Per previous review...we had another job done. This time interior painting. Unfortunately it didn't go as well as the gutters. Scheduled to start a particular day. Crew didn't show up. Called up to see what's what. Stated didn't have a crew large enough for the job. A call would have been in order. Scheduled for the next week. They hired 1 guy who brought 1 guy with him. Which begs the question, what happened the week prior? We'll never know. Work was completed 2 days beyond quote. The crew did a fine job and work full days to try to stay on schedule. Phillips was calling on day 4 for them to hurry and move on to the next job. I was told after the fact that the order was for 5.5 days...no one told me. We planned for 4. Much like the above...we'll never know. Some areas weren't completed as expected, stains are still prevalent. After 6 days of being under plastic and dirt and dust, I told them not to come out and fix...ill do it. Furniture was moved by crew but we had to move it back. Documentation clearly states with every job furniture is moved and replaced. If we didn't do it, the job would have went 7 days. There were other items i took issue with as well, but wont go into. The work done was fine for the most part and we are happy. I did negotiate a small reduction in cost. However, one thing to note...you will pay premium. $6100 to Phillips. The crew received $2043 Phillips supposedly paid for materials and supplies less than $500, plastic was likely the biggest expense. What they pay the crew is their business...but 3500 in profit seems like they made out like bandits. Take note when contracting read more

I had an appt at 10:00 today for Mitchell to come out and give me a bid on a skylight installation. No one came or called. I called them to see what happened and Mitchell was "double booked" and at another appt. No apology or anything. I rearranged my day to be here. These people stink. read more

Their communications are unprofessionally poor and they don't make the customer feel important or valued, at all. Sadly, they only did half the job and never came back. A salesman then came out and explained that he had had forgotten to submit the dimensions for the gutters for our workshop that is adjacent to the garage. He re-measured the workshop and told me they'd be back in a week to finish up. Ok, no problem, come out and finish the job...simple, right? 6 weeks went by and I got no answers from multiple attempts to communicate via email, phone and text. They finally texted me last weekend saying it would be "this week." Well, a week has gone by and it is now Friday and now they say it will be next weekend. Forget it....I'll get someone else. Their final reply via text message, "Ok, no problem." Yes, it IS a problem!! The crew they initially sent out (who did half the job) worked hard, were courteous, cleaned up their mess and did a good job. I have no issue with the field crew, it is with the sales people and the office staff. There is a problem there with scheduling to be sure. read more

Trying to get gutters replaced on my house. So far after 3 weeks I've been called 4 times trying to reschedule. Just got call that this morning will now be this afternoon. Not impressed at all and I'm close to canceling my order. Would not recommended at this point. Will update later.... Good grief!! They just called wanting to confirm my appt for tomorrow. That's 5 times they've called me and I still have no idea when they are coming. Don't waste your time with them. Awful. Not to mention I also asked them to re-finish my front door and when I ask them about it they act like its the first they've heard of that. Wish I could give ZERO stars!! read more

After a recent storm my insurance company came out and said the roof and gutters would need to be replaced, here is the paperwork of what is covered and the amount that the insurance would pay minus deductible. Made an appointment with Phillips to replace the existing gutters and since they were going to do that, how much extra to add gutters to the rest of the house? OK, seems fair enough. But the roofers are starting work in 2 days, I would like to wait until they are done before new gutters are installed to prevent any ladder leans damaging the new stuff. Seems like a plan right? I thought so. Well, roofers came and went so I called up the gutter guy and talked about getting them out there and the price as I would need two invoices. One for the just the replacement of the existing gutters because of insurance payment issues and another one for all the extras that I would pay out of pocket on. That seemed to confuse him. I had to explain that my insurance company would only pay to replace what was already on the house and damaged in the storm and that thee insurance company would need copies of the estimate and follow up paid invoice. That confused him a second time. He said he would have the person who handles insurance claims get back in touch with me. OK, I'll wait to hear back from him. Two weeks passed and I called back and left a message. OK, lots of house in my neighborhood got hit by that storm, I get that they are busy. A month passed. Still nothing. I dropped by their office in between Allen/Plano and tried to get some answers in August 2014. They said they would call me. Today is February 6, 2015. I am still waiting. Even though I have since sold that house and moved from the area, I might give them another call to see what is up. read more

