I can't speak to what it's like to actually be a patient because the call-center does not have the information that I need. They referred me to the front desk at the office who doesn't return calls. I had an appointment scheduled, but was told after three weeks by someone in a call center somewhere, who admitted she wouldn't have the most accurate information, that they only work on the back and not other areas of pain. I was referred by my spine doctor, but he knows that my whole body is in pain so he wouldn't have referred me to someone just for the back. If you do manage to get through to the office, they don't answer the phones. It just rings and rings and goes to voicemail. I've read through many of the reviews on here, and that seems to be the general consensus. As someone who worked in a medical office at the front desk, I know that if they are not answering the phones and reflecting good customer service, that gives me a bad feeling about what my experience will be once I get there which at this point maybe never because I am not booking an appointment until I know if he treats my issues. The fact that I can't get an answer like that from the people at the call center, reflects poorly on the company. read more

The doctor who operated me for my low back stenosis sent me to CSPP for a epidural injection. First came assistant nerse to evaluete my condition, is took almoust 2 hours to reach dr Ajakwe, and then they told me we going to do nerve cord stimulation, well I don't know to much for this and they explain me like I am at auto mechanic shop and I have fix my car. Dr Ajakwe didn;t even look at MRI imiges which i bring. I made my own research and decide not to do, because this is permanent and sometimes can causes problems like infection which is very dangerous. Otherwise the staff is friendly. read more

The worst! These guys are borderline criminal and definitely fraudsters. I was referred here after a pretty bad accident in a lot of pain. Trying to get an appointment was bizarre and frustrating as I couldn't reach a person and left over a dozen messages before someone called me back over a week later - who couldn't have been less pleasant. After I saw a PA and the Dr for 30 seconds it was determined I needed epidurals to help the pain (I would have done anything because it was so debilitating) and told me someone would contact me. Six weeks later I got a call to finally schedule something. A few days before the epidural I received a call from someone on staff to go inform me that I wouldn't be able to drive myself home and would need a ride (and it couldn't be Uber), not to eat or drink the night before, and other instructions that are usually reserved for people having surgery. Odd I thought. I asked why all this was necessary since I was getting a shot and they told me it was because they use anesthesia to put us to sleep before the procedure. Before giving me a shot?! I've had epidurals before, and never with anesthesia. I told the person I didn't want anesthesia and was content to simply have a local anesthetic which had always worked fine in the past. I was told this was the policy and I wouldn't be able to have it otherwise. I relented because I was so desperate for relief. When I told my attorney that you have to go under with anesthesia or you can't get the injection he was shocked. When I asked my regular Dr if this was normal he said "definitely not". When I asked a good friend who's also a physician the answer was also that it's excessive but he's probably doing it to get more money. Now it made sense. These doctors perform unnecessary and risky medical procedures in order to get more money. Shame on them. I was able to find another pain management doctor to help me who knew about these guys and said it's not ethical. I was able to get help without needlessly being put under anesthesia. I've also initiated a complaint with the State Medical Board and CA Dept of Insurance and the CA Attorney General's Office. read more

In May of 2025 I was hospitalized for 3 days due to my back spasms (spinal fracture back in 2007) and while in the hospital one of Dr. Ajakwe's NP's was brought in for a consultation. We discussed some options and when I was released, I made an appointment and when I went in, I met with another one of his NP's that said those previous options I discussed wouldn't work for me and she suggested an ablation procedure that would last 6-8 months. It didn't seem as good as the previous option, but if the more invasive one wouldn't help my situation, of course I didn't want to do it. She asked if I was ok on the pain meds I had, but I was almost out and I told her I would like to have some on reserve to which she said ok. She followed up with saying that due to new laws they need would need to do a drug test to make sure I'm not on other narcotics. As I know I'm not, I thought fine, they'll just run a quick test strip, NBD...She didn't send in a norco prescription to my pharmacy. Never followed up with them so I got another opinion from a different Dr. and I decided to do the ablation with them. A couple months later, I get a bill from "Lab Corp" for $50 after my insurance was billed $735!! This is not what I consented to and there's no way in hell that I am paying this when I know I'm not using drugs! You want to know they you pay for the damn thing! What the hell are they testing for that cost $735? I could buy a $10 test kit on Amazon that test's for just about everything! read more

The Nurse Practitioner and Office Manager at this practice are the worst and most dysfunctional, unorganized, and uncaring folks I have ever met. The nurse practitioner on staff misdiagnosed me and the doctor and him had an argument in front of me!!! This is totally unprofessional. At the same time, I forgot my wallet at the office and when I knocked on the door the office manger said..."sorry, we're closed for lunch, please come back" This place is absolutely a circus! If your insurance group is IPA of California, you'll need to find another pain clinic. This practice is no longer affiliated with IPA/C, effective 9/13/2023. Services to those of us who have no other choice than IPA/C have already been cast aside, it seems. I had an appointment scheduled today with Victoria, Dr. Ajakwe's PA -- first, the office called to convert the appointment to telemed (phone), which was fine. Then, I was called much earlier than the appointment time. I called back promptly and was told Victoria would be calling me, but I waited and -- you guessed it! -- no phone call. This is unacceptable. If a practice is not going to renew with an insurance company, that's their prerogative, but at least provide services to the patients UNTIL your contract expiration date. Otherwise, it reeks of being DUMPED. read more

