decided they are not going to change their practices and maintained that the worker in question was "not their employee", even though he was on my house to do work on a contract I had with Phillips, so I hold them responsible. We agreed to cancel the contract and I was refunded. Philips took zero accountability and zero actions to prevent what could have killed a child. We have enough crime and don't need to import more. Phillips is the kind of company that turns a blind eye by indirectly enabling and promoting illegal labor through their subcontractors. read more

Youve got to be kidding me -- we spent four months trying to get someone from Phillip's to do right by us, all the way up to the moment we finalized our bill, and no one cared. This time it's my turn to say, sorry, sorry, sorry but it's too late. Send us a check for 10% off this last nightmare project, we would consider that the 'least' you could do, a peace offering or the right thing to do. Take your pick! ** ONE STAR REVIEW ** We found Phillips Home Improvements through a local "coupon" magazine. They were offering a $25. Amazon gift card with a free quote. So I called. Two Phillips guys showed up, in uniforms, very polite and professional. They contacted our insurance on our behalf and gave us a quote. We talked to a few other companies but decided to go with Phillips. (Note: I had to ask 3 times for that Amazon gift card but I did get it). Getting a quote and finalizing the details of the job turned out to be a thousand dollars more than we initially expected to pay. We felt like we were hiring a reliable and reputable company -- so that made it worth it. The project was scheduled for mid-April but we needed to delay the job until May because we were working from home plus we had 2 college students online because of COVID. We really had to be prepared, especially for the roof job!! Quickly they asked us to sign a contract and pay. We knew this was standard. There was no immediate follow-up, not even a thank you welcome aboard, much less a call regarding when we would be put on the schedule. We thank our lucky stars to this day -- that we insisted that the 'quoted work' be included in the contract we signed. In the end, so much happened over the course of four months that numbers were really messed up. We would have been held accountable for whatever money they thought we owed them. Our first impression of Phillips was an unexpected 7:00 am stampede. Our gates were slamming, tools were clanging and workers were talking. It scared us to death -- we had no idea they were coming! The project manager rushed over to talk to us. He says to us -- you were the ones who delayed the job until May. Our response was, yes, but we haven't heard from Phillips in over 2 weeks!?! No one called us to schedule this! We were not prepared but had no choice but to start that day. They promised it would be completed by the end of that day. But the shingles were late and we knew a storm was expected that afternoon. Needless to say, Phillips was not able to get the roof done, the storm did come through, we had a few issues (that were resolved) but the situation was extremely ***stressful*** This type of communication and scheduling became habitual and typical of Phillips. It was a four-month nightmare. We were very confused to see random people on our property at all hours of the day. We were under the impression that everyone involved would be from Phillips, scheduling appointments with us, arriving in those branded trucks, dressed in uniform, and professional, just like that initial meeting. No one said anything otherwise. All the people they sent were self-employed contractors. The worst one was the gutter guy. He brought his 4-year-old, who wander around, while he worked for a few hours. Problem? Yes, we have an ungated pool. I felt responsible to watch this child. What if we were not home? If you're wondering, yes I called Phillips and complained. I called Phillips numerous times, complained about a lot of issues, and the response was always the same: sorry, sorry, sorry and thank you for your patience. Looked at them for painting my house . They would have gotten the job but how they provide quotes is shady . They send you a web link not the actual document , they sent me prices lower than expected as they crossed out the original price and put in a lower prices across all the different paint options . Well great , told him to send me the contract . Well when I did that , the quote that was sent to me via the web link , as I mentioned. Well they changed it on the fly put in higher prices then it was 1 day earlier . This is shady as hell and stinks of bait and switch. They send you a link with one price, then they edit it at will a day later with a higher prices, so you have no trusted frame of reference of what you agreed on before you sign the contract or a static quote to compare to the contract. They can edit your quote at will and you would have no idea unless you take screenshots of every page , no one has time for that. No the way you should do business like that . Phillips- HELP! I am so frustrated at the quality of work, lack of follow