As far as diners go, this one's in the middle of the road. Food is OK, and Service is terrific. My favorite thing about the Liberty diner Is that their menu has such a variety, not just of food but of portion sizes .You can order a half a sandwich and a cup of soup, or a small version of salads and sandwiches. I ordered a half a pastrami sandwich and a cup of soup. The rye bread was stale. I thought it was toasted, but the bottom portion was wet so it wasn't toasted, It was stale. read more

As our family was leaving the Catskills we wanted to stop for breakfast. Liberty diner was the perfect stop that was enroute to NYC. The diner is very festive, upbeat, and lively. Loved that they are one of the very few places in the Catskills opened late hours. Large variety of choices on the menu, the food is very good, coffee was great. Service was excellent. Loved that they serve cocktails if your in the mood for a glass of wine after a long road trip, or other spirits. When visiting the area this will definitely be a place I visit for a sit down, bite to eat. read more

Was on a quick trip, and needed to stop quickly for some food. Walked in and already knew the food would be great by the sight of the dessert cases! We were sat and told the waitress the food needed to be to go and she put our order right in. She packed up the two best desserts for me. Food came out quickly, and hot and smelled amazing. We were in Liberty NY for a concert at Bethel Woods. There were fast food options but decided on the diner instead. Coffee was hot, fresh and delicious. Service was quick and attentive we probably should have specified cinnamon French toast but the challah French toast was delicious. A side of bacon and home fries. Everything arrived perfect temp taste was pretty delicious! The decorations made me think every day was a holiday! The case of homemade cheesecake and cakes looked tempting but decided to pass! We got there late after a tournament and it was still pretty busy. The wait staff was attentive with multiple staff stopping by as they passed through the dining area. The food was cooked well and the table next to me had rave reviews of a number of items. The crepes looked fabulous. The old Greek diner I expected was eclipsed by the quality staff, but held on to the fair prices and good food I'd been expecting. The dish I ordered itself was fantastic, the picture is only half the portion as it was huge but it was good the second day as well. The NY style cheesecake was also fluffy and delicious but had to wait until late night as I was too full from dinner to have it at the diner. read more

It's amazing how we always find these local diners and small restaurants that consistently knock the ball out of the park and I see this after my first trip here. We were headed up to Rochester and wanted a place for a quick breakfast, not fast food. They are right off HWY 17 and within a minute we were here. Plenty of parking and there were plenty of cars here. Walked in and immediately greeted at the door and brought over to our booth (as requested.) This is a lovely diner with plenty of booth seating and a separate dining room with tables. Within seconds are very lovely waitress stopped by for drinks then the order. Egg sandwiches can out quickly and exactly how we ordered them. (As I said before, that doesn't always happen.). Coffee was good, hot and plentiful. We tried our first Door Dash delivery. I ordered food from the Liberty New York diner. It was a great experience. The food arrived in a very timely manner, even though we live in the next town over. Our food arrived hot and freshly made. The order was delivered with the necessary utensils and napkins. Thankfully , the Liberty Diner sent garnishes that we had forgotten to ask for. Additionally, the Door Dash driver followed the exact and complicated delivery instructions (in the inclement weather). I would give the diner 10 stars if I was able to. read more

