However, the operational model ultimately made it difficult to get the proper injury care I needed, leading me to seek treatment elsewhere. The main issue comes down to how client care is structured: Initial Evaluation: You are assigned a top-tier certified trainer, but you only see them during check-ins. Session Start: On regular visits, you're handed off to a second tier of staff who are also quite qualified, but you only get about 10 minutes maximum with them at the beginningof your session. The Remainder of the Session: For the bulk of your time, you get handed off to a third tier of assistants who seem to have little to no formal background--often appearing to be college kids working a seasonal hourly job, with high turnover. When recovering from an injury, proper form and active guidance are crucial. On multiple occasions, I was doing exercises that felt wrong or unsafe, and the assigned, unqualified jr assistant just stood there watching without providing corrections or instruction. I do my exercises religiously at home, and so i dont need to drive across town to have an unqualified junior person fumbling to show me exercises and help me maintain form. It's disappointing because the high-caliber staff are employed there, but your actual interaction time with them is so diluted. If you need consistent, hands-on guidance from certified professionals throughout your entire session, this setup may fall short, like it did for me.

Mark, the owner of this branch, is truly one of the best physical therapists I've ever met. From the first day, he made me feel confident that everything would be okay, and he was right. We are still working on my recovery, and while I still have some days when the pain comes back to "visit," I now also have many days with no pain at all. The team has also taught me how to improve my posture and change the way I work at the computer. I never realized that sitting and working long hours could cause so many physical problems, but thanks to them, I've learned how important proper movement and ergonomics are. I also want to thank the entire team. The front desk staff; Jackie, Chelsea, and Laura always kind, professional, and welcoming. They make every visit a pleasant experience. The receptionist was professional over the phone and helped me with my insurance coverage/costs before I committed to coming here. Michael was the therapist who treated me for the issue I was having. He is very patient and knowledgeable, he listens to your concerns, encourages you to do the exercises he shows you at home to have better results and quicker recovery. Every single person here has been so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Step Ahead to everyone who is looking for a physical therapist.

Melissa called back after a short period of time and did everything she could to accommodate me. She called back with a proposed schedule and it seemed that she had created early morning timeslots for me. Unfortunately Cox does not take my insurance so in the end I did find someone who did. He sent me home with a few exercises that felt very generic and not specific to my injury. I will say for Bay Therapy that the man at the reception desk is lovely. I've since tried another PT office and have been really happy with the quality of care there. My homework feels like it's targeting specific injuries.
