I love shopping at Lidl, always great deals to be had.bonus points for a beautiful bakery section right as you enter the store. They always keep it clean and the staff have always been very helpful. I also love that they have self service checkout, as I usually have less than a dozen items when I'm done. The only drawbacks I would say is that there seems to be lots of downtime with some of the refrigerated and frozen sections (frozen food doors don't always get closed all the way), and that the merchandise in the middle sections can sometimes get very well mixed up (especially any clothing). read more

Lidl is a fun grocery store with lots of unique and international finds. It's a German grocery store chain, and with it being the holiday season, German chocolate was a big feature. Most products are the Lidl house brand, but you can occasionally find name brands. The store's layout is a bit confusing, as the produce is at the entrance of the store along with a small bakery, then a meat section. The dairy and frozen areas are at the back of the store. Finding items felt like walking through a maze. Like Aldi, Lidl has "Aisles of Shame" of interesting seasonal buys. On my visit, I saw everything from Ugly Christmas Sweaters and children's holiday pajamas to harmonicas and whiskey glasses. I wouldn't come here to buy all my groceries or specific items, but it's fun to stop in and just look around. You'll never know what you'll find, that you didn't know you needed until you came to Lidl. read more

This experience was lackluster. The bakery section was pretty much closed down. I understand Covid is impacting how some businesses are run but I wouldn't shut down whole sections, maybe prebag everything in smaller volumes and charge slightly more for the labor and materials. I definitely could not use the store to complete all my weekly shopping. The produce section isn't the size of a standard store. The meat selection and prices were pretty good with many offerings. There is also a section or weekly deals that were nearly wiped out, I guess i came in at the tail end Of the sale. With that, I suppose, comes all of the coziness of an airline hanger set inside a carbon and alloy foundry. I'm a bit sore on this transformation as knowing your butcher, your baker even a candle stick maker are all relationships I held dear. Well, so be it -- but I won't be shaking the industrial food shopping Pom Poms anytime soon. Bread and produce are first, after a few rolls, baguettes and crossiants, I've zero reason to hit the bakery hence forth. In under fourty hours, your loaf becomes a Google search for 'top 10 uses for stale bread'. Although limited in size compared to the stores size, the produce area boasts quality and value but check your circular as you enter to best navigate the sales. (I walk to the circulars page by page layout, as opposed to the direct aisle by aisle route). The entire left wall is well lit, items are well placed with tiny pockets of gourmet items - Italian stuffed sausage and yummy French cheeses. -- just wish the bakery, well... nevermind. The Preferred Selection brand of Italian pastas and sauces (think Pesto my friends) is about as good as one can eat and enjoy with family and friends, or alone. Mangiate!! -- The middle area of non food items never caught my interest. Less ugly boots, braded rawhide and dart boards -- more meat and seafood options -- if anyone of decision making authority is wondering where I'm at with the store centered, rummaged chachka bins. The wine and beer prices are causing me to drink a but more than my normal average of take home pay, but eating, drinking and making merry are in my DNA, who am I to argue science? read more

