From the very first consultation, we connected well and we've been going strong for over 5months. I have lost just shy of 30lbs and gained almost 8lbs of muscle mass at the same time. Lalo is really passionate about training people and it really rubs of you to keep you motivated and energized. His programs are well thought out and customized to your needs. He also does a very good job setting expectations, so you understand what to expect on your journey. Lastly for me, it's the conversations we have during our sessions, his selflessness to help even outside the shop and his attention to detail to prevent injuries that make him stand out among the rest. Highly recommend Coach Lalo for your Personal Training needs.

When we lived in Bellevue, WA I used to take a Krav Maga boxing class. However, I decided I wanted…read moreto try boxing again here in Austin, TX. So, I decided to try Title Boxing Gym on Research Blvd. I signed up for a 60-minute boxing class with 15 minutes of core work. The energy was high, the coach motivating, and the workout not for the faint at heart. The class started with a warmup and gradually transformed into a fast paced, intense cardio and strength class. The class included boxing fundamentals with strength conditioning that really pushed you to the limit. No prior boxing experience was needed, although one of the managers stepped me through the basics. In the boxing class, the coach called out 1 2 3 4 5 6, which referred to the standard punch number system coaches use to call out combinations quickly. The standard meanings are 1 = Jab (lead hand, straight), 2 = Cross (rear hand, straight), 3 = Lead hook, 4 = Rear hook, 5 = Lead uppercut and 6 = Rear uppercut. To be honest, she was calling out the number so fast at first, it was hard to keep up. At my prior class, they would say jab, cross, upper, and hook. She was kind to come over and ask if I needed help. When I told her I was not used to hearing just the numbers, she added the description. After a short while, I was able to catch on. We performed combinations and ran around the room or did burpees (hate burpees) between sets. Title gym is clean, organized, and set up to handle a room of boxing rigs. The music, lighting, and overall vibe helped keep motivation high. Our coach was super motivating yet challenging. The front desk manager was kind to show me around Title gym. OMG...this was one of the most intense workouts. After taking the boxing class, I was literally soaking wet. My guess is that I will fall fast asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

The switch is on the other side of the desk and you have to yell at the attendant to get their attention. Today was particularly annoying. The attendant on my side was busy and when I leaned in to try and get the attention of the person on the other side by the bed switch, the guy on my side (Joel) was very abusive and told me to get "out of his space". I was so shocked that I told him to go to hell. I guess I was just so amazed that an employee would tell an 80 yr old customer to get out from behind his counter like the customer was some kind of criminal.

We…read moreuse the club consistently, follow the policies, and pay a significant amount each month for what is marketed as a premium experience. There are many things I genuinely appreciate about Life Time, particularly the instructors, who have consistently been one of the strongest parts of the club. Unfortunately, my experience with Kids Academy has become increasingly disappointing, and an interaction today brought several longstanding concerns to a head. First, policies need to be communicated and enforced consistently. When something is permitted one day and prohibited the next--or seems to depend on which employee is working--it becomes very difficult for members to understand what is actually expected of them. I am completely willing to follow the rules. I simply expect those rules to be clear, consistent, and communicated respectfully. More concerning was the manner in which my children and I were spoken to today. My children are also members of this club, and regardless of a disagreement or policy issue, I expect employees working with children to communicate with them respectfully. I was extremely disappointed by the tone and demeanor used toward them. This experience is especially troubling because I have already had concerns about what I have personally observed in Kids Academy over time. I have repeatedly seen very young children crying or visibly distressed for extended periods, ignored and wandering desperately seeking caregiver attention, and interactions that, in my opinion, lack the warmth, patience, and attentiveness I would expect from a childcare environment, the lack of genuine care for the children is appalling. This is not up to standard- particularly those associated with what should be a premium family membership. I recognize that this is gym childcare and not a preschool, and my expectations reflect that distinction. However, basic attentiveness, kindness, appropriate supervision, and respectful communication with children should not be considered premium amenities. They should be the minimum standard. There are certainly kind employees in Kids Academy, including some of the younger staff members who have been wonderful with my children. My concern is not intended as a blanket criticism of every person working there. It is that the overall quality and consistency of the childcare experience does not seem aligned with the standard Life Time promotes elsewhere in the club. My children are older and are able to communicate clearly with me about their experiences and advocate for themselves. Based solely on what I have personally observed, I would NOT leave a very young child who cannot yet communicate independently. I don't expect perfection, and one unpleasant interaction would not ordinarily cause me to reconsider a membership I have and one I would like to maintain. But when inconsistent policies, poor customer service, and concerns about the environment in which members' children are being cared for begin to form a pattern, it deserves attention. Life Time charges a premium price and presents itself as a premium club. I believe it is reasonable for members to expect the quality, professionalism, and customer service in Kids Academy to reflect that same standard. After today's experience, I am genuinely questioning whether the value of our membership continues to justify the cost.

All of which I made the trainer aware of prior to signing the contract. After just two sessions of the trainer not respecting my physical limitations, my back locked up and sent me to the emergency room. This episode continued into three weeks of excruciating pain and limited mobility. The emergency room trip took place in December, I have not been back to the gym since. Upon reviewing my contract, I saw there is a "Cancellation Policy No Fee" clause stating, "if by reason of death or permanent disability, the customer is unable to continue the Agreement, Buyer or Buyer's estate shall be relieved from the obligations of the contract, and if buyer has prepaid any sum, the unused portion shall be promptly refunded. Legitimate doctor's office note and verification of permanent disability/permanent inability to participate in the activities or death of customer is required." I have provided official letters from my VA primary care physician, VA chiropractor, as well as my VA verification letter of my permanent and total 100% disability status for review of medical termination. The elevate fitness contact "Jon Nelson" has rejected all documents as insufficient, claiming to need further specification of physical restrictions and duration of restrictions -- other than the permanent 100% disability and restriction from anything heavier than five lbs or any activity that worsens my chronic conditions...? I have asked to speak to someone above him, as well as attempting to put in my official 30 day cancellation request -- both with no response. At this point, I could not in good faith recommend the personal training services here to anyone under any circumstances. There is a clear lack of care or concern for the actual health and long term wellbeing of their clients. Their only notable concern is profit with no regard to conducting ethical business.
