We were looking for a restaurant in the area and found this place on Google maps because of all the good reviews. I'm glad that we decided to come here for lunch. We ordered at the counter with the friendly gentleman working there. Choose your own seats and they will bring your order to your table. Coffee and tea were complimentary. I opted to do their crispy hot honey chicken combo that came with fries and a can of soda. I did enjoy it and the fries were good too. The restaurant is small, but the seating arrangement makes it feel very welcoming, especially the middle table, meant to bring friends and groups of people to eat together. It's very homey and cozy inside. Ordering was easy because the cashier is able to explain every dish on the menu with specifics on what it contains. There is complimentary tea and water. Felt very authentic ~ I ordered a burrito bowl, and it was great! Portion size was large, and it was delicious. Chicken was savory and not dry at all~ the spicy sauce made the flavor so much better. Your given a piece of gum on your plate for after your done with your meal which was a sweet touch. Inside is very cozy and decorated with arts and pictures with relaxing music. Seatings are limited but we sat down to eat since it wasn't busy. I was recommended the chicken and rice plate so I ordered that. Food was good. The chicken was well seasoned and tender but it had a-lot of small bones and was difficult to eat. Rice was good but I felt like there was not enough chicken for the amount of rice given. Side of bread and butter was odd since there was already rice. The dish was a bit odd to me maybe because I was expecting more than just chicken and rice with bread and butter on the side. I feel like side of salad or some more additions would have made the dish more balanced. Service was good and the staff were friendly. They also offer free coffee and tea which was nice. One time, I didn't hit send on my online order and had to wait for them to make it and they were so gracious and offered me tea. It's a shame Chef Wayne's Big Mamou closed down. Luckily what took its spot is another amazing family-run restaurant. Liberty's Mediterranean is exactly what you want out of a restaurant experience; unique cuisine that's both delicious and affordable. A must-try in the area! The Staff: usually I review the food first, but how can you ignore such amazing, courteous and friendly staff? The kitchen is filled with the family that owns this business. Everyone are happy to chit chat with you and serve you with a smile. We need more family-run businesses and less corporations/chains. The Food: I was skeptical when I saw the menu ranging from grinders, salads, gyros, falafels, Philly Steak n Cheese to chicken wings and lasagna. Yet everything we tried was delicious! The gyro was full of flavor and meat, the gyro over rice was on a bed of fluffy amazing rice. Falafels were super crispy outside, and tender/moist inside. Jo-jo potatoes were salted to perfection, were crispy, and had an unsual but amazing citrus flavor, perhaps a squeeze of lemon/lime? The Drinks: There are two cooler with various sodas and water. Individual servings and 2 liter bottles. You are given complementary coffee and mint tea, which were both great. Hey free drinks is okay in my book. Atmosphere: The dining area is small, perhaps it can fit about 20 people. Seems like majority of people order take-out as there is a steady yet constant stream of people coming in to pick-up their orders. There are magazines to read while you dine, and a few board games to be played. The walls are covered with interesting paintings, artworks, and signs. Cost is amazing: 12 pcs Jo-Jo Potatoes, 4 Falafels, Chicken Gyro, Gyro over rice, and 2L diet coke cost us only $36! That's only $15-20 per person! Compared to Villa Napoletana in East Longmeadow where ONE entree can cost you $30-45, this place is a steal! Overall: Definitely a neat gem on the quieter outskirts of Springfield's Downtown. If I'm ever taking the train, you better believe I will be getting dinner at Liberty's Mediterranean. My only regret about this place is I did not find it sooner! I went for lamb maqluba. It was rich and tasty. It was not spicy though. In my scale it was bland, but still I liked it. New Contemporary Fusion Gyro Grinder was my favorite food here. It was tangier than regular gyro grinder. And it was flavorful. Chicken with jo-jo potato was blander than I expected. Quantity was good though. I also tried their dessert - I think it is called Harrissa. They were nice enough to add some sugar syrup and coconut on top of it. It was a nice one. Very good Palestinian/Mediterranean restaurant. Just happened to be across the street looking for a place for late lunch. Glad we walked in. All the food is home made all the way down to the garlic aioli. Their olive oil and most of the produce are authentic and sourced from the local Middle East market. All the meats are Halal. The lamb dish was remarkable in how the meat was perfectly tenderized and was not dry or chewy. The mint tea and Turkish coffee are also home brewed and gratuitous with the meals. I'm so happy to have found this place. They have vegetarian and vegan options which is rare for Springfield. They have various Mediterranean options along with Philly cheesesteaks, baked chicken, fried fish and salads. There's something for everyone. My husband and I love Mediterranean food we usually have it once a week. We are traveling from California. So we discovered this cute place and saw the reviews. We both had the falafel "wrap" it was delicious, the texture and flavor was spot on ! One thing was that they gave us a tortilla instead of pita bread for our "wrap" it was a burrito:( but it was still delicious.