Finally found my way to Lidl. I was not impressed. The store was a mess, it looked like a thrift shop and while they had awesome money saving products ( No frills items) and sales I don't think I will visit again. We spent our usual of about $100 but while all of the bargains were decent, we noticed most of the products were produced or grown in other countries. I'm very particular about products not being FDA or USDA approved. The parking lot was spacious, well lit and roomy. The cashiers and floor help were very friendly and helpful. I didn't try any of the bakery items, but they had a large selection & people seemed to be snatching them up quickly, so I'm assuming they are good. I went in once this summer and since the produce is in the front of the store it was riddled with fruit flies. I left. Today, however, I decided to give them another shot and popped in after my early-morning Dr. appointment nearby. I am glad I did. I brought a Walmart bag full of Walmart bags and found so much good stuff I filled them all! Upon entry I took a minute to browse the circular and saw some unbeatable deals. $4.99 Prosecco? I got 4! 79¢/lb for my Christmas ham, 79¢/lb for chicken thighs. The produce was lovely and bug-free, so I grabbed some things to try: zucchini for my zoodler I have had for years and never used, spaghetti squash and a butternut squash because the Dr. said I am healthy and I want to stay that way, avocados for a steal, Romaine hearts because I am a risk-taker LOL. They had adorable holiday candies and gifts so our stockings are now overstuffed, and big fancy chocolate bars for 89¢! The middle section was like a Big Lots, with an array of giftables that I will remember for next year, I am done shopping this year. The staff was super-friendly, and a guy stocking the cheese area talked with me while I stared at the selection and told me about the app, which saved me $5 on top of the $10 coupon I had. This grocery store was not what I expected. I was looking for something new and their flyer showed some great low prices. I came here in the evening and it looked like a tornado had gone through the produce section. I only had a few things on my list but there were no green peppers or baby carrots anywhere. I walked around some more and everything just seems very thrown together with no clear order. I got about 7 items and checked out only to find that they don't have grocery bags. You need to bring your own which I didn't know and never saw advertised anywhere. So I had food rolling around the trunk of my car going home. Prices are low but quality wasn't good. I forgot Lidl came to town! My mom and I were in the area and decided to check it out. Outside is pretty. I love the large glass windows. Lidl is interesting. Inside is very generic. Definitely the no frills type of grocery store. There's no show, no presentation. I'm sure this helps to cut the costs. The prices are great. The aisles are wide. Many of the items are still in the bulk boxes they arrive to the store in. It's not only a grocery store....they sell kitchen essentials, clothes, and shoes. It was pretty late in the evening so many of the bakery items were gone. We ended up only grabbing some cookies. I only tried the sugar cookie but it was absolutely amazing! I wish I had gotten more. I am in love with Lidl! You get your basics and seasonal surprises here all while being budget friendly and stellar quality. The floor plan is more spacious than Aldi. I love the holiday seasons where I can snag some stocking stuffers that remind me of childhood and unique finds I didn't know I needed until they host it for a week! Two years ago I tried a pumpkin spice kefir here and have yet to find it again! I love their bakery department - their bread is baked well and sometimes treat myself to a pretzel roll or bagel now and then. Sometimes they do BOGO on produce which is a winner in my book. The crew is always willing to help you look for something or answer a question - they're hard at work, always running around! I'm surprised how Goose Creek landed this grocery store - could certainly see it successful in West Ashley or other nearby towns. A staple favorite!! read more

My first visit to Lidl about a year ago was disappointing. I didn't understand the layout, felt like I couldn't find anything I liked and was irritated by the lengthy wait time for checkouts l BUT..... I recently gave them another chance - mostly out of necessity/convenience. While I still prefer Aldi, I have found a few more deals here and am less frustrated by the weird layout the more I visit the location. AND, am absolutely OBSESSED with their Pita Crackers! They're crisp and hold up well to dips or baked brie! Their produce is always fresh and free of defects. They have a WIDE selection of refrigerated and frozen food to choose from as it wraps around the entire store. I passed by this new store a few times thinking it looked contemporary which would probably equal expensive....I decided to give it a shot....I was pleasantly surprised..Absolutely love this. Grocery store concept!! I never thought a grocery store could be chic until now.. You walk in and there's flowers for sale and a bakery with oven baked breads..cookies...free samples. The vegetable produce is all good..did not have to pick through to find a good tomato for a change... I like the open and WIDE aisles..no congestion here..and best of all prices were not high all for the quality goods.. Another surprise was the New Surprises aisle with all kinds of goodies ..toys.clothes..jeans..tools..something for everyone...I'm not sure if this is a Christmas thing but I liked it. You do have to bring your own bags or buy paper ones for 7 cents, plastic ones a bit higher..I opted for the insulated one for 79 cents .so I could keep ripping the roads a bit longer before heading home with my cold goods. Great store! It's also in a great location in Goose Creek. I am hoping they'll open up more stores through the Charleston metro area. You'll find everything from spices, home goods to baked goods! The bread slicing machine is the best. You get to slice the bread whichever way you want: thin cut, average or thick. I love that they have a big variety of breads everything from sourdough to the everything bread. It's baked fresh multiple times a day! The store is big, it's clean. The staff is super friendly and everywhere you turn there is someone to help you out. Like Aldis you need to bring your own bag to bag your groceries or you can purchase a bag from them (brown bags) for .10 cents. You can always reuse the brown bags on your next trip and save the money. I promise you once you come to this store you'll continue to come. read more