It seems others had less than a satisfactory experience as I did. I had gutters installed in 2017, and there was also damaged wood that needed to be repaired. The project manager did choose a good color to match the roof, and the carpentry work was good. The painting work was ok, but we had to request some areas be re-done. After installation, I noticed the issues below: 1) downspout was not aligned with existing drainage pipe; was off about 2 inches. 2) Gutters leaked both front and back. We opted for the largest size gutters available, and also had the gutters added around the entire roof. Also added the wire leaf guard. Phillips sent someone out to fix the leak in the back, that was due to a missing piece of edge material. For the off-aligned downspout, the rep just used up a piece of material in his vehicle that did not even match the custom color of the gutters. The rep seemed to have an attitude, and we had to request someone else be sent out. Someone else came out the next time, and this was repeated several times, with various explanations regarding the leak in the front. Finally, the correct color piece was added in the back, but still was not in alignment. We were told once we completed payment, that for warranty service the issues with the leak in the front would be addressed as would the off-alignment of the downspout. I believe the leak issues were due to the project manager not being available on the day of the installation to oversee the installation. Lastly, on the final visit, the supervisor came and promised everything would be taken care of, and even called to get the company and manufacturer and description of the shingles from the roofing company we used in 2009. Called in December, and then emailed in December, never heard back. Called several times in March 2018...never heard back. I called the roofing company that installed my roof in 2009 in March 2018, and they reported no one from Phillips had ever called, and if they did, they would have contacted me as I had a Class 4 / 100 year roof and there would be warranty issues. It is distressing that Phillips just flat out lied. After paying top dollar, it seems the "warranty" is useless as once they have their full payment. read more

I would give them negative stars if I could! When the sales guy (Miles Martin) came out to do the quote, he seemed very knowledgeable. He said the crews that work for them are not subcontractors, they are employed by Phillips. He plainly stated that "their guys" do not paint over any rotten wood., there would not be overspray, because "their guys" prep very well. Well he either lied or he does not know " their guys " very well. Supposedly the crew that worked on my house 2 times now , is one of their best and has worked for them for 15 years. Let's just list the things that after 2 times still needs to be done: 1. 3 pcs of rotten wood on the chimney...which is an improvement over the original 6- 7 pcs that were left and caulked over the first time. I bet they used 3-4 tubes of caulk. Not even exaggerating...we have pics to prove it. 2. Only 1 of 2 rotten pcs that were left on a shed in the back yard. Both were left the first time. 3. No wood was primed before....which became very obvious when a huge piece on my kitchen window peeled off the next day. When they came back the second time to "fix" it...they simply painted over it, no sanding or anything. Looks like a 10 yr old did it. 4. There were other smaller issues that after coming back 2 times were half-ass fixed, like peeling paint on the back door frame. 5. Overspray and brush marks on my brick. My quote included all carpentry, paint, labor, 3 yr warranty...etc. My house is 1750 sq ft and is mostly brick and my quote was $3045 minus $250 for a complete exterior discount. We did get another quote from Certapro and it was $2100 including disc and the only difference in what we would be getting was 1 yr difference in warranty as Certapro only offers 2 years. Philips came down to $2595 after I told Miles we were getting other quotes and there was a considerable difference. After comparing and deciding that we would go with Phillips, we were on the books and waited 3 wks for our appointment date. Only to be completely disappointed in customer service and quality. The second mistake next to having them do the job in the first place....is I paid the full balance of the job. Now, Miles Martin doesn't have time to return my calls /emails regarding the remaining issues. I have left a message at the office number and no return call from them either. I usually don't write reviews, but we work really hard for our money. I don't mind paying extra for quality....if that's what I am getting and in this case I did not get what was promised. If you are a widow or single woman good luck using this company. I had gutters installed 6 years ago and due to incorrect installation I had some damage and wood rotting issues. I understood that the guarantee would cover and pay for any damages...not so. They paid half of what it cost to repair my damage when they should have paid the full amount. I have found one more area that needs attention and can't get them to return my emails or text messages. read more

