Rather than rushing me toward an invasive procedure, they took the time to truly listen to my goals. As someone who wanted to get back to an active lifestyle and back on the ocean as safely as possible, they carefully explained every detail of my ultrasound scans, the specific damage to my knee, and all of the available treatment options. I do give her something to relax before, because it is quite a few injections in her neck (C spine) the problem area. She has hypermobility and no curve in her neck, and is 22 years old. The office staff and assistants are courteous and there's even a little cafe inside the building which is nice. After careful review Dr. Melikian recommended a microdiscectomy which ended up being the best decision for my back. My only gripe, generally speaking--not specific to his practice--is that stem cell treatments are exorbitantly priced and not covered by insurance. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $9,000 or more for various stem cell treatment options. So, not a go just yet until I figure out how to come up with the money, I will have to live with my back pain.

Prior to that appointment, I was in PT for 2 months which only made the pain worse and then received an epidural shot from a pain physician. The epidural shot wore off after 6 weeks and the pain came back in mid-March 2026 worse and persistent. I made the decision to get a microdiscectomy and got it done on April 21, 2026. Dr. Lee and his office is very professional. He takes his time and answers every question I had about the surgery, recovery, and anything I could think about. He never rushes me out the door and spends the time talking through everything with me. He called for two days after the surgery, and his team was able to answer any questions via phone I had. Dr. Lee has been a resource at several milestone appointments: 2 weeks post op, 6 weeks post op, and 4 months post op. He also gave me a great recommendation for the PT required after my 6 weeks of recovery. Two things I would like to point out is the hospital nurses all had great things to say about him the day of the surgery and kept telling me I was in good hands. The OR nurse even told me she's consulting with him about her pain. The PT office I selected based on Dr. Lee's recommendation has also been great. At my first appointment with them during the physical exam, based on my physical responses to the exam, they told me I had a great surgeon who worked on me, and I was in great shape just 6 weeks after the surgery. I know a full recovery can take up to a year so I am still in recovery and doing PT (more for my sanity) as I had a large herniated disc, but I am no longer in pain and feel like my prior self 95% of the time. I also called Dr. Lee's office and spoke his female staff members - twice - to alert them of the disc being sent and the need for someone's signature. I was brushed off and ignored. I few days later, I get a bill for the office visit. Long story short, my disc sat at the USPS in Glendale until it was returned to me by USPS as no one went into the USPS to sign for the disc. A female staffer calls me to ask if I had received their bill, to which I told her I had. She tells me to ignore it because they filed the claim wrong!?!? I would not recommend anyone going here.

I write this in my…read morethird month of recovery from the PAO and arthroscopy surgery: I am relatively young, in my early twenties, and never had surgery in my life, so the idea of getting TWO surgeries (Arthroscopy and PAO) was very scary. I also had another issue where I could not accept blood transfusions of any kind. That also added to my level of fear and distress. The idea of a minimally invasive PAO is not something I had heard of before and was very anxious. However, Dr. Garabekyan was SO patient in answering every question I had. His assistant Susie was also amazing and gave us anything we needed. When in the hospital, he frequently visited and called to make sure that I was okay. As expected, my hemoglobin did drop, but thanks to the salvage saving method used, I never had any critical blood loss/feel the side effects of anemia. I felt very, very minimal pain. The medication prescribed was perfect. The "hard" part was the period of 1-2 weeks after leaving the hospital, as sleeping was very difficult due to being a side sleeper. Dr. Garabekyan's advice (using many small pillows to relieve pressure) will helped getting through the night a lot easier. Another thing that amazed me is that he would answer our questions even on his vacation time. His recovery process was VERY well detailed, and we never needed to guess on what methods of recovery he wanted us to do. I have been to many hip doctors at Cedar Sinai and other hospitals, and I've never had a doctor as caring and patient as Dr. Garabekyan. Choosing him to do the surgery was the best decision I could make and I'm so thankful to his excellent communication skills, and of course his incredibly awesome assistant, Susie! :)

My imaging was uploaded at check-in, and I was repeatedly told the doctor would see me shortly. I then waited 2 hours and 45 minutes without ever being seen by Dr. Andrew Yun. During that time, I was moved from room to room and repeatedly told he would be in "in a few minutes." Only after nearly three hours did the office manager tell me that Dr. Yun would not see me without the imaging reports--the very reports their written instructions said were not required. Why was this not communicated when I checked in? Why was I allowed to sit there for nearly three hours before anyone mentioned it? The staff was dismissive, rude, disorganized, and remarkably unprofessional. What was equally disappointing was that Dr. Yun walked by during this ordeal but never came in to address the situation or even briefly speak with me. I ultimately left after wasting nearly three hours without receiving any medical care whatsoever. A deeply frustrating experience and an astonishing lack of respect for a patient.