My absolute favorite place to find fresh veggies and fruits, .25 yogurt, hot and fresh .60 bagels and cookies, hot and fresh $1 baguettes, $1.69 steamable edamame, sales on seafood, and reasonably priced meats. If my house was closer I'd go every day- they have great quick options that work for lunch and breakfast. They also have a variety of specialty items that aren't found everywhere, at a fraction of its usual price. How are they able to keep their prices so low? Because it's arraigned as a warehouse/ grocery store hybrid with additional household items and even clothing. They are also solar powered ( check out that roof!) and are not over staffed. It's awesome and efficient. Instead of over using plastic bags- opt to put your groceries in the stock boxes the items ship in! Lidl's has become one of my favorite groceries stores. Most items are at a great price. Produce on sale is usually pretty cheap. Downside is that it's mostly from overseas rather than locals. It works out in the winter when it's harder to get stuff here, but during the summer I'll supplement my grocery trips with farmer's market trips. They have just the basics, so if you're looking for specific brands you may have some problems, but it also means spending less time at the store, at least if you're like me and spend way too much time analyzing how much I would save per ounce if I went with x brand over y brand and whether there's enough difference in taste to justify it. Their off-brand stuff tastes great. It's not like some of the other stores where it can be extremely hit or miss. Weekends can get a little rough - there's a ton of people visiting and most of them are the types that can't be bothered to clean up after themselves, so things tend to get messy. One of the ways the store seems to keep prices low is to not have enough staff on at any given time too, which doesn't help matters. See something coming up on sale that you really want? Go in the first two or three days. They will sell out and don't do rainchecks. If you wait until Sunday-Tuesday, it's not going to happen. Go on a Wednesday or Thursday if possible - crowds are much smaller, store stays cleaner, and everything is well stocked. Bring your own bags. They do have bags for sale at a very reasonable price if you forget them (a mere $0.07/bag for paper bags) but every little bit counts, ya know? Plus a good reusable bag will hold up better if you're taking it up a few flights of stairs to your apartment. read more

I think I've found my new favorite grocery store! I used to prefer Aldi, but then a Lidl opened up in Goose Creek closer to me! They are like your typical grocery store in that they sell all your usual items but the main difference is the prices. Be sure to get the app. It has weekly coupons that makes things even more of a steal. I do wish they had a wider selection of fruits and veggies, but that's about my biggest complaint. They have the produce section (where they rotate availability of most of the items), their fresh bakery section (try the pecan maple pastries!), bread, cold cuts, fresh meats, dairy, frozen goods, dry goods, a weekly rotating selection of household goods ranging from clothing to workout equipment to gardening accessories, as well as a pretty decent beer and wine selection. They also carry specialty food items that are also rotated weekly. Don't forget to bring bags with you otherwise you'll have to pay a small fee for plastic, paper, or reusable bags. I love how I can come here and spend $50 on groceries for the week whereas if I went to BI-LO for the same items, I would end up spending closer to $150! Check them out if you haven't yet. read more

I would rate Lidl a solid 5 star but new policies have lowered their ratings. Great service, products and prices everywhere. But soon, according to officials in Lidl HQ, they are going green (plant based meat) and less real meat. The store is clean and the food is inexpensive (it's literally cut my grocery bill in half). The store brand seems to be pretty good quality and I've been really pleased with the dairy products and meat. The selection isn't huge, but it does have most basic food stuff. It's painfully busy on Sunday afternoons and because of that, they are out of a lot of things by then. My tip would be to shop early on a weekday if possible and bring your own bags. I've switched most of my grocery shopping from Publix to Lidl. Download their app for coupons to save even more. read more

When we lived in GC, this place was right down from our old house. I got so excited that we were getting a LIDL. (Having grown up in Germany, I have been to many of these stores and they have always been really great). We went to this store during opening weekend, and it was a complete madhouse (as to be expected). When we went, we weren't going to be doing any shopping but just to look around and get a feel for the store. The bakery looked amazing. I love how they had some German style bread there. Everything seemed to be at a really good price. The frozen and cold section was really good as well. There was a couple things that I wanted to get (but with the long lines, and then the drive back home I didn't want to get any frozen items. I'm not a complete wine drinker, but they seemed to have a good selection and from what I can tell, the prices seemed really fair. Also, I chuckled at the knock off beer brands. Overall, this seems like a really great store, unfortunately we don't live in Goose Creek anymore, so I don't think we will be shopping here too often. Especially when I have Aldi right down the road from us now. But maybe if we are in the area, we will swing by. read more

New. Favorite. Store. Lidl is CHEAP and I'm a huge fan. The store is brand new, spacious, clean and the employees are super friendly and informative. I was able to find most of what I wanted - and some extra goodies! About 75% of the items in Lidl are their brand - totally fine by me. But occasionally you will find name-brand products like McCormick or Betty Crocker or Coca-Cola. I purchased goldfish, protein bars, an entire tray of wet cat food, 2 packs of gum, toilet paper, 2 frozen personal pizzas - for $13. SERIOUSLY. The only downside is the drive up to Goose Creek and the fact you have to purchase your own bags -- but those are both WELL worth the final price tag. I'm honestly excited to visit again. read more