Being from Jersey this was a whole different experience from the diners in NJ! We had stayed at a hotel up the road for a concert and wanted a "hangover cure" breakfast and the girl at the desk suggested this. For off our waitress and from what it seemed most of them there were pleasant , experienced and friendly. They seemed to enjoy their jobs and talking to the customers. Our waitress was outstanding , I don't recall ever having a waitress bring me an entirely new cup of coffee instead of just refilling the leftover at the table. Traveling through, my husband & I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Liberty Diner. The portions were large and we could have easily split a meal. The Mediterranean Panini was delicious with the sweet potato fries I've had in quite awhile. My husband enjoyed the Mega Beef Melt. We both had leftovers for an additional full meal. A motorway emergency brought my family to this diner at a late hour, when all other non-fast-food eateries were closed. It was still bustling, signalling this place's popularity. The whole place gave off a warm air of home dining experience. The portions were unmistakably generous"diner" sizes! My vegetarian panini was delicious; I only ate half of it and the other half became next morning's breakfast. My son wolfed down his chicken sandwich. The only blemish was in husband's shrimp and avocado salad: the shrimps were undercooked. I took a few home and microwaved them to perfection the next day :-). Their fries were surprisingly nice - crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside. The bathroom was pristine. The waitstaff here was absolutely lovely -- Our waitress shared how years ago she worked at a local camp and as we sat, counselors from the camp (including our son) were treated so well! The waitstaff seemed to know many who were coming in - and loads of locals were engaging easily. It's a diner so the fare is normal diner stuff -- I had the chicken salad plate with potato salad and cole slaw. My husband and son both had paninis. My wife got the lettuce roast beef and bacon wrap and she thought that was just average. My son got the homemade lasagna and it was just mediocre. It was my 1st time at Liberty Diner with my fiancé. She has been here before and unfortunately had constantly heard rumors that the food was not good, place was dirty, etc... The place is a little bit modern but still has some of the old school diner flair lingering. Clean and the wait staff is friendly and accommodating. FYI - The menu online does not have the same prices as the menu inside the diner. We had breakfast, I had French Toast Deluxe with eggs and bacon and sausage and somehow got hash browns with it too even though the menu says it does not come with it. That was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that wasn't up to par was I asked for Challah French Toast, but I think I may have received the old-fashioned, because the bread was not the same as real deal Challah. Slightly disappointing. My fiancé got the Cali Benedict. Looked amazing and she was very pleased with the meal. Long time diner in Liberty, immediately off Rt 17, offers well-prepared food, good service, in a clean spacious dining room. We loved the waffles, available with real maple syrup for an upcharge, and the veal parmigiana was a large veal cutlet, well fried, with a thick bed of cheese and bright red, fresh-tasting marinara. We were disappointed with the crab cakes. While large and well fried, with a nicely complex blend of herbs, pepper, onions, the crab flavor was entirely missing. Sevice was friendly and efficient. We were out for Autumn foliage viewing on the Southern Tier Expressway, better known as NY Rte. 17, soon to be I-86. We decided to stop in Liberty, NY for lunch and arrived at the Liberty Diner & Restaurant around 1:00 PM. We were greeted in a non-committal manner by the hostess and seated immediately. The waitress came to get our drink order and deliver menus right away, and delivered the drinks very quickly. It took us 2 visits by the waitress to decide on our meals. The menu is several pages and contains a plethora of items for all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had their Cajun Steak & Gravy. Meg had French Dip on Garlic Bread. Each meal was plentiful, delicious, and quite different from anything we'd had before. They came with French fries that were some of the best I'd ever experienced. The onion rings side order was mundane, but palatable. The food was a little slow to arrive, but since it was a relaxing atmosphere, and I was enjoying a warm conversation with a local man and his grandfather, it was not a problem. The waitstaff were friendly and cordial, the facility is charming and invitingly clean and tidy. The restrooms were among the cleanest, freshest, and most sanitary I've had the recent pleasure of using. I recommend Liberty Diner & Restaurant. I think that a traveler or local will find food here that they'll like, and a friendly place to enjoy it. Hey everyone!!! The Liberty diner is back!!!!! (Not that it ever physically went anywhere but for a short time the quality did). Ive been coming here for over 28 years now and I'm very happy to update my reviews of the famous Liberty diner. A Catskills landmark besides the good ole Miss Monticello Diner. Apparently their old chef is back. So now the ribs, the chicken, and the fries are all delicious once again. Something to look forward to when I'm in town. I always loved the Liberty Diner. Food was good. Most of the wait staff very accommodating. Now, recently, I don't know what's happening. I went for breakfast before work last week. After 40 minutes, still no food. I had to walk out and go to work without breakfast. Then I went in another morning. Supposedly they open at 7:00. It was 7:15 and they were just turning on the lights and stove not on. Fortunately Casi's Diner is right down the street. Food was great and the waitress is a doll. I know the owner of the Liberty Diner, I forget his name, who I never see there anymore, would never run a business that way. I guess Casi's has earned my business now. read more

I came in here for breakfast after seeing Steely Dan play the night before at Bethel Woods (where Woodstock was). This is a classic, old-school diner in every sense of the word. The outdoors architecture was fascinating. Inside there were photographs and other memorabilia from the local community. As I recall, the diner has been owned by a local Greek family for many years. The people eating there seemed to be mostly regulars, which is a good sign. As I recall I got an omelette, some hash browns, and some orange juice. The total came to $21.92.