My back pain started in 2022.I couldn't walk down the 2 flights of stairs at our house. I could only do them 1 foot at a time.Then I couldn't sit on any of our furniture because I would get up hunched over.The same with driving, sleeping and walking. If I walk over 2 miles, I could straighten up and the more I walked, the pain would go away. By the summer of 2024, I as taking 12-14 Motrin a day and icing my back. I asked my internist for help and he sent me to a back surgeon who took x-rays and a MRI. He couldn't believe that I could walk and said I was beyond shots and therapy and needed an operation. Another Dr I know said when it comes to back surgery seek another opinion. He recommended another surgeon who I saw and said "lets try shots before surgery". I'm so grateful that he recommended this place and Dr. Tatevossian. When I called and told them that I have pain 10+ all the time, their wonderful office squeezed me in to see the Dr and his team if I wouldn't mind driving to Glendale. I drove there and they examined me. They said that they could treat me and 2 wks later I had an appt at their Burbank office. After the 1st round of shots, I could sit on any piece of furniture. I could do anything without back pain and didn't need any pain pills. Dr Tatevossin is great!!! It's been 2 months since the appt. I have been experiencing some inconsistent pain 3+ that comes and goes with certain activities. I will be making an appt around the 3 month time for another round of shots.These shots work and I rather get them than have back surgery. It's a miracle! I've had lower back pain for over a decade. I've been to two surgeons who recommended back fusion. Dr. Ajakwe provided his expert opinion, suggested epidural shot and aspirating the cyst on my spine. After 3 series, I went from 80% pain to 10% pain!! I give the doctors and level of care at this place 5 stars but the receptionist and phone organization 1 star because they never call you back despite claiming that they will. I had a couple of appointments with them that went great, one an initial consult and they referred me out to get an MRI. The doctor was super nice and understanding and great at explaining his diagnoses. Then once they got the MRI results they scheduled an appointment with me to go over my options. They presented 3 procedures to me and said I could pick which one I think would be most helpful. They asked if I wanted to schedule the procedure at the office but I told them I would call them back when I decided which was a big mistake. Every single time I call I either get transferred to voicemail or passed around from agent to agent. The one time an agent told me they would check with my insurance if the procedure was covered, they claimed they would call me around Wednesday. Of course they never did and I had to call back AGAIN and got passed around to another agent who couldn't answer the phone and I left ANOTHER message It seems like I need to call them every day or go in person to make an appointment to get their attention. read more

Thoughtful providers, kind staff, and clean clinics! I bring my grandma here for her back pain and she is very happy with the progress she's been making. She's had back pain for years now and nothing was helping until we brought her to CSPP. The physicians are undoubtedly the best in their specialty it's no wonder they're so busy! They always listen to their patients concerns and explain things in layman's terms. My grandma had a few injection procedures all of which went without a hitch. She said her physician Dr. Tatevossian has a very gentle touch during procedures and she rarely feels pain or discomfort, and this is coming from someone who hates needles. I have been coming to this place since 2015 or 2016, they are wonderful! However, the amount of primary care physicians I had to go through in the last 8 years, is amazing, just to get treated by Dr. Ajakwe, and/or the nurse practitioners in that office. I was seen here today (1-11-2021) at 2p. I saw the doctor's assistant, the nurse practitioner (Daniel?) and then Dr. Tatevossian and lastly, Haik. They were VERY thorough examining ME and my MRI images. Each interviewing me and confirming my symptoms. Everyone was very nice and very informative and very helpful. I was even told "don't worry about the insurance, let US deal with that". I had thought of one last question and they even came back in the room to show me a photo so that I could understand exactly where my injury is. All questions answered and while I'm anxious about my injury I felt a bit more calm about it after being seen here. read more

I definitely would not recommend this business to anyone. I actually like my pain MD (doctor Ajakwe and NP Victoria). The issues I have are with the office staff both in Glendale and Burbank. They are not responsive when patients need something. Always transfer calls to people who never pick up. You leave a voicemail no one returns. You ask for help in completing disability forms they take forever getting them completed and they Charge a ridiculous amount of money. First, they charged me $300.00 for both EDD and work leave of absence forms. Each was $150.00. Then, When my leave got extended, I asked for them to complete leave of absence forms (4 pages) they asked for $250 almost 2 times the amount from before. I am on disability, how they think patients can afford such ridiculous amounts of money is beyond me. This office is a money making business that can care less about their patients. I work for a medical group and pain management was one of my specialties. I was referring patients to them as a nurse case manager BUT now that I know how they operate and treat patients, am never going to refer patients to them anymore. read more

