Selling the usual array of meats, cooked and raw, and with excellent deals on regularly, this is one fantastic place hidden away on Sauchiehall street. Get your bum here. In the past I had never seen it in their display but came on the of chance, I asked the server if there was any, and I was in luck there was a stock pile in the fridge. From having a 5 min healthy discussion on preferences of wing-tip sirloin and ribs of beef I was given a sneeky peep round the back. These guys provide the beef for the best steak places in Glasgow. I'd eaten at one of them earlier in the week and my eyes were bulging at the trays of chateaubriands and rib in sirloins. So, as you'd expect, their meat is very well sourced and as good as you're going to get anywhere. I took a1kg 1rib Angus and pan roasted it in butter and wilted rosemary to get a good sear, then a quick 15 mins in the oven. I had it sat on some roasted beetroot puree with a port, wine and fresh beef stock reduction and the beef was some of the best I've ever eaten. Superb quality and ageing. Week after I wanted a lamb rump as I had the hunger for some dauphinoise. They were happy just to prep some up straight away, no fuss. The lamb was delicious........as was the dauph ;) ........and the sausages. Get the Italian fennel ones and slow cook cook them in your tomato sauce for pasta. Very, very impressive. Prices are as you'd expect for meat of this quality. Look on the window for weekly £10 deals. Steak and chicken. Well worth it.

They throw in nice touches like free fresh gravy with the beef olives etc, and are always happy to give you a wee bone away for the dog. Butcher: "Oh sorry, someone else has already ordered lamb shanks." Me: "OK....do you only have one lamb??" Next call Thomson Brothers; Me: "Hi, could I order some lamb shanks please?" Butcher: "No problem, sir. How many? For Friday? See you then." On the day, a cheery welcome, some good banter and some superb shanks, all wrapped and ready to go. In terms of quality & size, more like lion shanks than lamb. The shop looks small from outside but is extremely well appointed.has a fantastic selection of meat, including steaks, beef olives, sausages, black pudding...you name it, they've got it. Great wee shop on Overton Farm!…read more My guy, some friends of ours and I yearly, visit Overton Farm for their Point to Point Horse races. The past two years have been absolutely gorgeous and we've had an amazing time. The farm sets up a track in their grass fields and the day starts off with the pony horses and then the main event with at least 8 races for the day. There are bookies set up if you want to get your bets in for each race, and there is a bar and a wee cafe set up as well. At the front of the farm is the Overton Farm Shop & Butchery which has a wide variety of goods to purchase on the day as well as every other day. It's quite a small shop, but there are loads of delicious meats and fresh eggs, baked goods and basic kitchen staples. I stopped in for some snacks to enjoy during the races and left with a bag of locally baked biscuits, 4 bags of crisps, a bag of Hanover Pretzel Pieces (YES) and a diet irn bru. The line was out the door the day I went in, because of the horse race, but the staff were just as friendly as ever helping everyone make their way in and out in no time. Make sure you bring cash just in case as there is no ATM on the premises. Although they do have a card machine, the signal in the area is very hit or miss, so the machine was down the day I was there. If we lived in the area, we would shop here all the time for sure, but once a year will have to do it for us. Love this wee shop.

If the length of queue to pick up your Christmas order is anything to go by then I knew I was on to a winner. I queued for over an hour on Dec 23, while heavily pregnant, to pick up my order. I can honestly say it was worth it, as Christmas lunch was fantastic! I have paid several visits to this butchers since then and I can reassure that although this is a busy little place the queues aren't normally as long as at Christmas! I have sampled several of their award-winning sausages, and can report that their pork & leek sausages are delicious! They also have a great range of prepared meals ready to go in the oven. From these I love their chicken fillets in a white wine sauce. If you like your steaks visit on a Monday and if you buy two steaks you get a free sauce to go with your steak. I have bought their rib-eye steaks which are deliciously beefy and tender. If Muirhead is out of your reach, then do check out their website as they have an online ordering and delivery service. If you can though, it is worth a visit. Although it is a little small, the shop is pristine and the produce is well presented. There are often daily or weekly special offers also and a Gold Card loyalty scheme to reward regular customers.

It is a working farm and registered Farm Assured so you can be sure that the meat has few food miles and is Scottish. The shop is busy with many people returning for their regular orders. They have now started offering a butcher service for local hotels in the area. They have a good range of products and some are award winning. I would reccomend their steak pies and I've heard good reports about their sausages and black puddings. They also offer breakfast packs with flat (lorne) sausage, beef and pork sausagess, breakfast sausage, fruit pudding and haggis. They have started selling packs of meat for catering for large numbers. There's also a nice deli section with a good variety of Scottish cheeses, including some made in Ayrshire, pate and sauces, dips, chutney and jams. They will also make up a hampers for you for a special occasion. There's plenty of car parking and it is well signed. The staff are friendly and they have their own butchers who will cut meat to your liking and advise you the best way to cook it. It is well worth making a visit for something a bit different and special.
