I was one of their first customers when they first opened on Sunset. I also happened to be one of their first customers when they moved to this location 2 years ago. I showed up on the 1st or 2nd day after they moved here. I had driven to their old location only to find them closed and drove over here after looking up the new address. Paul is always friendly, approachable, and of course, knowledgeable with Lexuses. Mishelle is always on her game and efficient with answering customer questions and getting folks in and out of the shop quickly. Prices have gone up over the past few years, but still reasonable rates for an independent shop. They do good and timely work and is a shop I am comfortable with. Bonus is that this Highland Park location is actually more convenient for me than the old location. read more

Update: took it back to Paul he told me my trans coolant line was leaking and they tightened it up. If it keeps leaking I need a new radiator. Found this weird seeing is after paying the 3k the first time at his shop he gave a big list of recommendations and not one of them had anything to do with a radiator. (Because it wasn't leaking or messed up before I overheated leaving the shop). Keep in mind before taking it here I went to big bear twice, national crest a few times, Santa Barbara, and down to San Diego without any overheating issues whatsoever. Just a shimmy when braking. Since I lost trust in Lextech I took it to a shop closer to me and told them about the trans coolant leak and how my car has been running hot and overheated once (After leaving lextech but didn't say that). At this point the mechanic test drove it, suggested new rotors (because he felt the shimmy when braking) and that he can fix this trans coolant line leak. He found that the o ring and the washer were shot and was able to stop the leak without replacing the radiator. He also informed me that there is some issues with my engine and he can't figure out why it's overheating. He suggested possibly a blown head gasket or some internal issues probably caused by that first over heating where the computer shut the car off since it got so hot. So as of now... It appears I paid lextech 3k to blow my engine up. The cars old and has a lot of miles so the mechanic suggested if it was a head gasket issue not to even replace them because the overheating could have caused a lot of other damage too And he suggested an engine rebuild but his shop does not do that work. Havnt driven the car since and it's still sitting in my garage. Tried to call lextech but again got no answer so I'm writing this update. read more

I love small businesses who make the dealer look slightly stupid. I've been going to Lextech for about 7 years now, and I've never had a bad experience. I always schedule my appointments as early in the morning on Sat. mornings, and I rarely have difficulties getting that spot. I usually get a standard oil change using high grade motor oil, and their prices cannot be beat. Aldo is a great guy and he's always up front with me about maintenance and other issues that have come up on my Lexus is over the years. They sometimes change my liquids that need changing, and have offered to replace tires and other maintenance you wouldn't expect from just an oil service team. I never go to the dealer because I actually don't trust them as much as I trust Lextech. Once you have a rapport with these guys, you won't want to go anywhere else. Calling all women who feel they are taken advantage of by auto repair mechanics. Paul, the owner and his crew are all honest, helpful, and extremely nice. Paul knowledge of Asian cars is better than most of those who work at the dealer. I took my car into the dealer before, Paul opened his shop, and they wanted to charge me over $400.00 for a repair that Paul did for about $100.00. I have had zero issues with any of the repairs done by Paul and his staff. The icing on the cake is that Michelle calls to remind you of your appointment and she also calls within a couple of days to make sure everything is to the customers' satisfaction. read more

I drove from the Valley to Silver Lake to get an oil change due to the stellar Yelp reviews and recommendation of my co-worker. Everyone is so friendly and they even washed my car. The price is half the price of the dealers. Go on a Saturday morning and walk over to the farmers' market and take a walk to browse the boutiques along Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake. One star because they don't know what they are doing. These guys tried to convince me I needed a new transmission. Basically told me to junk my car. Took the car to Aamco, and AAMCO figured out my car issue FOR FREE. Turns out my V-land after market head lamps were shorting the solenoids for the transmission causing issues. Lex Tech charged me $232.46 for a transmission pan reseal (whatever that is) and added trans fluid. I'm not even sure if that's a good price but I was upset with the misinformation. read more

