Done with this place. It's over priced, over crowded and the staff are uptight and rude. Parents- be ready to be harassed if you are in the pool with your kids. Three lifeguards on duty and I'm reprimanded because my kids (age 9 and 5) get more than 10' from me in 3' of water. I'm literally in the water with them and told I need to get closer to them.... Lifetime has a special place in my heart as I became a member in HS back in north Atlanta. I was a founding member of lifetime--Franklin and have been a member ever since. I do feel like they haven't updated the gym much since they opened. Most of the original machines are there and beginning to show wear and tear. The men's sauna consistently has one of the burners out, leaving it not as hot. Also the tile in the sauna is turning black from the amount of sweat and filth in there. Staff is very kind and helpful, common areas are very clean. The pools are great and the outdoor spaces during the warmer months are a gift. The classes are always filled up and the gym is pretty crowded. I would like to see them add on to the gym to make more space as more and more people are joining. Fees are going up but I don't see amenities increasing with the price. Overall I love this place and am thankful for the space to unwind and decompress daily. read more

Overpriced, overcrowded, poorly managed and poorly maintained. I was a founding member and this club was fantastic from 2017-2021. So many of the employees who made the place special left after that time (better opportunities, I assume) and the remaining staff have consistently gotten worse since then. Turnover seems to be extremely high and half the trainers have no clue what they're doing. They are kidding themselves if they think their cheap ACE/ISSA certifications make them worth over $100/hr. The 'stretch sessions' are a huge money grab and waste of time. You can get MUCH higher quality training at any of the local personal training or bodybuilding gyms. If you want to pay your lifetime salary for a gym membership and wait for every machine or packed classes, then this gym is perfect for you! We joined 4 years ago and for my wife and I paid $150 a month and the gym was clean and not crowded. Now our membership fee as more than doubled and we pay over $300 and it's not as nice and way overcrowded. Pay more, GET LESS! That should be Lifetime's moto. I have never seen such greed. This gym is definitely not exclusive, more like let's include everyone that went to the market during Covid to buy 12 rolls of toilet paper. Don't be a follower like the rest that go to this gym because it's severely overpriced! I would hate to see what their prices will be in another 4 years because every year it goes up by 25%. My husband and I are Lifetime members from another state. We were in Tennessee visiting family and decided to get a workout in while there. The facility and locker rooms are lovely. The equipment was also in excellent condition. The only complaint we could have is the front desk staff seemed to not want us to be there. Instead of a welcoming smile and "positive" explanation of what our day pass would give access to, all comments were wrapped in a negative: "You're NOT going to take a class, are you?" "You're NOT going to use the outdoor pool are you?" The funniest comment (to us) was when we asked what the cost would be if we purchased a day pass in the future: Snotty tone: "Our minimum fee is $229 a month". First off, we are not joining, ma'am, we asked about a day pass, and second, we pay more than that monthly for our Lifetime membership in the New York area, so your pricing doesn't really phase us one bit. All in all it was a good visit. We both had an excellent workout despite the initial reception. We'll be sure to return to HAPPILY pay for our day passes when we return to the Nashville area. read more

