To be fair, this is the first time I've ever been to Lidl so I wasn't 100% sure of what to expect. Driving up, the facility is in a safe part of town with plenty of parking and quick access to Dorchester Rd (good luck with traffic on said road!) The outside is clean and enjoyable however the inside is a bit different. The floors could use some TLC while the shelves were sparse here and there, not fulling utilizing the space because they were out? I didn't see any employees walking around in case someone needed assistance. Inside they make the most of their space as the isles are a LOT closer that at a larger store. I think this is a good thing as it's smart. The produce was a little suspect as they appeared to be picked through the night before and was waiting for restock. Moreover, the produce was average to a smidge below average, depending on what the item was. As for the selection, it should go without saying, a smaller place yields a smaller selection. I was there to get multi-colored carrots and to walk around since this was new to me. I got one of the last two bags of carrots so it wasn't like I had a huge sample size. The bakery was hoe-hum to me. Nothing of great interest and I'm somewhat curious if they bake items on their own or have them shipped in. Regardless I wasn't interested in the selection. As for my stroll down the meat isle it seemed like the had a lot of the generic items to pick through as if they're competing with the "big blue building" that all of us know about. As for their other items, they have a plethora of oddities. Blow up field goal coolers, mobility trainers, just things I would never in a million years purchase. They do have seasonal items as well including blankets, snuggies, sports theme products and so on. However, I didn't see this carry over to specific products like Doritoes sponsored sports items. Just a small note, not that it ever mattered to me much. Overall, Lidl seems a lot like Aldi and perfectly fine for those who might be in a rush, need generic items or don't seem to need a vast selection of products. The employees here are very nice and I found most of what I needed. What they're not is a place where you need a hard-to-find item or an assortment of freshly make items. The service was terrible the girl at the checkout around 12;00pm on Wednesday the 22nd was very rude when I asked her to get another checker because she was the only one and her reply was Who I am going to get? There's only one other person in the store. What? It was busy and I was not happy with waiting and with her attitude! read more

I've been an avid Lidl shopper since visiting a location in Amsterdam. This store reminds me of European grocers, as you are encouraged to bring your own bags (otherwise, you must pay for bags) and my favorite- the bakery at the front of the store. Lidl's bakery doesn't have all the options of European grocery store bakeries, but it will do until my next international trip. The store also has a section called "The Midl of Lidl", which is similar to Aldi's "Aisle of Shame". This area has specials like home items, clothes, shoes, and holiday decor. You never know what you'll find there. You do not have to insert a quarter to "rent" the carts here, and a bonus is that they have the smaller grocery carts, which are my favorite since I'm only buying for my husband and I and not a big family. I recommend downloading the Lidl app and entering your phone number when shopping to save. Be aware that many sales at Lidl do require you to purchase a certain amount- for example, if chips are $2/5 on sale and you only want one bag, it is probably $2.99 and not $2.50 like some other stores do. Some of our favorite Lidl finds are the Tom Yum soup, the bakery baguettes, and Snack Day brand "All Dressed" potato chips. We have also had good experiences with the produce, and we pick up a different specialty cheese to try on every visit. read more

Great prices and they have an in store bakery. The only drawback is that they don't have everything that I usually need at a grocery store so I get the basic food here and then go to another store. They also don't have self checkout so the lines can get long. Overall they have great prices and the customer service is much better than at Aldi's. Store is clean and carts are always available. read more

Love the variety in German products especially around this time of the year. Love the farmer's bread and Brötchen (DinnerRolls). Pastry selection is nice too. Prices are great on most of products. Produce is always appealing. Definitely would recommend this store. I just wish we would get one closer to where I live. Unfortunately the closest one to me is 2hrs30min. read more

Another grocery store that I've recently added to my shopping spots is the brand new Lidl. I've been here once so far to really learn the layout and see what kind of grocery store it compares to. To me it's comparable to the Aldi down the road. About same size and concept minus the need for a quarter to use a cart! The first thing I learned is that you have to have their app to receive the displayed discount pricing. I thought I was getting a deal on coconut water but I had not downloaded the app yet so no discount for me!! The other thing I learned is you need to bring your own bags. I had brought my own bags so I was good there. I liked the looks of the bakery and their freezer sections. Out of no where they've got small kitchen appliances and other, what I found to be strange items taking up two or three isles in the back middle of the store. Seems like a wasted use of space to me. But I'm sure people buy the stuff!! I'll make sure to download the app and return again for more soon enough. read more