up and overall communication. I had 4 gutters company come out so I could talk through my specific style of roof. I picked Phillips based on the reviews done in my next-door neighborhood app and the BBB ratings. Once I signed the contract and paid the deposit, I was quickly asked to review my rep. Why would I rate someone that has done zero work and only sold me on a promise? gutters installed July 1, 2024 while I was at work. I came home to gutters in the wrong place, dirty finger prints all over my newly painted house and screws all through my roof with some incredibly poor attempts to patch. I called emailed my rep and then text him the next morning on my concerns. PM was sent out that day(which I appreciated) and told me they would have their most experience installer come out to fix. I did not get a call until over a week later to get scheduled. New installer came out last Friday stating they gutters were not installed correctly and was surprised no one reached out to get he perspective on the correct way to install for my house. I was promised a call from the PM on next steps. Now I can't get him to call me back. Please have your owner call me so we can this resolved. I was very disappointed in the level of communication I received when trying to get a quote. After two short visits to my home, I was told I would have a quote that night, then a few days later, also that same night. Then, a few days later, also that same night. Eventually I had the quote 10 days after promised and having to ask for it multiple times. And, it came in at more than double what I expected. Also, during this process, I tried to contact the office several times to get information about the late quote, but it was just a phone tree that lead to a message service which promised to call me back and never did. I had Phillips paint the interior and exterior of my home, install / repair gutters, paint my fence, and stain a pergola and pool equipment fence. The subcontractors were responsive to feedback but were restricted by the scope of work. In other words, if what needed to be done was not in the scope of work, the subs could not address what I wanted done. Keep in mind, I was getting my house ready to sell and this was not what I expected given the conversations I had with their estimator. Ultimately, I ended up paying more than the contracted amount to get the work completed to my expectations. This was in stark contrast to the "turnkey pricing assurance unless something was discovered during the power washing of the exterior of the house" provided by the estimator. I found the project manager very defensive when I would bring up issues to be addressed. This type of interaction raised my frustration to a level that I request an onsite meeting with the estimator and the project manager. My whole focus during this meeting was on how to get them to complete the work in the shortest amount of time to get them off of my property. The final insult came when the project manager offered a discount on my total if I would provide a "totally satisfied" review. This bribe was offered so that the project manager would be eligible for a bonus. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this company, their estimator, their project manager, and their ownership since they do not manage their business well enough to know when they have an extremely dissatisfied customer. Do not under any circumstances contract with this company. There are better companies out their that will treat you like a valued customer and charge you a fair price. read more

A representative from this company stopped by to provide us quote for gutter fixes. I have been trying to sign my contract for 3 days now and have given them at least 10 calls to follow up. They sent over the contract 3 times and I could never sign them due to a glitch with their documentation system. I am trying to schedule the work and get it done paying for the quoted price but the customer support is completely absent. We needed to add rain gutters to our home, which was built 9 years ago. We were having problems with getting water to drain to the street instead of pooling along the back fence. Unfortunately, the builder did not grade the lot properly. We contacted several gutter companies, including one that installed gutters part-time, as his full-time job was being a firefighter. The firefighter and one other company that quoted the work didn't even knock on the door to ask me exactly what we needed. Once they quoted, it was virtually impossible to get either of them to answer questions or for us to explain exactly where we wanted the downspouts located. We ended up selecting Phillips Home Improvements, based on the recommendation of a friend who is just as picky about his home as I am about mine. Their salesperson was very professional and walked around the house with me to understand exactly what we needed. He drew up a plan (which the other vendors did NOT do) and explained it to me in great detail. In fact, our roof design has an area where the uninformed would assume a single, continuous gutter would not be a problem. The Phillips salesperson noticed this and pointed