Personally, I found that the only plans that cover infertility treatment are corporate, not even the highest level PPO. The staff has been extremely responsive on the app and on the phone, the nurses and ultrasound technicians are amazing and for someone who had zero expectations or knowledge of the IVF process they made me feel extremely comfortable and like I was in safe hands. I am still in the midst of my journey with Dr. Surrey, but I am super happy with my decision. Fertility is such a personal, vulnerable and fragile experience and it's really important to me to have a team that goes above and beyond to make my journey as smooth and successful as possible. As most women do, I HATE blood draws and ultrasounds and I always leave the office smiling because the team there is so warm and uplifting. It's a scary journey, but I have felt so supported throughout.

On both occasions, both the doctors office and I have repeatedly called for two weeks straight only to get no response from SCRC. They always say "oh we'll send them today" and then they never follow through. Their refusal to send MY medical records has caused huge delays in my medical care. Given the many many thousands of dollars I paid for poor care, the absolute LEAST they could do is send medical records in a timely manner.

SIMPLY THE BEST. the journey through fertility is daunting…read moreand very emotional. Dr. Alexander walks you through it with her expertise. She has a calm, collected and "matter of fact" approach. You can see her think a million miles a minute, adjusting protocols to individualize your care, which I appreciated soo much because she doesn't just look at you as a number, but takes your case as a whole and gIves it serious thought. After 1.5years of trying to get pregnant and failing at it (who thought it would be so hard?) , I contacted Dr Alexander. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility, possibly silent endometriosis. Her team is very responsive, always responding to my phone calls/emails. the clinic is open at 7 AM which allowed me to get in before work for my appts, making the whole experience less stressful. For my own piece of mind, I went to 2 other clinics for a second opinion, but I circled right back to Dr. Alexander for a number of reasons; mainly because she's thorough, up-to-date on all things relating to fertility and she works at a huge facility that has a state of the art embryology lab (which is very important! If you do IVF). lastly and perhaps most importantly, she got me pregnant with just one round of IVF. I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant while I write this review. I couldn't recommend her/ her team/ or scrc enough. They are truly the Ferrari of fertility clinics in LA.

Dr. Aliabadi is hands-down the best doctor we have ever met with…read more Our daughter has been through hell and seemingly hundreds of doctors, specialists, and treatments. Being told "there's nothing else you can do," "it's all in your head," and "you'll just have to learn to live with the pain." We've been through multiple surgeries, diets, medicines (daily shots included), BiPAP machines, therapists, neurologists, psychologists, and the list goes on. Dr. Aliabadi gave our daughter something she hadn't had in years: HOPE. Hope that she'll have less pain, closer-to-normal body functions, fewer stares from strangers with her skin issues, and hope of a chance to live a life without being in constant pain. My wife and I were in tears at her excitement and optimism and at the prospect of a treatment program that could change her life despite nearly being convinced that no such thing existed. Dr. Aliabadi took the time to get to know her on a level no other doctor or physician has ever taken the time to do. She handled all the testing in-house rather than being referred out to other testing facilities and back and forth with labs that often lose our records. She also referred her to someone who may be able to assist with her neurological challenges, literally texting the other doctor during the consultation. She's made an incredible difference in our daughter's life and in our family's. We are beyond grateful for Dr. Aliabadi's expertise and for giving us hope.

