I would give a 2.5 if I could, but it was either a 2 or 3 star. I have been going to LifeTime for many years on and off (since their grand opening), but I have to say that even though they are consistently making changes, not all of the changes are good. And, for sure the changes are not to entice the current members to stick around. After all of the current raising of prices and inflation now LifeTime has some of their best classes only offered to Signature Memberships (which is WAY more than a normal membership). I find this to be very sad. Now, I realize that these classes such as Ultrafit or GTX are a smaller group, but it is insane to ask a current member to upgrade their membership to such an extreme amount of money just to take the class. This is not personal training, just a class. Not to mention many times there is hardly anyone taking the class. If you are a family, then every family member has to upgrade, not just one (what is this, a drink package on a cruise ship?). Also, there have been multiple times where I or my workout friend will go to a treadmill or elliptical and it is not working, really?? I love Lifetime Fitness and really enjoy the instructors, they are truly the only reason I stay, but these prices are getting out of control. We will see how long I last before going to another gym. One last thing to note...They are one of the only gyms in the area that does not provide a teacher discount, now that makes me really, really sad:( read more

It's gotten so crowded, and with the quantity and selection of machines, its almost impossible to get any machine or, sometimes, free weights. Not to mention some of the members can get rude if you're on a machine that they want. This gym has so much potential... but it's not living up to it. I use to love this gym, however it has gone down hill. Membership has gone up more and more and a lack of classes for members. To top it off they get rid of the basketball courts and replace with pickleball courts. No regards for the kids, camps and athletes that use the gym on a regular. What about the loyal members who utilize the services? Why not poll the members to see if its a good fit? It seems they are trying to cater to one crowd and weed out another. Very disappointing. Don't do it. I had a personal injury and reached out to Lifetime to put a freeze on my account over the phone. I trusted that they handled it over the phone until I got a billed $260 at one time. When I called them, they wouldn't let me speak with a manager and instead told me they couldn't do anything about it because whoever I spoke to originally did not notate my account. Then they told me that I am responsible for my own membership and left me to pay the $260. Dirty Dirty! Terrible client service. Not to mention, nothing in that gym is worth that price. This place has no cense of customer crevice. I've been coming here for the past year. I have a schedule which lets me work out late nights only, I am trying to so hard to get back into getting fit. Not easy when you have lost that dedication after the pandemic but I'm trying and fighting that tiredness. But another obstacle is getting through the check desk because every time i come this old gentleman is always at the checking in desk and he's always with a chip on his shoulder, his lack of customer service only makes me wonder what this place is like. I have a family membership and seriously wanting to go elsewhere. I've never written anything negative on a business, but this is fkn ridiculous. I just walked in and he's in a conversation with someone and looked at me and went back to his convo, ignoring me completely. So I walked right in, now he calls me to check in as he's trying to fkn embarrass me. Where I come from this is completely unacceptable. Love Lifetime! I used to be a member in 2012, cancelled due to location. We have now been back a year and so happy to be back! We have never had a bad experience, always feel welcome, and look forward to going every chance we get. We have 2 kids with an 8 year age gap and they both have something to do in the child center that they both enjoy. Not a lot of gyms can do that. It gives me a chance to spend 1 on 1 time with my older child and drop off the tot. Or leave both of them to go to the spa, get my haircut, talk on the phone, sit in the cafe and have lunch or go for a swim. I am able to get actual quality alone time for up to 2.5 hours of childcare! To me, that's priceless. In the summer we are able to go swimming every single day if we please. Really helps us put every cent to use of our membership. The main reason I go here is to workout, and this place has it all. Everything that you might need for whatever goal you have. I have never had to wait for a treadmill, day or night. The weights are plentiful and if there is ever a wait during peak hours, people are courteous and mindful. The staff really go out of their way to ensure guest are taken care of, facility is clean, everything is in working order, and always with a smile. I have never felt that our needs or concerns came second ro anything. I recommend this club to everyone I meet, and I couldn't say enough nice things about this club. read more

