In the past I had never seen it in their display but came on the of chance, I asked the server if there was any, and I was in luck there was a stock pile in the fridge. Not sure why a butchers shop would stock an item then not place it on display, very odd indeed. There is a good selection here, from steak pie's to eggs, definitely a place to visit.

From having a 5 min healthy discussion on preferences of wing-tip sirloin and ribs of beef I was given a sneeky peep round the back. These guys provide the beef for the best steak places in Glasgow. I'd eaten at one of them earlier in the week and my eyes were bulging at the trays of chateaubriands and rib in sirloins. So, as you'd expect, their meat is very well sourced and as good as you're going to get anywhere. I took a1kg 1rib Angus and pan roasted it in butter and wilted rosemary to get a good sear, then a quick 15 mins in the oven. I had it sat on some roasted beetroot puree with a port, wine and fresh beef stock reduction and the beef was some of the best I've ever eaten. Superb quality and ageing. Week after I wanted a lamb rump as I had the hunger for some dauphinoise. They were happy just to prep some up straight away, no fuss. The lamb was delicious........as was the dauph ;) ........and the sausages. Get the Italian fennel ones and slow cook cook them in your tomato sauce for pasta. Very, very impressive. Prices are as you'd expect for meat of this quality. Look on the window for weekly £10 deals. Steak and chicken. Well worth it.

Walk by often enough, but was compelled to go in today noticing the £10 offer which includes 2 sirloin steaks, 2 pork loins, 4 steak lorne sausages and 4 pork sausages. And if that doesn't make you want to go as well, you're either a vegetarian, or just plain ole crazy (yes, those are different). Nice decor, welcoming, with a good layout and professional staff. Excellent selection of all sorts, including lamb burgers that are absolutely getting destroyed next visit. Delighted with my purchase today and will return. Enough said.

Nevertheless, I always enjoy wandering around a good selection of market stalls and you'll certainly find that on Sauchiehall Street whenever the Market comes to visit. Both the variety and the quantity of stalls here is pretty good - many of the more popular stalls are duplicated at each end of the market to cater for the high numbers of customers they expect. Probably about two thirds of the stalls available sell food; everything from traditional sweeties to churros and bratwurst to jerk chicken can be found. There's hot curry, Greek Souvlaki, Paella and stews, as well as cheeses, cured meats, jams, pickles, spices bread, pastries and cakes to take home. A bit of everything, really. The other stalls sell gifts, plants and jewellery. There's plenty of small businesses selling things like home made soaps and candles and you can expect scarves and accessories available too. My main reason to visit is usually to find something a bit different for lunch, but it's not rare that I end up picking up some interesting bread and a gift or two as well. I always take the time to visit when the market is here, I just wish that we had more like this in Glasgow.

Sainsbury's on Buchanan is one of the largest Sainsbury's Local stores, I've come across, located…read moreby the Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow city centre, it's a great central supermarket for most of what you need. I was impressed by the selection in the store, with a good selection of cooked meats and dairy products including milk and cheese, tending to go beyond the usual Sainsbury's Local offering. The store is open daily until 10 pm, which is an hour earlier than most Sainsbury's Local stores in England from Monday to Saturday, as of course England is restricted by Sunday Trading laws. I wasn't a fan of the checkout area, it seemed too big and a little confusing, but the Sainsbury's Smartshop app is handy to skip the checkout as you simply scan items as you walk around the store, pay on your phone and head out. The staff weren't overly friendly or helpful, but still, it's probably the best place for groceries in Glasgow city centre in a prime central location within the city.

For a city supermarket this has everything you need for that pop-in shop on your way home from work. There's a kiosk section with the usual magazines and tobacco products, as well as fridges full of lunch-time snacks. There's a decent bakery section, good fruit and veg, lots of easy-make dinner options and a good selection of booze for when you've had a particularly long day. Granted, Sainsbury's isn't the best value of the supermarket giants, but the bakery has discounts at the end of the day and it has a lot of its own-brand cereals, frozen foods and soups etc which are significantly cheaper than the big brand names. I usually pop in during the after work rush hour, but the long queues quickly disappear and you never have to wait very long for the self-service check-outs.

I was not disapointed - a HUGE array of spices are to be found - at really cheap prices too, and in bulk or smaller.