I am writing this based on my initial/introductory conversation with Elfie/Elsie, NOT about the doctors or the service they specifically provide. I have been dealing with chronic back pain for years and I was told to see a pain management specialist and Comprehensive Spine and Pain Physicians seemed to be a good place to start. I left a message requesting an appointment and they were kind enough to call me back and leave a message the very next day. I called them back and Elfie/Elsie asked what they can do to help. I began to explain that I've had chronic back pain for over 5 years and was working with my primary doctor to see what would help but so far it's been unsuccessful. Within 20 seconds of answering her question (what can we do to help?) she cuts me off and said "What sort of insurance do you have?" I told her the name and my plan and she said "sorry we don't take that insurance." I said okay well does that mean I can't be seen? She responded "We do take your insurance but not the plan you're on." I replied that I understood that and said "So does that mean you cannot help me or see me? I can't even get an initial meet with the doctor?" She said no not with your insurance plan. I said "So if I walked in and wanted to pay with a card or cash you still wouldn't see me because of my insurance that you don't accept?" She said "Oh yes you can pay cash that's fine." I asked what the initial meet would cost and she provided the info. Then I thanked her and hung up. I was surprised and taken aback when i was in the middle of answering her initial question and she didn't even let me answer her without first seeing how much insurance money I was worth to them. I'm not naive when it comes to how some business make their money, but the curt and dismissive way I was spoken to right off the bat, was a red flag that said I wouldn't go to them even if they did take my insurance plan. I am currently employed as an essential employee so the stress and long work hours have only exasperated my condition. That said, if I needed to pay cash or use a card for their services i absolutely could and would if the chronic pain could be managed or reversed completely! Living with this sort of pain is crippling and it would be worth it to pay someone for their help! I'm sure others will disagree with this review but there are other pain management doctors that will ensure their first impression employees, genuinely care about potential and current patients rather than seeing how much money they can bring in. read more

His concern for my health and the opioid crisis would come into play if he ever came back to see me and didn't stay in his ivory tower. He could have also looked back at my history and the fact that I don't regularly take pain pills of any kind. If he cared, he'd offered assistance to me and discussed a treatment plan. However, that's not what he did. It would be fantastic to know what he prescribes for his patients that have osteomyelitis. That being said, when other doctors and nurses are telling him the pain that I was in, that I had to use a bedpan because I couldn't walk, he might have ascertained that I wasn't lying or making false claims just to get medication. read more

I am thankful for their careful and thoughtful approach to pain management. I'm so frustrated with this office! Their communication is absolutely horrible. I've been waiting over 4 weeks now to get my MRI results. I have now called 3 times (one I had to leave a voicemail, no call back) and still cannot get through to them. I'm being told I'll get a call back, but here I am nearly 5 weeks later with no return phone call. Every time I call, the lady I need to speak with is either on her lunch or out of office. I hope this review may help someone receive the adequate help they need with their own chronic pain journey. My journey has had a lot of ups and downs. I initially hurt my lower back, tailbone (L5 S1, I believe) over 5 years ago and have been coping ever since. This process was only made better with the quality of care I received from Dr. Ajakwe and his staff, (particularly Cheyanne). I have gone through so many procedures and injections, including physical therapy at this point. It was painful, stressful and immensely difficult to be patient for results, but when they came, they were such a relief, that I began feeling hopeful again. Dr. Ajakwe's dedication and commitment to lessening both the mental and physical toll chronic pain can have on any given person is impeccable. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be his patient and continue on in hopes of having a less painstaking, sedentary life. He explores, probes, evaluates, inquiries and re-evaluates all avenues in in order to provide you with the best, adequate and most effective treatment. I appreciate his willingness to sometimes go back to the drawing board, reconfigure what else could potentially be happening with areas that he not only specializes in but is passionate about. I feel his absolute authentic and insightful approach has also brightened my own outlook on my situation. I have seen this office flourish in recent years; I know he has taken on so many new patients and yet he remains as humble and intrigued about your particular ailing aches just the same. I'm ONLY speaking about their billing function. MONTHS ago their billing service sent a second bill, which I also paid by contacting the billing service and giving my credit card info. Both times I talked to an actual person. A little later I noticed that I had paid the exact same bill twice. I have contacted the billing service several times (difficult -- they don't answer the phone most of the time and apparently ignore messages), as well as the medical office (apparently their office manager isn't there most of the time). This is ridiculous. It's under $300, but it's MY money, not theirs. I've never experienced such awful customer service in my entire life. It shouldn't be necessary to sue in small claims court. I'm going to try a few more times before that, but it's a more viable option now. read more