Overpriced and overcrowded and it's not clean. We have been members since 2000 and decided to quit effective Jan 2025 and join another gym. You have to wait for machines too long and the pickle ball courts are never available. They just keep increasing prices but decreasing amenities. "Out of Order" - For $230 a month for one person, you get filthy locker-rooms with several restrooms out of order, an outdoor hot tub that has been out of service for several months, a yoga studio area with open ceiling tiles dripping down into towel bins, a year-round heated outdoor lap pool, that is only heated in the summer, and maybe a functional piece of equipment hear or there. My review pretty much aligns with a whole bunch of the other reviews here. And that says a lot. Very honestly, I don't feel safe in this club at this point. I have complained over the years about the lack of cleanliness in this club (and actually every Lifetime I've been to is the same; this seems to be a systemic problem), and particularly in the locker rooms. They are downright nasty. Especially the toilet areas. Very truly, I have regularly seen gas station restrooms which are far cleaner than the restrooms at Lifetime. Equally, the sink areas are just out of this world disgusting. I do realize that members should do a better job cleaning up after themselves in the locker rooms, but if they aren't going to, it falls to the staff to do that job for them. During my time at Lifetime, they most certainly weren't doing it. This was a serious problem for me before Covid hit, but once that happened, the thought of coming into Lifetime became a non-starter for me. I got all of the emails saying how they were increasing cleaning, etc., but to me, what they started doing AFTER Covid is what they should have been doing long, long BEFORE Covid. And then after Covid hit, they should have done even more. Recently I had to decide whether or not to reactivate my membership (it's been on hold since Covid started), but reading the reviews on Yelp, it's clear to me that nothing has really changed. I used to be a member of Lakeshore Athletic Club, an amazing gym in Colorado. I paid them $100 a month, about $35-ish less than I pay Lifetime. Their club was utterly spotless. They employed a full-time, around-the-clock dedicated cleaning staff. Very literally every time a person got off a machine, there was a member of the cleaning staff immediately--and I mean immediately--cleaning that machine. The locker rooms and restrooms were equally spotless and properly attended to. I've also been to many gyms where I paid approximately $10 a month and found a much cleaner environment in many of those places as well (not all, to be sure, but many). Lifetime has to do WAY better than a $10 a month gym. The bottom line is this: For $135(-ish?) a month, FOR ONE PERSON, I should not feel like I am going to get some nasty illness every time I am in the locker room. I shouldn't constantly find nasty, sweat covered machines. You shouldn't expect your members to clean those machines. Your trainers shouldn't be cleaning machines, they should be training people. It's very clear to me (and apparently to a whole bunch of other people too) that you just do not care. It's simple laziness. And that's why I canceled my membership. I love gym in general, but I can't stand how dirty it is. Lifetime needs to do much, much, much better. read more

This is the best gym in the area, by far. I'll start with weights; Lifetime offers 5+ squat racks, dumbbells ranging from 5-120+ lbs, multiple cable machines, and several of the best machines from TechnoGym. Next to the weights and machines, you'll find an area where you can stretch, workout, box, etc. Looking for cardio machines? At Lifetime, you have a vast selection of treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and stair masters. They all have TVs with multiple channels attached to them and are generally always clean. Lifetime also offers a variety of classes included with your membership such as cycling, H.I.I.T., Zumba, etc. You also have access to both indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool makes you feel like you're at a resort with multiple day beds, couches, water slides and more. Overall, Lifetime is well worth the money if you're looking for a gym that is clean, fun, and has everything you'll need. read more

I've been a member at lifetime athletic Franklyn since opening, and last time I went to the gym I was discuses!! . So I went to shower and there were literally, parasites infesting the shower box. Literally, I lay $140.00 per month for a gym, the least I would expect is that the showers and the gym would be clean. I will post videos and I HOPE that I don't get a disease from this. Great gym if you care about your personal health & fitness. Excellent equipment you don't find at other $20/mo gyms such high-end TechnoGym brand cardio equipment (rower, stairmaster, skillmill), an abundance of squat/power racks, and lots of classes with great instructors. Locker rooms are great with nice little perks like disposable razors and mouth wash if you forgot to pack in your gym bag. Front desk staff are always polite and welcoming as well. I don't use some of the perks like the Spa, Cafe, Basketball courts, Indoor & Outdoor swimming pools, Family locker rooms, or child care, but those are all on-site and look very promising should the need ever arise. They really have you covered for nearly everything here. A couple of (minor) gripes, are it can get quite busy and loud in the morning with the classes sometimes co-mingling in the common gym area and not in a dedicated classroom, which is tough when gym is already packed. Also sometimes the locker showers will drip from the overhead faucet and other very minor maintenance items. Again, minor gripes, but overall a great gym that will reward you if you are a person who takes fitness seriously. read more

