I can't recommend Massage Rx enough. I've been going to Michael monthly and have noticed a positive difference in how my body feels. Michael starts each session with an assessment, checking to see if my hips or shoulders are out of alignment, my legs are straight, etc. He's very knowledgeable, often explaining why certain parts of my body hurt due to poor alignment in another part. He then comes up with a plan for the session, using both massage and stretching to work on the problem areas. The entire time, he checks in to make sure the pressure isn't too much. It's still a relaxing massage, but it's also therapeutic. I noticed such a positive difference after a few sessions, I signed up for the monthly membership... which is definitely worth the price. Jeremy Haley was my favorite massage therapist on the East Coast. As a massage therapist as well I feel I have relatively high standards. We used to work together and occasionally during the work day something would bother me and Jeremy would be the first to notice, and offer to fix it. He would give me a 10-minute massage so I could do six hours of work. I was also seeing him monthly for 90 min session. It helped me so much on daily living and to do my job painless and on the highest level. He is efficient, precise and dedicated to his work. Massage Therapy Burbank is located within Phenom Crossfit (The address is listed on Victory, but you actually enter through the back of the building thru the parking lot). Jay's emphasis is sports massage therapy so if you're an athlete of any sort in need of a massage to release the wear and tear of your particular training routine, i highly recommend Jay. He has a sport therapy-style approach to your session starting off with an assessments of your body's alignment and bio-mechanics (or lack there of) to assess how to proceed with your massage. When I initially booked, Jay informed me that the session would be loud due to the crossfit classes regularly going on there. There are no scented candles or oils used, just a good quality massage table in a private room in the gym. This was actually a bonus to me. Look, there's a time and place for spa-like frou-frou massage sessions so if that's what you're in need of, you'll want to look elsewhere. But if you need a firm massage with an attention to detail to your specific areas that require massage therapy, then Jay is your man and you shouldn't hesitate to see him! read more

They gave me the run around as to whether two masseuses would be able to come, the time frame in which they'd be available, as well as male or female preferences.... They took my info and told me they would get back to me with a for sure answer tmro, the next day comes they tell me the woman booked can't do it and the new one who can needs to know our gender because she doesn't deal with men... a bit ridiculous. We're in a new age where ALL WALKS OF LIFE should be tended to. We practically jumped thru loop holes to accommodate the company rather than the other way around. We have a newborn baby that we have to be mindful of and this was stated in the initial phone call. Moreover the woman on the phone Alice was trying to be so reassuring that we wouldn't have any other mishaps / they've been in business for 40 years etc. THE BOSSMAN JAY wouldn't even contact us to see how to go about fixing the matter. This is an excellent massage therapy place! This is specifically for areas you want to work on. No relaxation massage here. I worked with Jay who has excellent knowledge about the body. He did a full body assessment first and let me know what was wrong with my alignment. During the massage the guided me through what he was doing and possible causes of my pain. After the massage he demonstrated ways in which I would help stretch my body to prevent any more pain or injury. He showed me that much of my pain was not from tendonitis and injuries that chiropractors and physical therapists have told me I had--but from patterns of tension that he worked on. Awesome! Jay really knows his stuff, I felt like I was in professional and knowledgeable hands. He gives you a quick body alignment test which I've never had done before, and then he quickly works with you on all of your problem areas, many of which I never even knew I had.