it out to me. He then laid out a couple options, explaining the pros and cons of each. None of the other vendors noticed this issue at all! Phillips Home Improvements provided the highest priced quote, but after some negotiating and fine tuning of our installation, we selected them, in spite of the still considerably higher price. As they approached completion of the installation, the crew lead told me they were a few feet short of aluminum in the color we were using. They did NOT leave a half-finished gutter, but capped the end so that it was fully functional. I was told that as soon as they had more aluminum, in our selected color, they'd schedule a day to complete the job. We paid the remaining balance, even though the job was incomplete and honestly, were a bit worried if they'd follow through. We were VERY pleased, when they reached out to us the following week to say they had the stock and were ready to finish the one last run of gutters! They showed up the next day and removed the brand new, short gutter, replacing it with the proper length. Pricing is the only reason we didn't give a 5 star review, as the work done was excellent and matched every detail of the plan we'd discussed. read more

Had Phillips Painting out to bid our house for exterior paint and some wood rot / carpentry repairs. The price (ask for discounts) was where I needed it to be. Once I chose them it was about 3 to 4 weeks till they did the work. They call you every week and let you know where you are scheduled. They stuck to their schedule and showed up on time they day they said they would. They were amazingly fast (repairs and paint) completing the job in 2 days with a couple hours for touch up. The house looks great, they cleaned up after themselves (did not leave a mess at all), had a great attitude even when we pointed out touch-up areas. Painting service were okay however everything else was a MAJOR headache-NOTE: ALL PICs ARE THE CONDITION THEY LEFT THE HOUSE AT THE COMPLETION OF THE JOB. They ran behind schedule, left our house in complete disrepair, and damaged our BRAND NEW floors "moving (aka dragging)" furniture. We repeatedly were assured that the project would be done on time (they quoted 4-5 days). As we have company coming this weekend. They sent one guy to paint the entire interior of our 2000+ sq ft; 4 story home. He worked really hard but 4-5 days for a single person job is insane. The third day, they sent two other people (one "supervisor" and one guy who's job appeared to be sweeping up). They left at like 7 pm at night and still had to spend the entire day Saturday in the house painting. The true disappointment was the condition in which they left our house. Despite their claim to "move furniture" ALL OF OUR STUFF WAS LEFT IN THE CENTER OF THE ROOMS AND/OR SHOVED IN WHATEVER CLOSET, CABINET, OR DRAWER WAS HANDY. When we came home on Saturday, I almost cried. It literally took all of Sunday to put everything in semi-back together but even a 5 days later, I'm still finding stuff in random drawers. Didn't start taking pics until we were halfway through cleaning up. The other issue which their claim to moving furniture is that obviously the one guy can't do it properly and did a lot of dragging of couches etc on our wood/stained concrete floors and left a couple pretty serious marks to prove it (brand new house so we don't really have to guess if gouges are new or not...we paid for professional movers and inspected after move in). On top of that, he left, paint residue in pretty much all of the sinks from washing out his brushes, the hose on in the back, took the house key. When we called to complain their solution was to offer $150 bucks (less than 2%) discount to "pay for a cleaner". My husband accepted and paid the bill so that we wouldn't have to deal with them anymore but that obviously doesn't compensate or cover the damage to the floors or the cost if we had someone come and move furniture back into place. I apologize for the length of this comment, but I'm describing (not in its entirety do to this being written communication) a job that should have taken four days, five at the most, yet I'm sitting here 12 days shy of four months!! Yes, months!! I am only giving Phillip's one star because I need to enter at least one to place a comment. Truthfully, I would prefer at least a negative five stars. Interior paint job of seven rooms, my entire home is 1,711 Sq ft. Job started on 11/14/16 and advised would be done by 11/18/16, at the worst 11/19/16. As of today, 3/2/17, yes 2017 (just shy of four months) it is completed. Which honestly i had to beg and plead to finish the job, which BTW was incredibly expensive. I wouldnt have minded the cost, but this horrific scenario occured abd now i KNOW its not worth the cost even slightly!! I can't count the number of times the painters had to return in spite of my feedback of what needed to be corrected. Just two, of MANY, examples of blatant painting not completed was near two light fixtures in my kichen/dining area, one of which the painters had to return as they left without my knowledge and the correction hadn't been completed. This was not the