I want to update my review after seeing negative reviews. Some of these sound like people just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I don't want people to get the wrong impression because joining was the best thing I ever did! It's a gym, yes it gets busy. But I have NEVER not been able to use equipment or take a class because of it being busy. Someone's using the machine you want? Wait for them to finish. Want a certain spot in a class? Get there early. I don't see what the big deal is. I've been a member at different clubs here and CA and it's pretty standard for gyms to get full during high traffic times. As for the staff, I have never had any bad encounters with front desk staff, kids academy employees, or maintenance. I had one small issue where my card got charged incorrectly and the GM Immediately put $70 LT Bucks into my account. (Basically a gift card). The entire staff was quick to help me come to a resolution. For the person saying there is only one yoga class a week, that is not true. There are several classes throughout the week. Often times, both studios have class in sessions on the weekend. It seems as though people expect the gym to work around their specific schedule. In reality, they do a good job of finding times that are most popular. Between that, how clean they keep the facility, the amazing pool and my absolute favorite- the Kids Academy. Life time is awesome! I really feel grateful and part of a community here. They have got a really amazing group of people working the Kids Academy. Lifetime Franklin has been our saving Grace! The kids classes alone is well worth the membership! We would pay 10x's the amount had we put our kids in the abundance of activities and classes the gym offers. Not to mention 2.5 hours I get as a mom to take care of myself. The steam room and sauna are heaven. I literally feel like I get to go to a spa every day. I love the classes but do desperately wish they had more of a bikram style yoga. The heated yoga is good but nothing compared to Bikram. The gym has everything we need and more. Our entire family loves going which is a huge plus. Not a huge fan of the food at the cafe but I am more on the picky side when it comes to food. Oh did I also mention they have a couple date nights available for kids where you get 5 hours of child care so you can go out in a date etc. which is included in your membership? Whaaaat? That alone practically pays for my entire family of four. It is definitely at the top of our budget but we work out and are in the best shape we have ever been in because of Lifetime read more

I also love that there is a jungle gym so I can train upper body for aerial acrobatics. Really love it so far. I've actually never seen such a poorly run gym. They charge an enormous amount of money and you can't use any of the equipment. There are too many people and half the equipment never works. I've wasted so much money over two years now and can still count the amount of times that I've actually been able to work out on one hand. There used to be great gyms in the area and Lifetime seems to have forced them out of business and created an awful environment. Also note; people are fleeing the gym so fast for these reasons that they're charging new members even more $$ to try and get it under control. For starters, the cleanliness of the gym is not good. I'll be honest in saying that for the price, I expect it to look like its been cleaned in the last week (apart from the lobby; kept spotless). Second, equipment availability is severely limited due to no management of the member count. Aka - there are almost always far too many people for comfort there. Third, the basketball courts are treated like a secondary offering (rather than a mainstay) even though I and several other members visit lifetime primarily for basketball. They almost always have half the gym closed (events, camps, etc), and the other half is typically taken up by pickleball players that will literally start assembling the nets in the middle of a pickup game (fault of management; No signage; No clear schedule; No warnings for players on the court). My fourth and final point is that this gym costs more than 3 gym memberships combined in the area (maybe even 4). It costs ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH. I get that's not much for some folks in this particular area, but that is a substantial monthly cost for me given the category. Given this fact, this facility should be above and beyond what a normal gym can offer. While this is true in theory, the reality is that you will never get enough access to this gym to get your value back. If you're going for basketball, it will always have something to get in the way. If you're going for weight lifting, expect to weight 10 minutes for a barbell and/or any other piece of a equipment you needed to use. read more

Update: LifeTime offered to refund all of my payments but not the $15 a month hold fee. I simply rejected the offer and went to my credit card company and disputed the charges. I suggest you do that. You'll get the full amount back. LifeTime will also potentially have to pay a fee themselves for each disputed charge, which is a little bit of justice for the fees they're charging others. In fact, I suggest you skip asking LifeTime for a refund and just go straight to the bank. Maybe LifeTime will learn a lesson from this and change up how they're doing their billing. You could be helping someone else down the road. You guys need to understand what is going on. First off, if you put your account on hold for COVID it is possible it will come off the next month. You really need to pay attention because they will not make that abundantly clear. It seems Lifetime is more about trying to grab money from you than being up front. Maybe they will be up front with you about it. My experience was that I asked that they put a hold on my account when they opened up post COVID. They put a hold on my account for one month and then started charging again. That was 4 months ago and they've been charging me ever since. They sent me an email to let me know my hold had been applied for. They never sent me an email or any notification that the hold was removed or they were charging me again. Seriously? Not only that but they are charging me $15 a month to keep my account on hold. During COVID. During a pandemic. Really? And then also if I want to cancel they will charge me for 30 days and then cancel my membership. So, I'm essentially paying a cancellation fee. Look, if you're planning to join this gym you need to understand the shady billing practices that are going on. I only found out about this through another member. This is not public knowledge, for good reason. There's a big group of us that got together at LifeTime and we're not coming back. Part of it is because the amenities we use aren't available during COVID. But we've all already decided that once LifeTime is back at full capacity, we won't be coming back anyway and this is one of the major reasons why. LifeTime, if you pay attention to your reviews, I hope you see this and change your ways. It's not okay to treat your members like this and deceptively siphon money from them. Especially during these times. You come off as opportunistic and money hungry. Also, I asked for a refund for the time they've been charging me since they took my hold off. I mentioned I hadn't been to LifeTime at all during that time. In fact, I hadn't been to LifeTime since the pandemic. Their response? Doesn't matter, we're keeping your money. read more