***THIS IS A LONG OVERDUE REVIEW of Dr. Catherine DeUgarte & PFCLA. Gosh, where do we begin. In or…read moreabout March, 2020 to June, 2022, we attempted at conceiving naturally but to no avail. We discovered that one of her tubes were blocked and a few polyps needed to be surgically removed. In or about June 2022, it dawned on me that IVF was a viable option (mind you, I've never considered IVF prior to this and possibly even had subconscious bias towards it). With the new epiphany, came the relentless due diligence on Yelp, Google and the internet at large. We narrowed down the potential doctors / clinics to: 1) Dr. Wendy Chang of SCRC (Southern CA Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills) and 2) Dr. Catherine DeUgarte of CMD Fertility. (NOTE: PFCLA was not on our list at this juncture because Dr. Catherine DeUgarte had her own practice at CMD Fertility and had not yet merged with PFCLA). We ultimately took a leap of faith and went with Dr. Wendy Chang of SCRC - and our experience was disastrous. The final IVF result was an abject failure. Throughout the entire IVF process, interactions with Dr. Wendy Chang of SCRC v. our subsequent interactions with Dr. Catherine DeUgarte of PFCLA were literally night and day. Since this Yelp review is not intended to be a scathing repudiation of Dr. Wendy Chang & SCRC, I will refrain from delving into the specificities. The aforementioned account is predicated solely on our personal experience with Dr. Wendy Chang & SCRC, so it's advisable to conduct your own due diligence. After our disastrous experience with Dr. Wendy Chang & SCRC, the process of which consummated in or about December, 2022, we were disheartened, dejected, reeling and livid all at the same time, so we decided to implement a hiatus and respite from IVF altogether. Lo and behold, in January, 2023, we proceeded with the unthinkable - we began choosing an egg donor and surrogate via HATCH (an affiliate of PFCLA). We executed a contract and paid all fees up-front in order to secure a spot on the surrogate waitlist, while we began searching for an egg donor. Talk about desperation on our part. The silver lining, however, was Greg Wiles, the President of HATCH, who was phenomenal during the many telephone conferences and email exchanges. Greg was such a breath of fresh air as he patiently walked us through the entire egg donation / surrogacy process. I truly appreciate him. In or about March, 2023, we miraculously rekindled our spirits and decided to give IVF another chance. Mind you, we were then [concurrently] proceeding with both IVF and Egg Donation / Surrogacy pathways - no one has ever heard of such a concurrent process. Then came Yelping and Googling all over again for an IVF doctor / clinic. Our due diligence this time around resulted in 1 clear choice: Dr. Catherine DeUgarte of PFCLA (Note: Dr. Catherine DeUgarte of CMD Fertility merged with PFCLA in 2023). Dr. Catherine DeUgarte is literally GODSENT. After thoroughly reviewing our prior IVF case files from SCRC, Dr. Catherine DeUgarte was genuinely confident and optimistic. We trusted her through the process and she exceeded our expectations 100x over. We netted 6 healthy embryos ( "Zero" with Dr. Wendy Chang of SCRC). Go figure. Fast forward to March 28th, 2024 - OUR SON WAS BORN. ***You may take this review with a grain of salt and conduct your own due diligence. As a seasoned lawyer, however, I perform in-depth due diligence vis-à-vis any and all major decisions I make in my personal life, with the unparalleled meticulousness that you will rarely see in any individual. I want to thank PFCLA and in particular, Dr. Catherine DeUgarte. Catherine, we just want you to know that the countless hours you invest in your patients; the incredibly genuine and caring personal attention you confer to your patients; your steadfastness in providing your cell phone number to your patients; your deliberate decision to take on only a limited number of patients per year in order retain quality over quantity; and of course, your amazing clinical acumen, ARE NOT IN VAIN. Thank you Dr. DeUgarte & PFCLA.

I recently went through the egg-freezing process with Dr. Huang and his team, and I can genuinely…read moresay it was one of the most positive experiences I've had in a medical setting. Making the decision to freeze my eggs was a big deal for me. Having the ability to make choices about my reproductive future and preserve options for myself is something I don't take for granted. The entire experience was incredibly eye-opening, and I'm really grateful I had such a supportive team throughout it. Dr. Huang is an amazing physician. He's knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely supportive of his patients' decisions. What I appreciated most was that he always made me feel included in my care. He took the time to listen, answer my questions, and make sure I understood what was happening. I know he sees a lot of patients, but somehow he manages to make you feel like you're the only one he's caring for. I especially want to recognize Nathalie, who was absolutely wonderful throughout my cycle. She's incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about what she does. She has a way of explaining things that makes everything feel less overwhelming and much easier to understand. She's warm, friendly, and just really good at what she does. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and I appreciated how approachable she was. And a special shoutout to Lily, my ultrasound tech, who is seriously the sweetest. She has such a kind heart and always made me feel comfortable and safe. She took her time during my ultrasounds, which I really appreciated. By the end of my cycle, I actually understood so much more about what I was seeing on the screen! When you're freezing your eggs, you're at the clinic pretty frequently. Between the monitoring appointments, bloodwork, and everything else, you get to know the people taking care of you. I never felt like I was just another appointment on the schedule. Everyone was welcoming, and there was a level of kindness and hospitality that I honestly haven't experienced at many other medical offices. I also want to give credit to the nurses, clinical team, and front desk staff because they really do work hard. One thing I wasn't expecting from this experience was how much I would notice what goes on around me in the waiting room. On a few occasions, I witnessed patients being pretty rude to the front desk staff, particularly when there were longer wait times. And while I completely understand how frustrating waiting can be, especially when you're already dealing with the emotional and physical demands of fertility treatment, I think it's important to remember that the staff are people too. There are a lot of moving parts in a fertility clinic, and we're not the only patients being seen that day. Everyone has their own circumstances, and I think a little patience and understanding can go a long way. From what I personally witnessed, these people are working hard and doing their best to care for everyone. I don't say any of this to dismiss anyone else's experience, but I do think it's worth acknowledging the people behind the scenes who are often dealing with a lot more than we realize. Overall, my egg-freezing experience was so much more than I expected. I learned a lot, felt supported in my decisions, and walked away feeling really good about the care I received. Dr. Huang, Nathalie, Lily, and the entire team, thank you. I appreciate the time, patience, and care you put into what you do. It really does make a difference, and I hope you know that your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. I would absolutely recommend this team to anyone considering fertility preservation or treatment.

