Corner stores are so hit and miss - you either get a warm friendly greeting, or some total grump who doesn't want to talk to you. Thankfully, the guy here was super welcoming and had a big smile - so that's the reason for the 4 stars. The shop isn't massive but it has a good selection of all the corner store essentials, and was very clean and tidy (even though the guy was stocking shelves at the time).

Magazines, crisps, sweets and I even think there's a freezer underneath the piles of newspapers, although I've never bought frozen stuff here. They have a good range of booze behind the counter, including a selection of wine - nothing fancy, all pretty cheap, but if you need an emergency bottle of Jacob's Creek (and after a hard Monday at work, who doesn't?) then it's fine. Prices are standard corner shop - you'll get cheaper if you go to a supermarket but I don't feel like you get ripped off here. Best of all are the staff - it's been the same family running it for years and they're really friendly, greet you by name and always smiling and chatty.

'Ahhhhh, forgot milk, child needs milk, need milk... stop screaming!' And many many more. It's right there. It's pretty well stocked. It's reasonably priced for a corner store, so yeah, me likey!

It stocks all the basics you would expect from a small shop - juice, milk, cold meat, fruit, cans, sweets, crisps, emergency toiletries, magazines - and also some things you might not expect - they have a small freezer, a good wine selection and some lovely fresh cakes delivered daily. Great for those days when you've run out of a couple of things and a visit to the supermarket is your worst nightmare. They also have a Subway just by the main door and that's where this shop loses marks. I am that person who gets easily annoyed in a Subway queue. It was a standard lunch for me at my job for years so I knew exactly what I wanted and was quite impatient with anyone who didn't (come on, it was my lunch break!) I got especially irritated when people tried to order out of sequence - time is money after all. Anyway, time is something you definitely need a lot of to visit the Subway in this store. I have been in on occasions where I am the only person to be served and still have to wait around 10 minutes for my salad to be made and pay. Today I was in a queue of 3 people and waited 20 minutes for my sandwich. TWENTY MINUTES! Partly this was down to the dreaded Subway novice in front of me, but the 2 members of staff were just incredibly slow. And very grumpy about their "large" queue. They were audibly complaining about pretty much everything whilst serving everyone which was incredibly off-putting considering I had been standing watching them make 3 sandwiches for the past 20 minutes. I genuinely don't know what made me go for a Subway for lunch today. The last time I went for a salad bowl the lettuce was limp and old, the tomatoes were past ripe and the chicken was hard. I vowed never again, but today hunger won out whilst I was picking up a couple of essentials. My sandwich today tasted good, it was your average sub. But given the experience, this time I'm definitely sworn off this branch of Subway.

As soon as I popped in the door I was greeted by a box of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, phew! I bought around 4 and they came to about 80p, what a bargain! The woman working that day was really helpful and chatted to me as she was bagging my tomatoes so I decided to share my tomato based disaster with her.