My complaint is that it is a little crowded lately and I am unable to get in a good workout as equipment is often taken. More kids there as well due to Summer break. My work schedule is packed and busy so I try to adjust it in order to change times I go to accomodate the "rush hour" but it doesn't seem to help. Day and night, packed. Been a member for a while and the place is really going downhill to the point I don't even want to go anymore. I do a lot of swimming and there's seemingly always something wrong with either one or more of the pools or the spa's. Their maintenance staff is either short-handed, under-funded, or doesn't care. They keep having turnover with the management which I think is part of the problem. There's one dude who works there who rotates between 2 or 3 other Lifetimes. Have you ever been in a relationship that ended badly? We're talking hair-pulling, in-your-face, "I friggin hate you!" kinda bad. Well my time here at Lifetime Fitness under the trainer Eddy was like one of those bad relationships and now I'm loving the idea of getting a "sexy revenge body." Lifetime Fitness is a nice gym in itself --- Great equipment, clean, 24hrs, etc. But the trainer named Eddy is a true asshole. My sis-in-law and I have paid nearly $3,500 between us for six months of training with Eddy and recently decided to do our own thing. He seemed civil at first but the true ugliness of his character showed when we arrived to the gym for one last session and he was totally being distant. No eye contact; no smile; hell, not even a "hello." He even had the nerve to lie and say there was no session for the day. After an awkward conversation, my sis-in-law stated she will not see him anymore due to not being comfortable with him and he gave us a sardonic thumbs-up. Screw you too, Eddy. Come to Lifetime Fitness for a great place to work out and get a trainer because you definitely see results. If not because of the bad experience with this trainer, I would so give this gym more stars. read more

Good gym, bad experience with their childcare Facilities are nice and access to equipment isn't a fight. They do a good job of keeping things clean, as well. You can't stop gym-goers who don't clean up after themselves, so can't blame them for that. For classes, they can be hard to schedule with. We've had the experience where "someone lost the paperwork" twice. We also had a bit of an issue where a discount given by the gym was reversed by billing and we had to resolve it. Regarding the childcare services, it's scary. I left my daughter there once and came back to find her bawling in a corner with other kids throwing toys at each other. The distracted teenage girls "watching" things were blabbing about their life drama without paying attention. I asked them to handle the violent kids and they did, with apparently requisite eye-rolls characteristic of drama queens. Another gym-goer (a police officer) and his wife told me later that the gym childcare centers are unregulated by Arizona law. They found their kid wandering the hall once and no one could answer why or how. So, they don't take their kids their anymore. My wife and I followed their lead. Really torn on the place with so many pros and cons, but it's close and ha lots of options... read more

What can I say Life Time has become my second home. The staff are so nice and welcoming. The classes and the instructors are amazing. I have never been to a cleaner Gym than this one they are so on point with keeping it clean inside and out, along with the shower rooms. After my long 12 hour shifts in the medical field I really look forward to going to the gym even if I don't get my full work out, I can still relax in jacuzzi, sauna, and so on. My job offers free membership at another gym however I choose to pay and come to Life Time Fitness after looking around at other Gyms, and for good reason. I don't know how people complain about the prices when this is the premier "chain" gym in the entire state of Arizona. You get what you pay for, especially with the facilities and cleanliness. Cheaper gyms don't have towel service nor squeeky clean showers that LIfetime has. I've been a member since they first came into Arizona way back when. I lived in the East Valley so I was a member at the Gilbert location and sometimes frequented the Chandler one, next to Ikea. What's very interesting is that even though Lifetime is a huge national chain, all their locations vary on layout and what they offer. Also, they are open 24/7. This is one of the main reasons I'm a member here. I think they're one of the only ones open 24/7. I sometimes go to work out after midnight and I like having the option to do so. It's a trip when you go to a different Lifetime, especially if the floor plan is the opposite of what you're used to! I know the Tempe/Chandler location has tanning beds, which I wish the Goodyear location had. There are a lot of group classes available as well as very good child care. If you take advantage of all that they have to offer, it is NOT expensive. Also, the sales people are to the point. They are not like Bally or LA Fitness where they try to give you a "deal" by giving you a year or two worth of membership, so they can literally take all the money from you up front. I know so many people who have prepaid for their gym memberships and never go! Lifetime is month by month so you can quit or place your account on hold. Best "large" gym in Arizona! read more