Minimal interaction with doctor, delayed appointments, failed IVF protocol, no bloodwork during…read morestimulation, missed ovulation, and concerns about incorrect IUI timing. I was debating whether to leave a review, but after reading others on Google and Yelp, I feel compelled to share my experience. I chose RPMG because I really liked Dr. Huang during our initial consultation and expected attentive, personalized care. Unfortunately, my treatment was managed almost entirely by nurses, with very limited interaction with my doctor. I'm 40, have endometriosis, and have experienced multiple pregnancy losses. We pursued IVF not because I couldn't get pregnant, but to genetically test embryos before transfer and hopefully avoid another heartbreaking loss. I'd previously had an unsuccessful IVF cycle elsewhere, but the care was excellent, so I know the difference a supportive, communicative team can make. At RPMG, none of my monitoring ultrasounds or the IUI were performed by Dr. Huang or in his presence. Appointments ran late, yet ultrasounds felt rushed, followed by another wait to speak with a nurse. Calls were rarely answered, portal responses weren't always timely, and medication instructions could have been clearer. I had no hormone bloodwork during ovarian stimulation. My progesterone was last measured on 09/23. I started IVF medications on 10/01 (CD 3), and had no further bloodwork. Monitoring consisted exclusively of ultrasounds, with no protocol adjustments despite uneven follicular growth. The clinic eventually recommended converting IVF to IUI, meaning we'd would not genetically test our embryos--the whole reason we pursued IVF. We agreed to avoid losing the cycle. On Friday, 10/09, my 3 largest follicles measured about 14 mm. I specifically expressed concern that I might ovulate over the weekend, before my Monday appointment. I was reassured everything would be fine. The plan was to trigger Monday and perform IUI Wednesday. My husband had also been told to ejaculate Sunday evening and abstain until Wednesday. When I returned on 10/12, I had already ovulated. Since I wasn't properly monitored over the weekend and hadn't taken a trigger, we had no way of knowing precisely when ovulation occurred. With the IUI moved to Monday, he'd ejaculated the previous night as instructed, leaving a much shorter abstinence interval than planned. My ultrasound was at 9:15 am, my husband rushed in to provide a sample at 11am, and the IUI happened after 1pm. The IUI was performed by a nurse practitioner without Dr. Huang present. Afterward, I waited over 30 minutes to ask about the semen sample, was promised a callback that never came, and was simply told to take a pregnancy test in 2 weeks. IUI is typically timed around ovulation, often 24-36 hours after a trigger injection, so sperm are present when the egg is released. The clinics original plan is consistent with this. Delays after ovulation may reduce success rates, which are already low at 40. I was concerned that we might have missed the optimal window. I was reassured that the timing was fine, but how could they be certain when we didn't know whether I had ovulated on Saturday, Sunday, overnight, or Monday morning? Why wasn't any bloodwork performed? At my prior clinic, I was routinely monitored throughout the cycle and changes to the medication were timely made. I can't help but wonder whether the holiday weekend affected my monitoring and care. Despite the medically recommended conversion, I was told an IVF cancellation fee would apply and the ultrasounds would no longer be covered by our package. Everything happened so quickly Monday that I signed consent without receiving an IUI cost estimate or explanation of what was included. When I asked about our refund and an itemized statement, I was told it would take at least a week, with no indication of when we'd receive our refund. Fertility treatment is emotionally, physically, and financially demanding, and I expected better. Please research clinics carefully. I certainly didn't take the negative reviews seriously enough.