More than a year after coming here, I have decided to update my review. The gym has gotten A LOT better. I can now come here and work out and get done what I need to get done. The locker rooms are no longer overrun by children which is great. The pool area especially on Saturday morning can still be crazy, but otherwise, it is fine. Overall, the facility is clean and has almost everything you could want in a gym...an awesome locker room, spa area, classes, indoor and outdoor pool, big gym floor with weights and machines. The trainers are always around and friendly. I especially like the Master's Swim Program. I have been attending since August and am a much better swimmer! I'm frankly shocked at the number of negative reviews here. I've been a member for about 4 months and have had great experiences here. I cam from California, I've trained in some of the best gyms from Venice Beach Gold's to outdoor gyms in San Diego, to high end gyms. I'm VERY impressed with Life Time Athletic. Every single employee I've encountered has been very polite and friendly - from the sales folks like Kevin, to the trainers, to the class instructors, to the admin staff to the cleaning people! I've thoroughly enjoyed the culture and space of the yoga studios. They have a GREAT thing going on here. Truthfully, that's what sold me on the gym. I haven't been too fond of other yoga studios in Nashville that I've tried, and LOVED it here. I'm a yoga instructor as well, I'm mega-picky about yoga even though I try not to be. I love the variety of classes, I love most of the instructors. I love that the structure of the classes truly allows the teachers to showcase their own personality and style - yet still maintain some good consistency between the class. You want Flow but more bootcampy? They have a teacher for that. You want Flow but a little more calming? They have a teacher for that You want something in between? Yup - still got you covered. As a former personal trainer myself, I can't help but notice how other trainers operate. I've been very impressed from what I've seen here. The trainers seem to push their clients, but not to unsafe levels. I have NEVER ONCE seen a trainer pull out their phone while they're with a client and that is something incredibly rare and refreshing to see. The classrooms always look very clean. Though of course in January and February they're packed but that dies down. I find the weight area a little lacking in equipment, but nothing I can't deal with. I do agree that very few gym members clean up after themselves - from wiping down equipment to putting weights and attachments away. But I do my best to clean up after myself and others, not a deal breaker. Also, BIG FAT HIGH FIVE to the maintenance crew! Like this is huge people! If equipment breaks down or malfunctions... some fixes it immediately if not sooner. I was SO SICK of going to gyms where something would break and it would sit there with a sign on it for a month or longer. That does NOT happen here. The spa... holy cow. I had a massage with Tom earlier this week. I can't say enough good things about him. His energy, his tone when he talks, the pressure he uses, his all-encompassing knowledge of anatomy and pressure points. I was stretched, massaged, calmed and invigorated. I just moved here and joined Lifetime the moment I walked in and looked around. My gym back home was similar (actually not as nice!) and $40/mo more with very limited usage (outside with masks) during COVID. I see some negative reviews here about the fees but the amenities, size of the facility, cleanliness, etc. are worth the membership to me. My only frustration is the classes fill up FAST...it seems I may have to set an alarm the day registration opens for the early morning spin classes. That being said, my solo workouts have been seamless and I've never had to wait for a machine...maybe a bench on occasion. read more

Terrible customer service. They're more interested in grabbing as much money as they can from customers during a pandemic then they are about caring for the health and well-being. The staff is argumentative and charged me even though they closed at the start of the pandemic and we never used the membership or club since. For me, my loyalty is all in how you handle a situation. Had they been respectful, considerate, and understanding...I would have returned after the pandemic when I felt it was safe. But their terrible attitude and greed has caused me to end my membership permanently. I would pay more to be treated respectfully and I'm worth it. It used to be great in 2018-2019. Post COVID, the rates have gone way up, and it's more crowded than ever. The hot tubs are always out of order, which is a major reason I come to this gym.