Horrible first impression! There's definitely a reason why this location ranked so low on Yelp! Called and spoke with an associate and asked if they are open for new member tours. I was excited to hear they're open and staff are available for new member tours until they close. I live about 25 minutes away from this location and decided to make the trip with my family. We arrived at 5:20pm and was greeted by an associate at the counter. I said that my family and I would like to inquire about a tour and a new family membership. The associates immediate response was "there are no associates available for the reminder of the day. Also, come back tomorrow before 4pm, which is when there would be staff to assist." I asked if there were any promotions for families and was just directed to go to their website. I asked if we could look around and she said NO. She said she's the only associate in the facility and can't allow that. Wow, that fact that she discouraged us to look around, sealed my decision to never come back. It was clear that she didn't care about us or the disappointment in my children's faces. This was so extremely disappointing because we were genuinely excited about this facility. I guess the staff at this location just don't care! But most importantly, the fact that the associate said she's the only one associate there is a flat out lie! I don't see myself or my family ever joining this gym and it's thanks to the staff that are hired to help their current and future customers. read more

So, throughout the years I've always struggled a little bit with my weight and fitness. I finally took a stand and wanted to live a more active and healthy lifestyle and went around to browse gyms. I signed up at Lifetime in January and this was my 2nd time signing up. I've signed up once before prior to moving to California, but I remembered what a great facility it was and I decided to revisit it and in the five years I was gone, let me tell you this place got REVAMPED. My membership is $59 dollars a month, at first I thought that it was way too much, that's 3+ months at another gym but I soon realized that, it is well worth it. I need to be able to feel motivated, and have a place I can WANT to come to, and Lifetime does that for me. First off they're open 24/7 all 365 days. I've tried, 24 Hour Fitness, Fitness Works, Bally's Gym, LA Fitness and I've got to say that in comparison to these gyms, Lifetime Fitness is Buckingham Palace. It's the only gym I plan on going to from now on. They've got multiple pools, sport courts, rock climbing, free classes that start from 5am-8pm, a child care center, kids fitness classes, a child center and fitness equipment galore. They've also got lots of extra personal health instruction, like pilates, nutrition and training and yoga. They also have a LifeCafe full of great food and protein shakes, vitamin, bars, and anything you'd need nutritionally for your fitness goals. I've noticed that this facility is always a pristine clean and the staff is ever so friendly! Come by and get a guest pass and you'll definitely sign up. read more

Terrible company. Subscribe you to their magazine and add fees to your account without your permission. Make it impossible to cancel by not returning your calls. They tell you you have to cancel in writing but what they don't tell you is that they do not make the form available on their site and you have to stalk them to try to get a return call. They ignored my call for months and think I should be trying to continue to reach them when i am no longer in the area, so sick that I'm in the hospital 4 times and busy with numerous calls to doctors to try to get into a very busy health care system and then I have to stress about trying to reach this pathetic place. My wife and signes up over last summer on a month to month basis. We liked the facilities and enjoyed going. Come September our schedules changed and we couldn't go so we decided to cancel since we did not have the time to go. My wife went in and filled out the forms to cancel our memberships starting October. Come to find out the last couple weeks we began getting emails from their financial managers about our accounts being delinquent for the last few months. I like how they are quick and nice to attract customers and be helpful but the minute you want out they "lose or don't have paperwork" for wanting out of your memberships. So After being bombarded with threats of being sent to collections and filing with the Better Business Bureau (which they have an F score by the way if that tells you how much they care about their image or customers) I called today and was offered to close my account in good standing but I had to make a final payment of $120. All this has been BS and they're just a money hungry company like anyone else. We haven't set foot in their gym for months so why charge someone? I only gave it two starts because they do have nice facilities but suck at customer relations. Anyways, end rant. read more

