Just so you know, I've never taken the time to ever write a review about anything. I joined yelp, just to write this review. I'm an extremely easy going person and often tolerate a lot, but Lifetime just left such a sour taste in my mouth.
I currently have almost everything I need to meet my fitness needs but was looking for just a little something extra. I started to search for gyms near my house online and I came upon Lifetime. The picture looks amazing and most of these reviews are pretty good. I decided to contact someone at the gym for pricing, just to get a heads up. It's 69.95 plus you will pay 8 percent tax which brings it close to 75. Though that is expensive, I would have been willing to pay it had Lifetime just blown me away. I honestly thought, how could it not? I probably would have just signed up over the phone, I'm that impulsive.
I decided to go in for Open House and check it out instead. I had every intention of walking out of there a member, I just wanted to go through the motions. I thought to myself, it's so expensive, the picture is amazing, I'm sure it's a great place to work out.
I was scheduled with someone named Stephen at 4 who when I got there apparently had already left for the day. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment and he wasn't even there. That part didn't bother me. It didn't matter who showed me around, I was probably going to sign up.
It's the next guy that just really blew it for me.
Troy (a manager he says) came to basically ask me "what do you want?". I sat in the lobby waiting for someone to guide me around and show me what Lifetime had to offer and got a Troy walking up and cockily asking me flat out (seriously he said it like this) "yeah, Stephen isnt here, I'm Troy.. what's your name? Okay so what's up what do you want?" ...um I want a tour of this place. Not only was it Open House, but I had been communicating with someone named Donald via email who set me up with Stephen. Not only THAT but when I walked in I said I'm interested in a membership. WHAT DO I WANT? lol... use your brain.
I didn't let that get to me, but because the rest of the tour was less than amazing, I'll add it in as a detail.
He leaves, comes back, calls me the wrong name (I then correct him) and he laughs. Why did he laugh? Who knows, maybe he thinks he's hilarious for saying the wrong name. People mess up my name all the time, who cares.
I go into his "office' and it just felt like he couldn't wait to get rid of me. He basically asked me what interested me about Lifetime Fitness (nothing so far) and when I told him I just wanted to see what it was all about he was rude. "I'm going to need more details". UHH ... lol...
I guess I was able to understand that there was just so MUCH to offer, I needed to narrow down what he needed to focus on selling so I'd sign up. Little did he know, I was already planning on signing up... it was his attitude that was just ruining it for me. Finally he brings me on the tour.
While we're touring he basically insults me a few times, asks me why I'm so quiet (which he was giving me a tour and was not personable at all, why do you think I'm not chatting about my life?). I mentioned my apartment gym once and he rudely replied "why do you keep bringing up your apartments, this isn't an apartment gym"... RUDE. Then when I went to reply, he saw another female and started flirting with her. I guess a co-worker, so he didn't care what I had to say.
Finally after the tour, which by then really didn't impress me like I hoped it would (they have everything under the sun which I expected, it's the service that just completely sucked) we went back into his office to talk. By that point I had actually been rubbed entirely the wrong way. I told him that it really was a lot of money and I had a lot of these amenities already elsewhere. He rudely states "what you expected not to pay salestax?" ... which is not even what I said.
I finally called im out on it and told him he was extremely rude. I told him the comments he had made since he met me, just completely uncalled for. He apologized and wanted to talk "no..t his is good, I need to know"... which seemed a little better but still... god... obviously I'm still bothered because I'm writing this review.
He suggested i come back another day and talk to Stephen (the guy tht wasn't even there when I got there) because maybe he was nicer. He also had to promise me that he normally sells soooo many memberships (I guess his ego flew out when I started to call him out, seemed like he was building it back up with empty promises). And this dude was a manager?
This club was beyond unprofessional. Needless to say they lost a sale. They can go screw themselves for all I care lol... I don't need a club to treat me like that when they were trying to get my business. Makes no sense. read more