Used them because they were the most expensive and I wanted a good job. The painters did the best they could but seemed extremely rushed. When I asked them to slow down and recheck a few items the lead guy mentioned that they are only getting paid 680.00 for the job that was to be divided between the 3 of them. That's not much considering it took them 3.5 days. I was disappointed considering that I was paying 2800 to Phillips painting. I understand that business runs on more than just good intentions but to only pay the subs 25% is unfair to them and the home owners. Feeling bad for the workers I offered them each 100 extra to come back and fix it on the following Saturday. I gave them 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. We have had two good experiences with Phillips. We had a roofing technician come out quickly and assess an annoying (noisy vent) situation and resolve it in a snap. He offered to tidy our rooftop up with a reasonably priced plan so we did that. We scheduled gutters and they were installed last week. The crew was tidy and super nice and did a beautiful job. I can't wait for it to rain! I've had tons of experience with contractors. Mostly bad. This was a good experience. They followed up to ensure the work was done well in each case. And it was! No trash all over the yard or mess. read more

Consistent with the majority of these reviews, my experience with this company was awful. These guys are not very good at project management, communication, or customer service. They could really not care less about your specific job and they will not hesitate to demonstrate that at every turn. I needed less than 120 feet of gutters put up without any removal of existing gutters. A 1 hour job. They made me wait three weeks to get the initial estimate and then cancelled an hour before. Returned the next week and left a quote and when I accepted the bid, they told me the job would be scheduled in 5 weeks. 6 weeks passed and when I called my sales rep he told me that he forgot to ask me what color gutter I wanted. Not sure why he wouldn't assume that I would want it to be the same color as the other 1200 feet of gutter but whatever. This was the first example of several in which he would make it clear that I nor my home were of any importance to him. I picked the color and waited another 5 weeks before calling them back and getting the runaround about "truck breakdowns" and "unexpected weather" and "issues" at other jobs that caused a delay for the start of my project. He promised me that my project would be completed the following week. Contacted his office on Thursday when nobody had showed up all week and they ensured me someone would be out the following day. Of course, nobody showed up the next day either. And of course, nobody called to tell me anything. I texted my sales rep on Friday to see what the deal was and he unsurprisingly simply ignored my text. We had been texting back and forth throughout this process so it's not like it was an unexpected communication medium. I also called but didn't bother to leave a message as this company does not care to try to keep your business. The job at my place should take a crew less than 1 hour and if they are unable to manage this small project, I would be terrified at the work they would do for a larger project. They had three months to complete a 1 hour project at my home but were too incompetent to figure it out. I eventually called and cancelled the project before it began so I FORTUNATELY cannot speak to their work product but I wouldn't be surprised if it was as sloppy as their customer service. We went with Phillips because the sales representative convinced us Phillips stood by their work, guaranteed the project, complete customer satisfaction. And at first after a small amount of back and forth, we were satisfied. Fast forward a little over a year and ever wall repair we paid extra for the to fix, the exact same areas look as if no repairs were ever done. They sent a contractor out to access. He informs us the work was not done right, even goes so far as to tell us what the original painter/contractor should have used. Further instructs informs us to pay a Foundation person to come out, or he can give us a bid on what it would take to fix what Phillips should have fix (correctly) the first time. Oh, and everyone who was a part of our original job, no-longer works at Phillips. read more