I shop at this Lidl location regularly, but I am consistently concerned by the large puddles of water on the floor near the [frozen meat section, canned goods, and paper towel row] this is before the store even opens. This is a significant slip and fall hazard for customers. It appears to be a recurring issue rather than a one-time spill. For the safety of the community and the staff, this needs to be addressed and mopped daily before the doors open to the public. I hope management takes this seriously before someone gets injured. The management at this location is equally frustrating. The managers are always "acting busy" stocking shelves and go out of their way to avoid eye contact. They don't acknowledge customers or make you feel welcome; it feels like they are afraid you might actually ask for help. It is particularly unprofessional to see a manager (hair in a small ponytail) walking around the sales floor in house shoes/sandals/Crocs. Between the safety risks on the floor and the lack of basic professional courtesy or proper footwear, this store is being poorly run. I hope corporate looks into the safety and leadership standards at this location. read more

I have been waiting for this location to open for months. There was a slight delay and now they are finally open. I frequented the location back home for years now. So, I'm not overly thrilled with the store's layout. It seems too clustered upon entering. Things just don't seem to flow as well as I'm used to with other locations. And they didn't carefully consider the checkout space. Too close to the aisles. People waiting in line blocking areas of shopping near the end. The prices are great and so is the quality of food. They carry some unique items like their sister store, Aldi. It's in a great location and parking is sufficient. Easy to get in and out. Will I continue to shop here? Most definitely and you should, too. read more

I have always been an Aldi fan but thought I'll try Lidl since there was one nearer to me in the new spot I moved too. Difference : Carts did not need a quarter to be placed in it, it had its own bakery ( although I have heard that some Aldi have bakeries). Similarity : No bags- it bring your own bags, very similar in generic brand items they sell but Lidl and more brand name stuff too. Not sure if it a holiday thing but in the charcuterie section, they were selling foie gras pate and liver pate. Bought a few to try , also quite a selection of affordable cheese. Was really impressed. I do think Aldi does have a much wider selection of bread even though it didn't have its own bakery but overall I would totally come back to Lidl Parking was very convenient, staff were helpful. Do recommend to download the Lidl app to take advantage of the coupon and promos you might get. First time using it you get &5 off grocery over $30! read more

Having shopped at Lidl in Berlin recently, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of products as well as the selection. For a company headquartered in Europe, there was a noticeable lack of German and European products. When they first opened in North Charleston they did stock these items. The Bakery is worth the trip, especially for the fresh Brotchen and other breads. Otherwise what we have is a lackadaisical grocery store in an already crowded market. They need to refocus. read more

Lidl has such an eclectic assortment of stuff, it's fun to just walk around and check everything out. This location is fairly well organized and clean, but last time we went there was stuff blocking some of the aisles - not sure if it was from stocking at some point or not, but we couldn't get by with someone else in the same aisle. Also, last time the produce wasn't in great shape, but again, maybe they hadn't received the newest shipment or something ? Otherwise, we enjoy looking for new things to try or pick up as gifts for others. read more

What a clean and beautiful new store! Great selections and inventory. Has a little bit of everything. Their bakery smells outstanding the second you walk in! They have a large produce section and everything stayed fresh a decent amount of time when we we got it! You do have to be ok with their brand and not buying the name brand products but with how expensive life is I'm fine buying stuff that is an off brand, it really tastes the same. Get their app as there are tons of rewards and discounts and you also get coupons. When I got my subtotal it was 97 and I paid 71 after all the discounts and coupons. This is now our go to store. We can shop at the commissary on base and find that lidl is better value for the dollar. Highly recommend. read more

This is the Lidl's off Dorchester rd in Sville/N Chas. First, there is very ample parking there. And it is very brightly lit inside. I loved the bakery section. Bought 2 ultra large croissants for my morning bkfast for the next 2 days. I have to say, it was delicious. Popped it in microwave for a few seconds, and it was still flaky on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Looks like they have buy 1 get 1 free1' special on different baked goods each day. I liked the layout of the store. Very easy to find things, not an overwhelming and enormous store. Prices were good. I bought a few other items that were priced at the going rate. The aisles of household /auto /personal goodies were intertesting and fun to browse. They have a huge aisle full of health and beauty products. Lots of fresh meats, breads, chocolates, cheeses and wines. It's a nice little store when you don't want to deal with the massive grocery stores. The lady at checkout told me to get the Lidl app on my phone and you get lots of great coupons, so if you go there make sure to get the app. Now I know for next time! read more
