In Grand Rapids and finished work project so before heading to airport I guess I should eat. Lia's Pizza comes up with pretty good reviews. I hate to be a party pooper but I can't see anything I agree with on these reviews. First very small storefront. Seems like most people order take out. Not me I'm looking to sit for lunch. Decent menu on paper. I see homemade spaghetti and sauce $5.95. What? Could this be true? For an up charge of $2.00 you can get 2 meatballs. I'm going all in. So let me say this. I'm an Italian from New York. I'm sure the standards are a little lower in Grand Rapids. So. Sit down and in about 8 minutes my meal is out. Spaghetti comes in an Aluminum tray. On the aluminum tray are spots of black burned something, but the food was not hot. Maybe warm at best and the meatballs were very dense, I'm guessing frozen store bought. A disappointment to say the least. If I'm back in Grand Rapids again I'll probably go to Olive Garden. read more

Pros: prices are amazing, good portions Cons: the prices/portions are so good, they're always busy -call ahead for pickups Wow. A friend told me about this place, and I thought he was exaggerating about cost and portions, he was not. An Italian dinner with a load of garlic bread for $7 (and you'll prob have leftovers). My hubs says this is the best pizza around -he thought for some reason they'd closed awhile back. This place is an absolute gem, and as such, they are always packed. They have amazing prices and will fill your belly with nice portions -many restaurants no longer do this, but it has made Lia's very successful. My fav is dipping bread into the Alfredo pasta. To be completely honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the pasta part -but the bread dipped into the pasta was a dream. We literally returned a few days later and tried more pasta and a sub -the chicken bacon ranch was really good. I can't recommend this place enough. You will be DELIGHTED! read more

My husband and I were in visiting from Long Island NY and my husband spotted this place as my sisters name is Lia (spelt that way and all - you never see it) so we said we had to try it on our way to the airport! I appreciate the fact that the prices on their menu is reasonable. So many places charge so much these days, but this place doesn't over charge. Also their wings are saucy and good! We probably order takeout from here like once a month. We never get the pizza but do enjoy the wings, subs, & Stromboli. I bought four pizzas for a group meeting. I bought the Meat Lovers, Veggie, Deluxe, and Cheese. This is a very good pizza. It is perhaps one of the best typical pizza's that I've had in the GR area. My boyfriend and I live just a block away, and we were feeling like pizza one night. We decided to go to Lia's because it was already late, we were starving, and we didn't want to drive too far. I didn't have much hope for a small local pizza place, but I was willing to give it a shot. We tried the $8 16" 1 topping pizza special with Italian sausage. As we were ordering, I was looking over the menu for something other than pizza to eat, but the pizza-maker was hovering and suggesting things in a pushy manner. So I just decided to stick with the pizza. We took it back home to eat along to a movie, and we were very surprised. In short, it was one of the best traditional round pizzas we have ever eaten. The cheese was gooey without being runny, the sausage wasn't too oily, and the most surprising part was the crust wasn't floppy or too crisp, and it wasn't bland and heaped with too much sauce. It was perfect! The only problems I had with Lia's was the employee working there made me feel uncomfortable as a new customer. He was a bit aloof, and didn't seem to smile very much. Also, the dine-in area is small, quaint, and probably not a very popular place to eat in. Other than that, Lia's had great pizza, so if you're looking for a place to pick up a delicious bite Lia's is one of the best--and local! My rating would be a 5 if the owner / manager knew how to treat his customers. I ordered from this place on Saturday and they forgot to put an item on my sub so I called them and informed them of this and was told that I would get a discount next time. (I did not ask for the discount it was offered when I called by his employee). So today I went to go redeem my discount for this sub, the owner takes off a quarter for the lettuce they forgot. Not only did he do this but the way he talked to me on the phone when I brought this up really just struck me the wrong way even though he was there the night this happened and knew of the issue. *visited during COVID-19* These really are the best cheese sticks in town and the price is great too. based on previous reviews I was expecting less than great customer service but it ended up being fine, the people weren't overly chatty but certaintly were not rude. it's not exactly downtown Grand Rapids but truthfully I think it's worth the drive because I haven't found any cheese sticks that are as good. we love the ranch as well! marinara was a little sweet for my taste and I have not tried the pizza but we will certainly be making another trip back to test out more items. My fiancé and I decided to try Lia's even though it was a bit further of a drive. The reviews on google were very positive. It is smaller than I expected, but very cozy. There were lots of specials and so we ended up trying both a veggie pizza and cheesy breadsticks. Both were delicious and came out quickly. We asked for marinara and they were very generous in giving us more than enough. We also witnessed them give away a pizza to a gentleman that came in hungry looking for a warm meal. Even if they were not altruistic, I would still recommend them for the quality of their food alone. It was great! read more

Food is amazing. Service is lacking. We order from here all the time and the people answering the phones have very weak customer service skills. Also the most recent time we ordered we got half of our order and half of someone else's order. When we called, the guy on the phone said he was gonna call the driver to see if he just mixed up boxes and that he would call us back. We never did receive a call back or any type of refund or the food that we ordered. Basically order at your own risk. If you order pizza, cheese bread or Stromboli and you actually get what you ordered, you won't be disappointed because the food is great. Now, we only live a mile up the road, but still. The pizza was wonderful.