Contrary to most of the reviews on here( as of 4/7/17), I recently had a great experience with Phillips. I had them replace some exterior siding and trim around the house, paint the whole exterior, and installed gutters. I would highly recommend them for whatever project you have. I thought that they were extremely organized, professional, and truly care about customer satisfaction. David Turk was our salesman and we were very pleased with him. During the exterior work and painting phase there were at least 2-3 managers, along with David Turk, who showed up to ensure everything that was quoted was being done correctly and to our liking. They worked fast and did the job right. Everything from carpentry to paint and gutters looks great and functions great. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get work done on their house. read more

If I could give them less than one star, I would....here's our story: after some thorough review searching and quotes, we contracted Phillips Painting to paint the entire interior of our home. There was no furniture in it, is a single story house, etc, so we felt confident that not much could go wrong. Boy were we mistaken! the salesman was responsive at first, but unable to control or impact any of the actual painters. For a job that was around $8,000, we were quoted and expected precautions to be taken so that there was only paint on the wall, and NOT on every door knob, light fixture, piece of trim, etc in the entire house. They did put not plastic down, they left turpentine wet rags on cardboard that we had placed over our NEW wood floors to protect them (and the wet rags soaked through to the floor) and there was not an inch of tape used around any fixture, trim or cabinet in the house so obviously, there was no straight lines. My husband and i took days off of work to meet them at 830 (when they said that they'd show up) and they'd roll in at 1030 or 1100. Also in the contract was for them to install crown molding in several rooms. The first day they showed up, the crew leader said "no, we can't do that". I should have known then that it was doomed, but the salesman said that they were the best crew they had and that they just got started on a bad foot. Well, if Edgar and his crew are the best that Phillips has, would recommend going somewhere else. We even had the salesman come out to the house and told him how disappointed we were and showed him some of the work that they had done (and not done) and he agreed that it was crappy work, but in the end, all that he could do was send our complaint to the manager and all that got us was 300$ off ($300 from an $8000 bill). I have multiple pictures of the substandard job they did, to include them using the kitchen sink to rinse out their brushes and leaving the sink a MESS, as well as using a stick from the back yard to stir the can of paint, using our hose in the back yard to clean out other brushes (which killed the grass) and leaving the hose out instead of putting in back where they found it, and me having to point out the paint that they had dripped on our new floors after we had the cardboard removed (isn't that what the drop cloth is for?!) ....the list really does go on. the final days that they had to come back and finish the job i had to point out all the areas and tell them to wipe the paint off most of my new screen door where they painted the trim around it (seems like if they would use tape, that would have been avoided!). The final review has taken a month to find time to write, and we are still finding things that weren't done (the inside of bathroom doors, for instance). This was a lesson learned the hard way for us, so if you are looking for quality work (and for painters to do the right thing and respect your home) , I don't recommend Phillips. read more

I used this company back in 2016- great service and knowledge. They know gutters, provide a warranty and are pretty transparent in the process. They had to redo some gutters that were improperly installed and worked around the previous contractors poor work product while helping plan for less cost to me. Have not had any issues since, and wish they did more contracting work besides paint and gutters! read more

I'm surprised by the number of negative reviews because I've used this company for five projects in the last three years: new gutter on the back of the house; paint/caulk all exterior wood and trim; paint the metal fence around the property; repair and re-finish damaged drywall in the master closet; and repair/waterproof dormers where water infiltration was occurring. All the reps who have been to the house to provide estimates have been on time and great about returning phone calls. The prices for all the jobs have been good and the quality of work has ranged from good to excellent. I get written estimates via email within a day or two of the rep coming to the house, followed by promptly emailed receipts once I've paid. The closet drywall repair was the only inside job that they've done, but there were no problems with clean-up or damage to the interior of the house while the work was in progress. So far they've been the most reliable resource for home repair that I've encountered here in the last three years, and they've been far better, more reliable, and more skilled than most individual contractors I've dealt with. read more