This is actually one of the nicest Life Time gyms in the country (I have been to many of them)... and it is also one of the least expensive (compared to the membership fees at the other Life Time gyms). With that said, before moving to AZ, I was a member of a high end club located in downtown Chicago and paid less... so yes, LTF is expensive compared to some other options out there. I think the membership fee is up to $54/month now. However, they have very nice amenities including basketball courts, indoor and outdoor pools with water slides, child care with hours seven days a week, cafe, wireless internet, and a salon. They also have plenty of free yoga, cycling, and activity classes available. Overall, I'm addicted to going to this gym and won't consider going elsewhere (well, until the monthly fee gets over $60). read more

this club regularly closes down parts of club therefore denying their customers access to the equipment they pay a premium (relative to other gyms) for at advertised schedule of 24/7. recently indoor pool closed again for 3 days and when asked why or when it will be open - answer is " I don't know". in addition there has been zero communication to members on this issue so that you can plan for the "outage". Everyday is a surprise with this organization. I have been a member since this club opened. This negative behavior towards customers has been consistent since day 1. Lifetime Fitness is definitely one of the nicest gyms in the Valley. The monthly dues are high, however, this gym has everything. If you are into powerlifting, crossfit, yoga, or any other form of exercise, this place has something for everyone. The facility itself is really clean, as their custodial team does fantastic work keeping it that way. There is plenty of parking and even a lot of shaded spots as well. This is potentially a five-star gym, but there are two issues with this place. First, when equipment breaks, or is down for repairs, it will be weeks before it is fixed. In other gyms I've been to around the Valley, the equipment is fixed within a day or two. With the amount of money being collected from members, this is unacceptable. Lastly, the wide open spaces are poorly utilized. There used to be more equipment for legs and other various body parts, but they have downsized to make room for a large workout station. This is fine, but now it is difficult to find a machine to use. Other than that, this gym is terrific and handles big crowds really well. The Lifetime staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone wanting to improve their health. read more

The other have is amazing! But on days when it's the mean girls I skip most of my work out. The bad ones talk about parents in front of other parents and complain about having to be there! I get it some days none of us want to go to work but maybe don't say it out loud when someone is handing you their kid... Due to the fact that it's not 24hours anymore forced all the other times to be condensed with people and during these times vaccinated or not, it's super unsettling being in an area of 25+ people breathing hard. Don't get me wrong I love people getting their workout on, but if they would only go back to 24hours it wouldn't be so cringy just stepping foot inside. Not only that there were no price adjustments when they stopped being 24hours which was the big seller for me getting off work at night. But, it really sucks when you want to use the lap pool but there is swimming lessons that take both lap pools.. this really angers people who are paying top dollar for their membership for such a nice gym. I am just frustrated and had to write a review. My husband and his friends went to life time fitness and he tried it out for a month because he was told he can join for just a month. This was important to us because PHX is not our permanent home. He did not know that he would have to go and cancel and thought that he would get a bill in the mail before another month membership. We checked our billing statement and saw our card was charged, therefore he went and asked to cancel and spoke to the manger stating that he only wanted to try the membership for the month of April. He cancelled and was told I would get a refund for the month of May. We not only didn't get out refund we were charged for June. Now we have to go back to the fitness center and or call and go through the process that should have been already completed. Went to the fitness center to ask about what happened. They told us that there was a computer shutdown or something that happened the day my husband came in to cancel. Hopefully we don't get charged again. As for the refund; we didn't have anything on paper and it was just what the manager had said to us. We got a prorated amount returned. The guy helping us was nice too. The lesson is. Always get everything promised on paper and when you only want to try something for a month have a notice when you walk in the first day. read more
