An employee mentioned that this was the biggest Lids store in the country. Tons of jerseys everywhere you look with two stories. They had every cinematic jersey, from Jackie Moon to Bobby Boucher. I happened to notice that some jerseys had signatures in the number, so I asked a guy, and he said they can do that to any jersey for just $16. I very luckily happened to be wearing my Mets jersey walking around Pier 39, and I got it back 20 minutes later with Lindor's signature stitched into it. It was 92 degrees in San Francisco yesterday, and I had to buy a baseball cap for my wife because she was melting before my very eyes. We were treated very well by Semmie and Jeffrey. They both helped her at the same time, and Semmie even gave her paper towels to wipe the sweat from her forehead. They were both very patience with her. read more

Not actually open at 10. I was just there from 10-10:30 and no one showed up so I figured I'd wait til the afternoon to pick up my hat I had customized. The employees working at this Lids store were so unprofessional. It was almost as if they were professionals at being unprofessional. Don't they interview these young cats before handing them the job? Maybe. If the manager of this store did conduct an interview, this is probably how it went down. -- Manager: What would you say is one of your strengths? Candidate: I am really good at concentrating. In fact, if I'm concentrating on the instagram feed of my phone, I can effectively ignore all requests and questions of any number of customers. Manager: Impressive. What can you bring to us here at Lids? Candidate: I am determined to defy what is conventional. Convention tells us to smile at the customers, I give them the RBF. Convention tells us to say 'thank you' after the purchase, I stare 'em down. Convention tells us to be polite, and I just ain't about that life. Manager: Interesting. What makes you qualified for this position? Candidate: I watch a lot of sports and I get abrasive with players who ain't performing. I can bring that same type of negative energy to the store day in and day out. I'll treat every customer like he just hit into a double play. Manager: Say no more, you're hired. Congratulations. Candidate: Aite. -- Despite the horrible experience with the staff, Lids remains the place to go for baseball/football/basketball/hockey hats. Their prices are competitive and they're always stocked with styles and sizes. But seriously, Lids need to get their act together. What a joke. I'm not a tourist, I'm local and I know this is the heart of a tourist trap so I wanted to get lettering and a number sewn on my Giants jersey. The machine was there but he said theres a lack of staff to do just that..WHAT?? Then he forwarded me to go down the block to another Lids..didn't see it. Then I was going to buy 2 Giants baseball caps as the sign stated "buy 1 get the other 1/2 off" and the staff stated only certain caps are on that special. The sign didn't say that and I chose the caps on that particular display. Can you say false advertisement? Plus I was going to use my Lids memership card and the staff member said they are off line so no credit cards just cash and I'm not able to use my discount card..realy??!! I bought a lot of hats at this place over the years - today I walked in and was trying to find a new basecap and was asking for assistance - The first sales person BARELY answered my question - his answer if they have a certain cap was "NO" and walked away. Then my 2nd attempt : " Do you have this Giants cap in black with no strap in the back? " -NO !!!! - "I actually bought one of those at this place. ..." -ARE YOU TELLING ME OR ASKING ME IF WE SELL THIS? - WE DON'T HAVE IT! If my employees would treat my clients like this, I would fire them in a heartbeat !!!! But guess the "Fisherman's wharf" neighborhood doesn't need good customer service since most shopper's are gone the next day! What a lousy, horrible shopping experience! I wanted to make sure Semmie, the Lids employee working when we came in, knows how much we appreciated his energetic and helpful customer service. I also watched him manage waiting customers and customers on the phone (he was the only employee there). He handled all of us professionally and with a great amount of patience. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is filled with shady sales people that are negligent and lack customer service. I came here to buy a hat with embroidery. I made the order at 4:30pm on Saturday and came to pick it up at 6pm. When I arrived they had embroidered my name in the wrong place. They were supposed to embroider on the back in an arch and instead they put it on the side. They told me they could have a new one done for me within 30 minutes, but I was unable to wait so I told them I would come back in the morning at 11am. The next day I arrived at 1pm to pick up my hat and they had not embroidered a new hat for me. Unbelievable. They refused to do it right away, and they refused to give me a refund until my attorney husband pulled the lawyer card and told them they breached their agreement by not embroidering my name in the location agreed on the order sheet. They then agreed to reimburse me for the embroidery fee of $11.99 and gave me a new hat, with no name embroidered. Sigh, they suck. read more

We walked into this store on a SUNDAY in the middle of the day and the door was unlocked. Being that this is a STORE and it's the MIDDLE OF THE DAY we began to walk in. Came on a Sunday and the one employee was super helpful. Came back on a Wednesday to make an exchange and the door was locked before the posted closing time of 8pm. Employee said through the glass that they closed at 7:30pm. Confirmed with Lids customer service that they should close at 8. Pet peeve when employees close up shop early so they can leave early. read more

it was crowded and very busy but customer service wasn't an issue. while we were browsing an employee came up to us to see if we needed any help. once we made our final selections he walked us up to the register. don't be discouraged by the crowded entrance, you have a little more room to move around and browse mid shop. read more

Thank you Keturah!!! I drove into San Francisco with my two teenage boys to buy college beanies at the NFL/College Shop at Pier 39. Sadly they only carried 3 college team beanies. Such a bummer. So we walked down the wharf and stopped in Lids on the off chance they supplied such items. Keturah was embroidering a lid for another customer, but when she saw the puzzled look on my face, she asked how she could help. I said, "Well, by looking around, it does not look like you sell college knit beanies." She said, "No we don't, but I can order them for you here and have them sent to your home. If you tell me the team, I can look them up on the computer and put them on the tv overhead." Wow!!! I was so impressed with this girl! What amazing customer service in a day and age when it is so difficult to get help with the products that they even sell in their store. We waitied for her to be done with the customer she was helping, then she continued to fulfill her promise. She ordered us our 2 beanies. She was so cool, upbeat and genuinely excited she was able to help us make our trip to SF successful. YOU HAVE A GREAT ATTITUDE KETURAH, AND A WONDERFUL HEART!
