Everything is in its place, and even the magazines are perfectly spaced out, as it it's actually been done with a ruler or something. Even the guy behind the counter was wearing a shirt and tie. I don't know itf it was a special occasion or something, but everything looked great. The one thing I don't like is the open boxes of sweets on the counter. You could drop money in those and transfer germs. At the door there is a wee stand, presumably for fresh fruit and veg, but, for some reason, containing only onions. Good shop though, would come here regularly if I lived nearby.

This is the local 'everything under one roof' health service point for Springburn and the environs…read more It has recently been renovated so is lovely and clean and modern inside. It also has a new pharmacy attatched to it as well which is quite handy. There are all the doctors surgeries which were there before, as well as the baby clinic, dental surgeries, podiatrist, mental health services, sexual health services and various other clinics, classes and support groups. It is also a handy point to get information on anything going on in the community like baby groups, quit smoking groups, or any information on charities, which always leave loads of leaflets there. All the staff in various departments who I have ever spoken to are really kind and helpful and generally seem to take pride in doing a good job for the community and individuals as well. Overall I think this is a very complete and convenient facility.

They seem to have upped their game regarding the fresh fruit and veg. Lots of lovely pre cut and bagged stuff. (Especially butternut squash, I bloody hate doing that). They now have self scan checkouts also. Big plus cos the q's were awful before. I'll definitely visit more often while I'm on my wee lunch hour walk.

There is also a Co-op travel centre and a Post Office within the building, making it easy to get those important daily tasks done! From around 6/7 each night they have stacks of near - sell by date bread at vastly reduced prices. Great for feeding the ducks at the local Queen's Park!

Tesco Express on Glasgow Road, Baillieston, is a brand new store…read more Situated between Baillieston Main Street and Bannerman High School, it is the first in a new development where the Shell petrol station used to stand. It's very shiny and new, in that way that only Tesco stores seem to achieve. With a good selection of food, snacks, alcohol and other drinks, newspapers, etc, it's a great addition to the area. There are a few check-outs and another self-service check-out, so you're set even when it's busy. It's a bit smaller than Tesco Expresses in the city centre (Ingram St and Sauchiehall St in particular), but has all the same amenities. There are also 2 cash machines (RBS I think, and LInk, so you won't be charged extra). Since you previously would have had to walk all the way to the Clydesdale on the Main Street or the Bank of Scotland at the corner of Barrachnie, this is a good spot. It's open 6am til 11pm daily - perfect for when you realise you forgot the milk!

Friendly Stores is a funny little shop on Dumbarton Road, just next to the junction with Byres…read moreRoad. Although I would query the name a little, overall Friendly Stores is a useful little shop. When we went in, the man behind the counter was listening to his iPod and pretty much ignored us - which is why I wasn't so sure on the "friendly" part. Truth be told, the shop is a little grotty, but on closer inspection they have quite a wide range of wines and beers - all at very good prices. For instance, you can buy eight bottles of Leffe for £5.99, and you can't get better than that. Besides the off-sales, in Friendly Stores you'll find a selection of sweets, chocolates and crisps, as well as soft drinks. If it's something like this you're after though - it might be a better bet to go to the newsagents two doors down.

Perhaps it's just me, but quite why proprietors of all that is bad for you have suddenly developed this concern for the well being of your hands as opposed to any other part of your body is baffling. And I don't like it. If I'm buying alcohol I don't want reminded that I should be looking after myself and I expect it's the same for smokers. "I'll have a bottle of Buckfast, 20 Benson and, eh, actually aye gies a pair of they neon gloves". No, I don't think so. I want a gruff server, little chat and plenty of change. Thankfully the Friendly Store in Dumbarton Road is one of the least appropriately-named places I've visited for a carry out and fulfills its duty with little fuss. With frequent special offers, it's one of the cheapest in the area and offers a good selection of beers, spirits and wines, coupled with absolutely no selection of winter wear.

It would perhaps be fair to say that this little shop isn't the most salubrious of places. It's a little bit, dare I say it, tatty. However, it has a fairly good selection of groceries and necessities. It's also well placed to serve much of the residential Milngavie area. You wouldn't be able to do a substantial shop here by any means, but it is useful to pick up the occasional bits and pieces.

Handy newsagent on Rutherglen main street. Good choice of soft drinks, sweets, papers and magazines…read moreand cigarettes. Does a small section on household goods and bread, milk and the like. Popular with kids in the mornings heading to school. Has a good choice of birthday cards and other types of cards and balloons, banners and stuff for parties. A basic choice of presents you can buy, maybe good for a last minute addition. Staff are really helpful if you cant find what you are looking for. Except for one guy who has to be the most miserable man i have ever met in a newsagents,(mistakingly didnt give me £2.75 change once, and denied it! the manager soon sorted it out though)) he doesnt smile, never says anything to you, and looks generally unhappy to be there,he also literally snatches the money from your hand. He usually only works in the mornings, so at least he is gone for most customers later on in the day. That one gripe aside its a great wee shop and really handy.

This is a new addition to the hospital in the "death star" main part of the hospital. It's actually quite a small M&S but they've managed to cram a lot of stuff in and cater for many people: - It's mostly food but there is some stuff like tissues, hand sanitizer available near the checkouts - There's a sandwich section if you're a staff member/visitor looking for a quick bite - There's also ready meals etc which I imagine would be really handy if you're heading home from work/visiting and need to grab something quickly We just popped in for some bread and a little dessert treat for me. It was lunch time so it was super busy and as the shop is small, it can be hard to navigate. But people are just in and out again so it shouldn't take too long. Overall, this is a nice wee M&S which I would definitely visit again.
