Who wants some great tasting fried chicken? We do! My eldest daughter and I picked up dinner from Lickin Fried Chicken at the Shops of Topaz in the City of Hesperia. The owners from here also own Mama Fresh Grill Teriyaki and Pixy Boba. We can't help, but to support all 3 spots LOL. I highly recommend all 3 of them. They are all conveniently located in the same plaza. 3 in 1... cool! From here, we got two orders of 2 piece leg and thigh only. It also comes with a dinner roll. Fried chicken leg and thigh were very delicious. Chicken was moist. Skin was perfectly crispy and not too oily... very nice crunch. It has a slight spicy kick to it. We loved it! The young man behind the counter was cordial. He may have been the son of the owner. The owner lady was very nice and pleasant. It's indeed a family business. I was very warmly greeted, store is clean and has an overall nice look and vibe. I Ordered the 3 pc wing combo with fries and drink and ordered hubby a 2 pc leg and thighs with fries and drink. This was my first visit and I will come back. Chicken was spicy, fried crispy and as others have said better than Popeyes chicken. Flavor wise best I have tasted since moving to the High Desert. Had my second visit today 12/03/25 Wanted to try the fish it was food. Shrimp were mildly spicy and was my favorite. I enjoyed the fish, it was good. Disappointed on Mac and cheese not a favorite. My order was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and welcoming. This was visit #2. I will come back. Would love to see fried okra as a choice for a side and maybe hush puppies with my fish. I highly recommend this place if you want fresh, spicy and tasty fried chicken. The chicken definitely has a Louisiana taste and kick. I also recommend the hush puppies, fried corn nuggets, fries oysters and fried okras. I tried the shrimp gumbo as well, and it was spicy. I wasn't able to handle the spice but it's worth a try if you don't have 2 hrs to cook gumbo and want a quick fix. If you ask the owner in a kind and sweet manner, he will give you a sample. While they were preparing my impressive order, I saw two other customers ordered the cococado (a smoothie of coconut and avocado) and of course I had to try. It was delicious and the only place in the high desert that sells it. So highly recommended. The taro boba was exceptional as well. I was pleased with the order, the time it took to prepare it, the quality of the food, the amazing array of choices, the clean and organized waiting area, the boba bar and the owner's hospitality. I stopped by after getting my tattoo because I kept hearing about them. I got the red snapper, mac n cheese and shrimp rolls. The fish and shrimp rolls are amazingly delicious! There's a nice spice on the fish that wasn't overwhelming. I didn't even have to use the tartar sauce. Now the mac n cheese was another story unfortunately. It was nice and creamy but had zero flavor. If they just put more salt in the pasta water and add shredded cheese and pepper I think that would make a huge difference. First time trying this place. It's a cute little dining area. The stuffed animals and cups for sale are very cute too. I got the sweet chili boneless wings. Nice and crispy, warm. The sauce had a very nice sweetness to it while also having a lovely spice. The food was delicious. My only complaint is that there is no music, and the seating is minimal. The only sounds are from the cooks, and any other guests talking. There is also only two tables. A small table and a large table. But overall, a good experience. The french fries are good and they gave us a very generous portion of those, The cajun rice was kinda overcooked(too mucb water) for us and could not really understand the taste. This was my third time visiting, and unfortunately, I was disappointed again. I ordered chicken expecting it to be made fresh, but it definitely wasn't , it wasn't hot and seemed like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. On top of that, my French fries were inconsistent. some were hot, some warm, and others cold. My first visit was great, and the food was fresh and delicious, which makes this experience even more frustrating. My girlfriend and I got the 2 piece fish combo (red snapper), 2 piece chicken combo(spicy, crunchy skin, had a great kick and juicy chicken), both came with a Hawaiian roll, a 10 piece shrimp with the "finger licking sauce". Went here on a Friday afternoon. There's a parking lot and available spaces. Walking inside, the place is clean, cutesy and inviting. There's plenty of seating, although, it would be beneficial to have separate tables for smaller groups. There's only 2 big tables. I feel like you'd have to sit with others at the table if it got busy. No music that I remember. The menus are easy to read. The service was nice, although a smile wouldn't hurt. The prices are fair. Now, onto the food. I ordered the 3 strips with mac & cheese. They only have a few soda options to drink, unless you're there for boba. So, I got strips. By the way, they can't add sauces on top of the strips, but you can ask for basic condiments. I got bbq sauce and hot sauce, both were pre packaged. The hot sauce had a lot of red40 in it. It stained the chicken red. The food came in a cute box, looks like it would be really good. The food was hot. I got a couple pieces extra inside, I'm assuming cause the strips were small. The strips were juicy, crunchy, but NO FLAVOR at all. But wait, there's more... the mac&cheese, isn't mac&cheese, it's noodles with colored water. No FLAVOR. I mean, absolutely no flavor, no salt, pepper, nada. I was so disappointed. I didn't even eat the noodles. Everything was amazing, but the food. My son wanted boba yesterday so I looked up a place to get some and ended up here. The environment is so cute and cozy. The smoothies and tea we got were delicious! Very nice people who work here as well. We ended up getting the chicken for dinner that same day and it was so good! Best chicken I've ever had to be honest. The fried chicken easily had the best seasoning out of any fried chicken joint in the high desert. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was not disgustingly greasy. The provided sauces added a flavor punch to the chicken, but it has no issue standing alone. The fries were crispy, perfectly cut, and had an amazing flavor. The man that took our order was kind, helped us select our food, and the food came out quickly, but it was not rushed. They clearly take pride in their dishes and cook each meal with love and care. The joint shares its location with a boba shop, and the surrounding plushies, greenery, and display were adorable.