Our house project originally started out to have the exterior repainted, but then I detected rotting wood between the gutters and the soffit boards. One of the prior owners' contractor failed to install the small metal drip edge that would have prevented the wood from rotting. As such, all of the gutters had to be removed to replace the rotting wood all around our house. We solicited four bids, and we selected Phillips. They were not the cheapest, but their quote included higher quality paint. The start of the job was delayed due to weather, but once they started, the crew did a very good job and worked very long days. I was consistently updated on the status of the job, and the project manager walked the job multiple times. One day, I had three office personnel checking out the work. While I experienced no communication issues with Phillips, they probably experienced some with me due to my work! With a job of this size and magnitude, it is expected to have a few issues, and they have all been addressed and in a timely manner. The issues involved paint coverage, and I believe it was due to the shorter winter days and lack of daylight. The crews did a very good job of cleaning up after their work and even used a magnet to pick up any nails and screws from our driveway and property. Gave them a try and will probably give them an opportunity in the future. read more

Wow, I can't believe the comments and experience received by others. I can say my experience was nothing short of professional. I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but it may: Glen Anderson was our salesman. My experience started in Dec 2016. Glen showed up on the day and time he said he would. Actually, I was late for our appointment. :( And he did a great job of measuring, documenting the house and the gutter system. Phillips was not the cheapest, but they were the most professional. All of my other estimates were less, but were replacements for the current gutter system that was having issues. You see, we were getting our house repainted and wanted to finally fix our gutter system that worked great as long it did not rain too much. A good rain and it would overrun the gutters making them useless. We needed what Glen proposed. After getting the house painted, in Jan 2017, Phillips came out mid morning and by that afternoon they were gone with a complete gutter system that matched the paint and looked great. By the way, after our paint job Glen came by and made sure the installers would have the right gutter color. Glen followed up with a quality check and agreed to fix a small issue with the extensions in our front bushes. Phillips had it fixed within a week. Like I said i could not be happier with Glen, the gutter system - it works great, even in the huge storms we've had since their installation - and the installers. No way I'm climbing up on my two story roof like they did. The only regret I have is we did not pick them to paint our house. read more

We contracted Phillips Painting and Gutters to replace our old gutters, repair old wood that was decaying on the chimney and other boards. In addition, a full exterior paint job. Sean Hardy was the project manager and did an outstanding job. Some work done the by paint sub-contractors was missed or done improperly the first time. I personally did not see this. But, Sean did (He had ad pictures to prove it) and made the team come back out and properly fix the issues. He was responsible for making sure the job was done with quality. Kudos to Sean. Everything looks great and the gutters worked as they should after the last heavy storm. All work was done in budget of the estimates and no debris left behind. read more

Phillips just finished painting our home. They listened to our needing the completion done as soon as possible. The team started the job two days later. There are several things l like about the way they did the job. The prep was thorough....power washing, caulking, and making necessary minor repairs. All lentils were prepped and painted. Gutter and downspouts were included. All surfaces received at least two coats of quality paint. The team cleared patio furniture and replaced it when the job was finished. Finally, they completely cleaned the area of any debris (minor) around the house. It was a pleasant experience. They came on time, they painted, and they left. Richard Gardema evaluated, quoted carpentry and painting the exterior of my two story Tudor home. Phillips crew arrived on schedule, power washed all surfaces and replaced all exterior wood trim that showed weather deterioration. All the new trim was individually primed. The carpentry skill and performance was perfect. First phase of painting included masking and painting wood trim brown, Second phase of painting included masking and painting the siding cream color. The painting skill and performance was perfect. Rodrego and Horhay have proven to be outstanding in their profession. Robert Garcia the production manager visited, inspected and reviewed the completed project with me. My Tudor home now looks better than new thanks to Phillips Home Improvements and their employees. read more

