Doctor Demerjian is an absolute lifesaver and a magician! I came to him for difficulties with TMJ, especially very severe clenching all day at night. Regular mouthguards didn't do anything for me because I just clenched into them. I was in so much pain. Using technology, he developed at UCLA, He created two mouthguards for me to offload the pressure and train my jaw not to clench both day and night. I cannot believe the difference! My head, neck and jaw pain has drastically been reduced, and I am finally not clenching as much anymore. My understanding is some other dentists create devices that shift your teeth and you end up having to get braces. With the treatments, Dr. Demerjian offers it does not impact your teeth and you do not need braces. He is so intelligent and attentive! A few months ago, I started seeing Dr. Demerjian based off a recommendation from my dentist. The left side of my jaw was closing slower than the right, while I had been experiencing (for years) head, neck, and shoulder pain. My dentist reasoned I had TMJ but needed a formal diagnosis. Not only did Dr. Demerjian help me understand my eventual TMJ diagnosis, he walked me through every step of the way for treatment. Unfortunately this TMJ treatment didn't work for me after paying $3900 for the appliance and year of appointments. Seems like you have to keep going forever and it costs a lot. Insurance won't cover anything except X-Rays. Also, my mouthpiece has degraded in the two years I've had it. It's wearing badly and little chips fall off. My jaw still clicks and pops terribly, and gets frozen after dental work -- even with a bite insert to hold my mouth open. Really nice doctor and office. I hope this works for other people, but maybe my case is too severe to be remedied without constant appointments. Or at all! read more

I went to see Dr. Gary Demerjian for TMJ disorder. Unfortunately my experience with Dr. Demerjian was extremely negative. During my first consultation doctor seemed very knowledgeable, professional and assured me that he will help me. I left very happy and full of high hopes! Well, I should have paid a better attention to the RED Flags! In order to be treated for TMJ by Dr. Demerjian you have to pay thousands of dollars upfront. I was really surprised by this kind of "payment option" , but when you are dealing with TMJ pain you would 't even think about expenses . Well, don't be like me! Think twice! Real doctors who know how to treat your problem will never ask for the whole amount of treatment during your first appointment . They will let you do monthly payments , for example $400-500 every month. And let me assure you , if the treatment will help , you will gladly make those monthly payments. I'm writing this because I found a real specialist who helped my problem, it was an instant relief and I was making MONTHLY payments , nobody pressured me into buying anything. I will not mention my new doctors name here so that this review doesn't look like it's written by a competitor . Just want you to know that real and honest doctors do exist. Just not at this practice. Honestly, I wouldn't even think about money if his "treatment" would help. Unfortunately his appliance never helped , and it was not supposed to help since the doctor has no idea what he is doing with TMJ. He is sort of "playing by the ear" asking questions during your every appointment . For example "where do you have pain today"? I say "on the right side of my face". He then proceeds to massage the right side of the face! What a total joke! My condition has gotten worse , I came with TMJ problem on one side and left practice with problems on both sides. I had disabling jaw pain from TMJ disorder at the beginning of the year due to some dental work the previous summer. The left side of my jaw was constantly clicking, cracking and popping out of place and I had severe headaches and dizziness to the point where I was unable to function day-to-day. I literally struggled to get out of bed most mornings. Dr. Demerjian was recommended to me by a friend and, after meeting him the first time, I knew he would be able to solve the problem when many other people had been unable to. He took x-rays and made some orthopedics for me to wear both during the day and at night. The orthopedics allowed me to function and I was able to gradually start getting my life back together again. Six months later I am now in the process of weaning off of the daytime orthopedic and I have no jaw pain, clicking, cracking, popping, etc. He and his staff have gone above and beyond to assist me and keep the treatment going during the COVID situation this year and I can't say enough good things about all of them. I was referred to Dr. Demerjian by one of his previous patients. I had over a year of facial TMJ pain and burning from bone on bone grinding in the jaw from displaced discs. Dr. Demerjian made me a splint that slightly pushed my lower jaw forward to stop the painful grinding and burning that I was experiencing. Over about a 4 month period of wearing the splint, I gradually noticed myself getting better and better. Dr. Demerjian is a very caring dentist that really wants to help his patients. Truly a wonder. Was a bit skeptical at first, but am glad to have gone through with it. Dr. Demerjian is the best in the field. Very profession, thorough and actually listens to your problems and has different solutions based on what is going on with you. It wasn't about pushing the cookie cutter appliance on you, but rather creating a custom plan addressing your concerns. That's the main thing I look for and a lot of physicians don't realize that. Jaw popped out of whack several years ago and became an ongoing problem. By the time I saw Dr Demerjian I'd already seen three other dentists who did TMJ work. One said I'd "more than likely" need surgery. I've been under Dr Demerjian's care for about a month now. I can now open my mouth normally. My review is based on 32 yrs.experience as a P.T. assistant. Since I retired, my neck muscle spasms, Headaches, clenching, upper and lower back pain, decreased posture and tenderness in the upper spinal and jaw muscles had increased to 9-10. My hands were falling asleep and severly painful at night. My M.D. referred me to a neurologist, who immediately wanted to fuse my neck. I sought a second opinion, and the 2nd neuro. said I had carpal tunnel. Meantime, I talked to my DDS, Dr. Melinah Arakelian and she referred me to Dr. Demerjian, who did a thorough neck and jaw exam. I had severe overbite and my old orthotic partial was no longer supportive, due to aging and dental changes. Dr. Demerjian worked out a plan and put me in corrective orthotics.