first time the painters left during one of the MANY times they we sent back out for corrections. I am being honest when I say I literally can no longer count the times they were resent back out for correction, BTW I do have a full-time, stressful job I needed to walk away from while this nonsense occurred. I did mention this to my sales representative and the response was, "Oh that is just so and so, she does that a lot", no accountability (which turned out NO ONE at Phillip's is held to any accountability. Literally the time this had taken to get it right, even with just the painters, this turned into a part-time job for me!! We had paid them in full late November because I was drinking the Phillips Kool-Aid....they are good at schmoozing!! Which to this day.i regret. I bet if we didn't comply with our portion of the contract, it would have motivated to finish the job timely. Honesty, the worst part was the crown. I was advised this is "the best crown guy they have". It was a JOKE!! He arrived day two of the start date and didn't come back until at least six weeks later. The revision of the crown in the living room and master was hideous (i have photos if anyone care to see them, it's embarrassing), especially in the master!! I called, text and emailed and for a large period of time no one responded to me. I ended up obtaining the owner, Jason Phillips, email to which I advised what was going on, he put me in contact with his "right hand man", which continued to be a joke. I promise this company is all smoke and mirrors. BTW, if your not familiar, Jason participated in a blue collar millionaire interview I believe just over a month ago, which I truly believe is great for him and all small business owners honestly! However, what expense to his customers is there to have gotten to that point? I did email him once to which he replied. The second email I sent in which he was carbon copied on, nothing!! This is literally the WORST home improvement company I have ever worked with in my life. I have SO much more to share, but the length of this is already excessive. However, if you choose to go with this company be sure you do not complete your end of the contract until Phillip's has! Otherwise, be prepared this will likely become a part time job in order to coordinate errors, which in my case were plentiful. If not, your job may be nearly four months until completion. Phillips quoted $1400+ to add Leaf Blaster Pro gutter guards. There would also be an additional charge of $400+ to clean and seal gutters (even though they are less than 2 years old). I ended up hiring a professional gutter installation company that charged $920 for the same Leaf Blaster Pro gutter guards and the clean out and sealing of the gutters were included at no additional charge. Total cost, if we had chosen Phillips, would have been over $850 more for less than 100 linear feet of gutter guard. Always get a second opinion. read more

I hired them to replace my old gutters. A junior associate (part time too) showed up by himself. I was surprised since gutter replacement is a two+ person job. He did a lousy job; gutters overflowed when it rained. I called and complained so they sent their "best guy" with a couple of helpers. He agreed the slant was not sufficient so fixed that. (It still overflowed when it rained.) I asked him about one particular corner of the house and said it wasn't right. He said it was fine. That continued to overflow too. I have pictures to show all this, but the company was satisfied. I was not. A couple of years later, I had hail damage on my roof and on the gutters. The company I hired for that did an outstanding job in replacing my roof but, just as important, they replaced all the gutters and my gutters do not overflow -- even the one on the corner -- with the heaviest of torrential Dallas rains. Phillips just finished painting the outside of my house. They did a fantastic job. They spent a lot of time on the prep work which really shows on the finished product. We did run into a problem with spraying the house due to high winds(45 MPH). They clean up and removed the tape and plastic and had to redo it when the wind died down. They replaced needed wood on the exterior as well. In addition they came up with an idea to fix a problem area that has bugged me for years! We could not be more please with the job they did! We had Phillips out for our gutters a few years ago and were extremely happy with the job they did on the gutters as well. With both jobs I got multiple estimates, they were not the cheapest but they always address all my concerns and came up with solutions that I thought were the best for my situation. There were several projects on my house which included resolution of a complicated roofing/ flashing issues. There was quite a bit of carpentry and painting involved along with rehanging gutters that were not done correctly by a previous roofer. The work performed in all areas was superior. The various teams were very professional, responsive and thorough. This company may be a little above average on the price side but worth it in the quality of work and standing behind what they did.