While over-priced, Phillips did a good job with my gutters and downspouts. Today I tried to call to get someone out to add one downspout, but the girl who answers the phone said I had to meet someone at my house for a free estimate and then schedule a time for someone to come out and install - again I had to be there. I told her I did not want to take off work twice for such a small project. I asked if someone could give me an approximate cost and just get the work done, but she wouldn't budge. There was no one else there that I could speak to either besides her she said. I JUST WANTED ONE DOWNSPOUT ADDED. They directed half of my roof to a single downspout, and I wanted another installed - and I am willing to pay for it... I am forced to go somewhere else because the girl answering the phone will not deviate from her script! Bad business if you ask me. read more

I would not recommend these guys the workers did a great job but they tell you they will do things and show you what you think your getting and in the end it cost a lot more. I wanted them to pressure wash the whole house it was $ 180.00 added and it was never done also I was told they would replace boards if they needed it in the end to replace 2 chimney boards 1x3 buy 5 feet high was $106.00 when asked about the price because they never told me it was going to be extra and for the price of the boards I went to home Depot and they were 8 dollars for each. Also had a quote for gutters Sally showed me the ones I thought I was getting I mean $3800 what she showed me was gutters with gards but they did not come with gards. When I called her she said she missed spoke so in the end Sally new what I was going through with cancer and having to do chemo and other things. They took advantage and I don't want it to happen to other people I don't have it in me to fight with them. so I paid them. I can only tell others to watch out for the way they do things. Very Poor Customer Service! They never showed up for the scheduled estimate. I called 15 min after scheduled time and they weren't sure what happened but thought that the person coming out was having car trouble and would call back. They never called back, so finally I called them back at 3:45 and they told me my appointment had been canceled because they were not able to reach me the previous day to confirm my appointment. read more

Phillips Painting is great. You have to get past a little bit of sticker shock at first but their work is top notch. I had a hole in my ceiling were I stepped through from the attic, but they fixed it right up. Most repair jobs would probably still be noticeable to a certain degree but not this one! I know where it was at yet I can not tell. Why four stars and not five, I was annoyed when I was bumped from my scheduled Friday to the following week because a previous job ran over. I work from home so it wasn't really an issue but if I had to take off work it would have been a issue. read more

We had the exterior of the house painted plus refinish the front door. I was impressed with the professionalism of David Turk and the team of painters. David was careful to point out exactly what work would be included in the job and all of it was all done. My husband was especially pleased that all of the promised chaulking was done. The paint job itself is excellent, the paint team was quick, they covered or taped everything, there was no overspray or drips on anything. They cleaned up after themselves, it was a delight to come home to. I would certainly recommend Phillips to my frineds and family read more

Stay away from these guys. I used them to paint my house. They were completely inexperienced and did a terrible job. The tar paper was not put on, new siding was put on vertically instead of horizontally, new siding was put on top of rotten siding that was supposed to be replaced. Everyone I dealt with from the crew to the "manager" was a nice person. I am still finding mistakes (complete lack of caulking on one side of the house). I could go on about the mistakes made during this process, but would simply advise not to use them for any of the many services they "specialize" in. read more

Would not hire Phillips Home Improvements, my experience with them was not pleasant. I hired them for painting the outside of the house and gutters. It started when they did not show up on the day, they were suppose to paint the house. For a company that suppose to be professional you would think they would give a courtesy call that they were not going to make. When we rescheduled the painting, the painters showed up but no one had the paint and the painters told us we were suppose to have the paint. So I called the project manager Alex who said he was 5 minutes away, it took him so long to arrive the painters left. Rescheduled the painting again this time they painted the house but it was not the color we pick out. Rescheduled again to finally get the painting of the house correct. They did repaint the house with no extra charge but I did have to burn 4 day of vacation due to their error. The gutters went better except they did not put the leaf guards on. At this point I'm done with them I call and had them refund the money for the leaf guards instead of coming back out. I also would not use GreenSky while all this was going on I contacted them to not pay Phillips Home Improvement until the painting was corrected and they paid them anyway. Both companies seem sketchy. read more