My absolute favorite auto shop I have ever dealt with. Anything a dealership can do, they can do better and without the associated price gouging. If I get an oil change just about anywhere else, they'll try to upsell me with some expensive "discovery" they made (looking at YOU, Purrfect Auto). That's not to say they haven't found things that need to be repaired or replaced, but it's such a rare occasion that I can take them at their word. Paul, Aldo, Milk and Michelle are simply awesome people. I dropped by to get my AC fixed following a recommendation from a friend who said Paul is a trusty mechanic who won't rip you off, and she was right! Paul and his crew were very professional, friendly and quick to fix my AC issue. I really like the fact that they are appointment only. When I showed up for my appt, they started working on my car immediately and finished before the quoted time. They originally said an hour to hour and 15, but I was out in 45 mins. I took an older Lexus to them and intended on spending a bunch of money to have it fixed correctly. What I got was a sorta fixed Lexus, but not really but still charged a lot. The motor clunks out of park cause it needed diff bushings and trans/motor mounts. They say they installed these bushings, but the car was never right. I took it in twice after to have them verify that they were not broken or loose and they said they were fine but "the car was just old" which is a lame excuse seeing as I'm paying them (willing to pay a premium!) to fix the old parts. Fast forward to two years on ( I lived with it as long as I could), I took it to another shop...guess what? All the factory bushings were still installed. They straight up took my money and either put in old bushings (and didnt leave tool marks) or did nothing (more likely). Unbelievable. I came here because I read so many reviews that held them in high regard, but I got straight ripped off. I should have known when I asked for the old parts in advance and they didn't supply them that something was off. I even asked again and they just said "sorry the mechanic must have gotten rid of them" . No they didnt, THEY WERE STILL ON THE CAR! Perhaps I should look into the statute of limitations on this kind of thing in CA. Shame on these people. On top of this, they left a number of screws out, tightened bolts way beyond torque specs, rounded bolt heads,and nicked and damaged wire dressing and jacketing. This car was a babied cream-puff outside of the CA sundamaged paint, but they definitely marred things under the hood. I could have payed some kid or dude on the street to have done this same level of work. Its embarrassingly bad. I gave them their shot to do me right and they just continued to be dishonest. Yet another mechanic looking to make a buck by cutting corners. Definitely avoid this one. read more

My car was not starting and I felt like it was time for someone to look over my car completely. I had thought I would need a new timing belt but instead of trying to sell me that the good people at Lextech said my car was fairly healthily. I decided on my own that I wanted a major tune up since nothing has been done to my car for a while. I would highly recommend this place to ANYONE with any type of car, but they DO specialize in Lexus'. A rare honest shop with good service and mechanics. I arrived 20 mins early to my appt, they greeted and took me in immediately. Filled out some paperwork, they listened to my concerns, then they took the car in for a service and inspection, and gave me their honest assessment without all the junk that you get at the dealerships. Will gladly come here again for the next service or repair. They were fast and trustworthy, which is hard to find in LA. I grabbed a coffee at a local cafe, walked around the neighborhood -which has a lot of character to it, and the service was done. read more

A real find. Paul, the owner, was terrific. I made an appointment, and was seen on time, everything was completed and I was charged more than 50% less that the Lexus dealership quoted me, and actually received far more than I had requested as part of their complete service. I was very impressed. The next week I brought my other Lexus in for brakes, as the dealership informed me that I was in need of a brake job, and again, Paul checked out the brakes and informed me that I had at least 40% left on my front brakes and did not need brakes. Very honest, straight forward, personable. Unless I need warranty work done, which would be rare, I can relinquish the car wash and cappuccino at the dealership, and receive a faster turn around time and receive the same quality of work for much less. read more

My car was making a weird noise so I brought it to Lextech to get it checked out. Running a diagnostic would cost $75. When I showed them a video of the sound I recorded, one of the guys said "let me check something, it may be an easy fix". They saw that the air filter was out of place and that was making the noise. They put it back into place and didn't charge me anything. The mechanics could have easily ran a diagnostic and charge me for it but instead were honest and helpful to their customers. I've dealt with shady mechanics in the past and you can trust that the service here is honest and of quality. read more

I have a 2012 Lexus Ct200h that needed a brake master cylinder/ABS actuator system bled due to a new part. I didn't have the dealer software, but did the part replacement myself, and still couldn't get the system to update and clear all dash lights. Messaged Paul on a weekend, and he had me come in the next business day. Just from following his work and reputation (even as far back as the Silverlake location) told myself that if I needed help with something I would use this shop.
