A strange phenomenon I've noted recently is the number of off licenses which have started to sell gloves.
Perhaps it's just me, but quite why proprietors of all that is bad for you have suddenly developed this concern for the well being of your hands as opposed to any other part of your body is baffling.
And I don't like it. If I'm buying alcohol I don't want reminded that I should be looking after myself and I expect it's the same for smokers. "I'll have a bottle of Buckfast, 20 Benson and, eh, actually aye gies a pair of they neon gloves". No, I don't think so.
I want a gruff server, little chat and plenty of change. Thankfully the Friendly Store in Dumbarton Road is one of the least appropriately-named places I've visited for a carry out and fulfills its duty with little fuss.
With frequent special offers, it's one of the cheapest in the area and offers a good selection of beers, spirits and wines, coupled with absolutely no selection of winter wear. read more
